“Low Resolution” mode is enough! But that scaling option is stellar! 🤩

I prefer the cleaner rendering of the 'non Low Resolution' mode to avoid mega blocky pixels :sunglasses:

You can use Files.app to copy the files to iCloud or USB-Device :)

Of course ... but it would have saved a step ... like I said not a biggie.

  • I haven't Samu's approach yet, but here's another workaround, use Audiolayer's auto sampler mfx.

Just ensure that you're sampling every note not just intervals.

This batch export is hurting my blood. I watched Samu’s video a dozen times and it appears I’m following the steps correctly, but ultimately only one Wav exports. I screwed up in the beginning, so I deleted files and a sub directory from within Relic AU, confirmed, but I don’t know why I still see the old names from home. Been at it for 30 minutes

It's easier to use the stand-alone Relic Waves for *.wav / sample creation and after export move the samples out from the Relic Waves folder using Files.app or Sample Crate which can also be used to batch rename them.

If you bump into a kit you like in the AUv3 take note of the number between the arrows as that is all that is needed to re-create the kit in the stand-alone for easier export.

That 'number' can also be shared with others so they can get exactly the same kit.

Another way is to load Koala Sampler after Relic Waves in AUM and sample into that...

  • Wow thanks for the info @Samu you're the GOAT!

I love all of Zolotovs apps and he’s easily one of my all time favorite devs on iOS but the menu system is the one thing that frustrates me. His other apps (the trackers) were recently updated with sample import and I still haven’t parsed how to import samples lol. Love everything else though.

I was also thinking AudioLayer and Koala as alternative options. But I get why people prefer the files app. I prefer that myself so I can use SampleCrate to drag and drop into Sitala to make full kits.

In SunVox AUv3 it’s relatively simple to import samples.
Start with a new project (SunVox menu, new and empty).

To import a sample go to SunVox menu and select system system import from the SunVox menu, pick a sample using the document picker and connect the created sampler module to the output and play.

A selected module will always use the midi input routed to SunVox.

If you need more than one sample then repeat the process but double tap the sampler module and set midi-input to always and pick a midi-channel.

For sh*t’s and giggles you can also import full tracker files (.mod, .xm etc) using the same method and in the project settings set the project to sync to host tempo…

And here's how to import a RelicWaves SunVox export into SunVox AUv3 and play samples chromatically...

By default the midi-input goes to the active module.
For more inputs double tap on sampler, set input to always and pick a midi-channel.

I wish there was a way to do that directly in the relics app, locking just one sound to the keyboard.

But hey, gives me a new reason to play with sunvox

Bought on android and ipad. What I love about this (and fractal bits, sunvox and koala) is that I can knock something out on the bus on my android, save the results in the cloud and import everything on my ipad when I'm home. Good stuff!

So are you android for phone and then iPad for iOS music making? Didn’t realize his apps were on Android too.

Yes, that’s the scenario. All his apps are on android and they usually go on sale there at the same time ass in the app store! I do want to make the switch to iphone for acces to some of my favorite apps but till then koala sampler and all the zolotov apps give me something to do on public transit.

Do you mean create a folder directly inside the ‘Relic Waves’ folder on the device?

Yes, when it's loaded as AUv3. If you use the stand-alone app it saves everything directly under Files.app.

Here's a short video on how to export from AUv3 to Downloads folders...

Thanks for this video @Samu. I understand now.

  • Loads more good info in this thread. Im off to go download SunVox again. Been a while since ive had a go at it.

Thanks for the standalone tip. I have Sample Crate, but haven’t utilized the batch rename yet. Now seems the time.

Not sweating it. I have Drambo open 99% of the time with Flexi on the last track set up to resample whatever I please, followed by Loopy Pro on the very last track for additional sampling.

If only I could extract your expertise with these apps haha. Thanks Samu, that’s definitely gonna help a ton. As much as I love his apps I admit sometimes they still go over my head. I just have too much fun with them though. Virtual ANS especially.

Koala is really the only app I use on my iPhone anyway. I’ll never ditch the iPad, but the wife and I have been thinking of swapping to Android. I’m kinda keen on that Google Pixel Fold (plus it would give me access to the TE app) and I would still have Koala. I’ve just had tooooo many major issues out of my iPhones over the last 6 years or so and it’s become a constant massive headache. The only thing holding me back is video. I use my iPhone to film a lot and take a lot of photos and I’m not sure how good other phones would be for short film making.

Fastest purchase ever and this from a recovered app-a-holic…

I wouldn’t say so judging from the complex relation you’ve built throughout the years with Gadget.
It’s everywhere on this forum. Shameful !

The Gadget addiction was MANY years ago...
...In the past year and this year so far I've barely gotten a few handfuls of new apps.

Don't see what's so shameful about that to be honest?!

  • @HotStrange Well, koala and fractal and now this release will get you a lot of mileage in sound design. I wish koala would get 3/4 time signature someday though as most of my music is in odd time.

Yeah same here. Maybe one day 🤞 the dev is very responsive. I’d recommend reaching out via email or discord.

Goodie, I will hoover collect a list of all purchases made during 2023 just to keep things under control.
In total so far it's 40 purchase totaling 4836SEK which with todays exchange rate is roughly 465USD :sunglasses:

This is what I estimated would be the case with ~3-4 apps/purchases per month.

I've been having a blast with this app. Just finding and locking sounds that play well together is a great distraction, but when you add in a sequencer things really take off. I highly recommend Euclidean with this. Using Euclidean's piano roll feature you can add extra blips and boops to patterns.

It's DSP efficient, too. Use multiple instances to separate voice types, or get rude and crude with a tool like FAC Bandit to split things up. The iPad is amazing.

Edit: I've been getting stuck notes and have seen a stuck UI once or twice when my 6-year-old is bashing away on his next noise opus (this app is a noise monster). The stuck notes can be cleared within the app (sometimes) but UI glitches tend to require a restart.

  • Really loving this app for quick textures. Keep it on a track, add in spacecraft as an effect and sample in sounds from relic, tweak, profit.
