  • 1.02 is out.
does it have HOLD/LATCH for the notes now!?
    its hard to tell...
    thnx

  • It does. Not specifically for the standalone keyboard, but there's a hold button in the app.

  • Does anyone get a max cpu spike anytime you adjust the filter envelope knobs for either filter? Filters don’t even have to be activated.

  • This is a monster update. Waveglide was already fantastic for morphing sounds, but now it's amazing for layering sounds too.

  • This is a very cool update.

  • One nice feature of WaveCloud is appending files and recordings, starting from the cursor position. I used to think that it would be nice to choose between append and mix, in order to let the grains trigger both files. But now with 3 independent WaveGlides, you can do the same and with more control. Cool! WaveCloud is really good for soundscape designs.

Although, the Orbit mode (non-WaveGlide) could sometimes benefit from having the possibility to mix in audio starting at the cursor position, rather than appending. Perhaps in a later update.

    +1.

    Thank you 4Pockets Software.

  • v1.04 B65 - Release Candidate

Fixes an issue where starting a new recording immediately after launch did not make the editor visible.

Fixed an issue where Grain Wrap was not being saved with the preset/session.

When changing the exposed AU Position or grain position knob, it now updates all playing notes/orbit positions.

Grain size can now be adjusted in 0.1K steps.

Number of Grains per second can now be adjusted in 0.1s steps.

The Setting option Append Recording has now become Recording Mode (OVERWRITE, APPEND and LOOP).

You can now specify a record length as seconds or beats.

The MONITOR button now needs to be engaged to hear any audio passing through, where previously it would allow passthrough during recording.

Append Recordings, Record Mode, Max Record Length, Monitor and Monitor Mix are now saved with the session / preset.

Exposed the Hold option as an AU parameter.

The input Monitor has been made an AU parameter.

Monitor Mix is exported as an AU Parameter.

Added a new Live Mix Options window which can be accessed from the Open Window submenu or from long pressing the Record button.

The Live Mix Options has a Threshold and Monitor Mix knob to mix monitor vs WaveGlide output.

The new LOOP recording mode can be used to create some basic granular effects. Use in conjunction with Max Record Length and the Live Loop Options.

NOTE: If Recording Mode is set to LOOP, it will work as follows:-

    1) If Record Start is set to IMMEDIATELY, it will continuosly capture a loop of set length.

    2) If Record Start is set to AUDIO DETECT, it will capture a loop then enter ARMED state, waitiing to be triggered again.

Updated the manual and added links to the new videos.

Yeah, I run wavecloud app on my M1 Macbook Pro - runs perfect!

  • @HolyMoses Thanks for confirmation . You’d think dev would put this in the specs .

    @4Pockets_Support , @4pockets_paul
just bought WaveCloud ,but can’t be found in AUM or Zenbeats (including Quarantined)
yes I opened as standalone first .
    yes I deleted , redownloaded , re-opened in standalone
still can’t be found as AU Instrument (or fx , or midifx ) as WaveCloud or FPKT .
Not a good start - & with website closed & no contact from within standalone app ,
here I am hoping to contact via a forum .

Try a full restart of the iPad. Wavecloud has no issues with running in those hosts, but I have had that exact issue on a few apps in the past.

Restart has solved it every time for me. Sometimes a few restarts.

Best is a ”hard reboot” - if you make an hard reboot the system will delete a lot of unwanted cachefiles.

  • @HolyMoses , @Simon , @Tentype Hard Reboot did the trick ,
I should’ve known that by now, thanks all , …as you were

  • Great app again from Paul . Question though, is it possible to play just the raw sample on the keyboard? Thanks for any help

If you dial everything all the way back except for the grain length you can get it to play basically the raw sample. The grain length can't go long enough though to play more than about a half second of the sample per key press though.

There is a button to hear the raw sample in its entirety though.

Mapping a full raw sample over the full keyboard is more the domain of a sampler app though. Wavecloud is meant more for sample mangling.

  • Hi,
how can I start play of wavecloud from my midi controller? I've got Ampero Hotone.
    Thanks

This has become my go-to synth for this kinda stuff (granular work, mostly pads and atmospheres), absolutely gorgeous sounds and very easy to use

  • Can this easily be dialed in to focus on specific grains?

I've been digging into granular more lately. This appears to provide a more clinical, synth-like approach compared to Fluss. Fluss has been my go-to due to its interface design, but there are times when I want a more surgical tool.

With a bunch of other granular apps already on my iPad I'd ignored WaveCloud, but maybe I need it.

  • @suboptimal said:

I'm not sure what you mean by "specific grains". Between the Grains and WaveGlide tabs there is a lot of control over number, size/length, and movement of grains within the audio sample. And there are basic audio tools to select a portion of the audio sample to begin with.

  • Cool.

I've been recording a string of sounds from Relic Waves/Flow and fine-tuning until I find a specific, very narrow range that fits within a broader AUM composition (approximately a Vladislav Delay vibe). Fluss has some advantages, but dialing in with a play head, play speed, and jumpy sliders is sometimes a PITA. I'm intimidated by FRMS so exploring other tools that might fill the gap.

  • I've been digging into this and am very happy I picked it up. It's a bit surprising to me that this doesn't get mentioned more whenever someone asks about granular options. I love Fluss for its simplicity, Spacecraft for its delightful interface, and Borderlands for more things than I can count. But this app provides a level of detail in the controls that is often crucial for working with a complex sample. Adding the oscillator to the mix is a nice musical component.

    4Pockets makes great stuff.

  • Is there any possible way to get the LFO rate slower? Trying to get the position modulation to give that time stretching feel but at its slowest (0.10 hz) it’s still to fast. Slow LFO’s are my fav.
    -Thx
