Roland Space Echo clone , I believe

  • WOW!!! Finally!

  • Yes! Best space echo vst out there, great on desktop! Instabuy here.

  • Cool. I wonder if this one will retain all settings for projects started on iPadOS and then brought over to macOS. Very few plugins do this today, but some devs have figured it out.

  • Oooh! I can’t wait to find out what this is like!

    (Instabuy, game changer, etc.)

  • Can’t wait for this one!

  • Yeah, I’ll be buying that.

  • Looking forward to this one 😁

  • Yeah I’ll be buying that as soon as it’s out. I’ve been after it thanks to Nils Frahm.

  • Let's get spacey!

    At last! :)

    My sentiments exactly 🙌🏽

  • good lord yes plz

  • Oh yeah definitely buying this one day one. I feel like a shill for AudioThing at this point but I just love what they’re doing. And of course that Roland Space Echo is a classic.

The GSI clone is really good but this one looks to be a bit more accurate and more powerful as well.

This is a bugbear for me at the moment. Can you tell me which plugins currently seamlessly transfer settings to their desktop counterparts (and vice versa)?

  • holy sh….finally 😍 My favorite Space Echo emu (though i don‘t know the UAD version)

  • F I N A L L Y

Off the top of my head I believe the FAC (Fred Anton Corvest) apps retain their settings. However, I think the latest iPadOS and macOS updates may have affected this. I had one iPadOS file I just transferred to desktop using Alteza on several tracks and for the first time it did not work for me…

This sounds great. Anyone compared the desktop of this vs the GSI clone? Wonder how they compare.

Thanks for that. Hopefully this stuff will get better soon.

Outer Space is way better, have it on OSX. When GSI released their version I was so excited and hoping it was going to be an alternative for the iPad but for me (personal opinion alert🚨) it turned out to be a bummer. Outer Space is like a swiss army knife, it can sound clean or completely dark and gritty. The spring reverb is great, I hate the one in GSI. Outer Space has sync! It has so many tweaks and twists. The GSI can only sound hissing and wobbly and old. I LOVE the GSI Echo B2 and could not recommend it enough, but their Space Echo emulation is not mine.

This is 'Outer Spaces 2' so it's their OG improved...

And Yes, this is the port from AudioThing I've looked forward to since day one when I saw them entering the iOS arena :sunglasses:

This is how the 'zoom' works, tap on the area outside the plug-in window to zoom-in to enable pan/scroll, double-tap on the border to zoom out.

Thanks. I agree Echo B2 is fantastic. Varispeed too. I like their Space Echo for what it is but as a Roland clone it’s not great. As a cool lofi effect it’s kinda cool. Super excited for this AudioThing emulation. All signs point to it being a much better/more accurate recreation.

The thing is, maybe the GSI Space Echo is a spot on emulation of the device the developer owns himself. I believe these units all sound different, after all it’s an old tape recording/playback thing, very yesterday’s technology. Maybe an accurate emulation therefore simply not possible. I had an email conversation a while back with the dev about the strange sound of the onboard spring reverb, but according to the him that is how his unit sounds. To me it sounds like it needs a fix :# For example, the Space echo spring reverb in Audiothing Springs sounds great (probably the same IRs are used in Outer Space). Last but not least, the GSI space echo on the PC/OSX allows that you can alter a lot of additional settings, but these have all been removed from the iPad version for unknown reasons. :/

  • Is this also mono like the original hardware or does it take stereo in?
