Someone guessed it might be 25th December, just a guess tho I think, based on sth to do with that being their anniversary

  • I wonder what the price point will be

I think €17/18 introduction price. On their website Lines for example is the same price as Outer Space, and Lines for iPad was around 17 something when launched. But I’ll pay 50 if I have too.

  • If you have Audio Thing's "Springs" do you need this?

    Is there major overlap?

Springs are only spring reverbs, the Roland Space echo is a delay with an onboard spring reverb you can turn on or off, amount etc.

Springs only has the spring reverb IRs from the Roland Space echo.

Springs is a reverb unit. Outer Space is a Roland Space Echo emulator.

  • Just skimming the thread, waiting for that “It’s out!” post.

Quite honestly, I find the imperfections a positive benefit - why would you want to make an emulation of an analog piece of gear sound perfect? The bings, bongs, twangs, and farts all make the effected sounds more interesting.

I fully agree. There are so many other digital delays that follow the clock, and sound perfect. Even in the analog days we had the choice of tape delay, BBD's, and new DD's (digital delay). We used them all, for their specific purpose. This hasn't changed until today.

I like the GSi version, it has all what the original device had, although the spring reverb is quite rattling. Just like the original Roland Space Echo, where I used the reverb only a tiny bit, or not at all. Instead using a digital reverb, which was available in that time already. Alesis Midiverb or Lexicon LXP-5. DD's were available some years earlier, at an affordable price. I was lucky to have had a 19" Vestax delay, a copy of a famous Lexicon device, until it was stolen. Then I purchased a Phonic copy, somewhat a copy of a copy of the Lexicon delay line, which is still in my effects rack today.

Much water has flown down the river. In recent times I prefer to use two BBD guitar pedal delays, one of them is the memory man from Electro Harmonix. But the old Phonic DD still gets its use, especially for panning slapback (original mono signal slightly delayed to the other channel). For which BBD's and tape delays are not really suitable. One can try, and it may sound good. But in general slapback panning is for DD's.

I would love a Midiverb or Lexicon clone on iOS.

  • It’s really good. I think today is about the last day of the intro sale.

  • Just wanted to say to anyone still on the fence that Outer Space is one of the most beautiful plugins I’ve ever played.

I’m no expert, but I have been lucky enough to own some Space Echo units over the years. This has more of that intangible magic than just about any substitute that I’ve ever tried, from boutique or vintage pedals, other plugins, or anything else.

The 501 from Nembrini is also great and has some excellent additional functionality such as an amazing chorus and the sound on sound function. It also sounds really nice. But the biggest selling point for Outer Space in my mind is the pure magic of how the echos blend together. It’s inspiring. Of course the correct answer is that you absolutely need both :)

  • Agree with your point @marmakin about the echoes blending together. It sounds absolutely beautiful.
