All LK features has can easily be put in BAM as they share the same core. It is just a matter of UI actually. We didn't want to rush bad design just for the sake of feature packing.
I'm totally appreciate your design approach, thats what make BAM special. Had this random thought about adding a button in the top right, like in LK. But, I checked it out, and the top panel is already a bit of a party, so scratch that idea. It's 0 design expirience here, so let's pretend I was asking for a bud.
We are still polishing important details. What to expect in January in version 1.0.5:
Make the AUv3 internal keyboard support. At least your instruments-DRC with its chord capabilities (so that midi is recorded when pressed). And if there is support for midi mpe recording in the future, it will be great (Slide MPE). But support for internal keyboards would be a great addition. The same Moog is very convenient in this regard.
Thanks for the tip!
I like BAM as it’s a very quick groove box and it works as an audio unit with Drambo which really speeds up my workflow. With the planned updates, it’ll be amazing, right now tho better as a plug-in
Please please explore Drambo more, I was like you once .. now I feel powerful in Drambo, remember patchstorage.com for new patches till you’re super comfortable building your own
I dig Imaginando and all they do. I like BAM a lot but I stopped messing with it because of it crashing during automations. Not sure the reason? I. On an 12.9 iPad Pro 2021 M1 iOS 16.4. Honestly I don’t use my iPad that much to create music these days more to relax and sketch stuff and to make samples. I know there’s probably a way to fix this but I’ve just been lazy. Anyone else have these issues?
If you report the details to the developer and maybe provide crash logs, the developer can look into addressing the issues.
I want to love it but it’s still a little buggy. I’m on iPad Pro m1. It still has slight freezes when loading stuff, not completely seamless and smooth yet. I want it to be my most used app though, I like it a lot, it’s kind of exactly what I want and I love how it looks, how it’s laid out. Comes with really high quality samples. I’m eager for midi fx also. One thing frustrating me recently is that it doesn’t seem to work with Apple Pencil… unless it’s my iPad? But having said all that, I’d recommend it to anyone with the understanding it’s a current work in progress with huge potential
I use it in ape matrix and I think they play very well together. However, it is crashing a lot when I try importing midi files. This is really a major problem for me and hope they will provide us with an update as I already loose some work because of this
Can you please be more specific about the way it was crashing? We are aware of some issues and right now we are precisely looking to improve general stability. If possible, join beta testing so that your crash logs are registered and we have clues on how to fix theses problem. That would be amazing. Thank you!
Would you like to join beta testing? Next version should feature MIDI FX. Apple Pencil is supposed to work too, what problems are you having? Can you please be specific so I can test it mine against it? Thank you!
I'm afraid this is something we haven't been actively testing. Can you please join the beta testing and maybe also share one of this midi files with us, one that you are sure that it will crash, or at least tell us how to reproduce the crash? Thank you!
I can do that. Please send me the link to the beta
Please send me a pvt msg with your email
Hi, thank you for taking the time to respond.
I’d be happy to help out with the beta testing.
I have just tested the Pencil on my iPad Pro M1. The problem I am having specifically with that is that it doesn’t work with any knobs. It works selecting things, changing views, etc, everything, besides knobs values, both on the main page and within windows such as the sampler. Is this just my iPad?
Edit: testing further, if I change a knob value using my finger, I can reset it by double tapping Pencil on it, but I cannot actually move the knob left or right with the pencil.
Thanks again
What about up and down? Sorry, I don't have the Apple Pencil next to me right now to check that now.
We have just published Decembers '23 BAM JAM, the first of a new series of content we will be producing with BAM to showcase it's capabilities:
Hi, thanks again for getting back to me. I’ve just checked and up and down doesn’t work with Pencil either. Unresponsive other than double tap to reset a knob. But no way to turn them. Thanks, all the best
I can confirm. It is not working for knobs. I wonder if this is a new issue. We need to investigate.
You guys are awesome and it’s a brilliant app. I’m drawn to it more than any other. Teething problems aside it’s super intuitive and slick with huge potential. All the best.
This is sick! All internal BAM synths?
I had no idea this worked with the APC MK2 and I was going to sell it. Thank you for this!!!
This video was made with a development version. Hardware controllers support should be deployed in version 1.0.5 in January 2024. We are still wrapping it up.
I’m unable to participate simply because there is no “fantastic” option in the poll. Actually, there is no A or B grade, only C, D, E, and F, haha! 😂
A new groovebox is just what I needed, literally just got it and impressed so far. Finally a good piano roll and clip launcher that's not Gadget! Seems nicely put together feature wise, will return with more feedback when I've used it properly. The follow actions makes this a sequencing beast really. Imaginando has yet to disappoint, time to see how much my 2021 Ipad can handle..
With a good deal coming on Bam (probably), I'm wondering if anybody is using it on Desktop and iOS. I'm looking for a nice way to transfer stuff from my iPad to my desktop (or possibly vice versa), that is not just the audio files, but a bit of structure, too. Endlesss wasn't too bad for that, but well...
I did a bit of reading, but couldn't figure out those points:
1 can you transfer project files with audio included easily and open them on both platforms?
2 Can you freeze tracks, so you have auv3 output as audio?
3 Can you record audio?
4 does Bam support MPE?
I'm interested in the answers to these questions as well. The sale is here, gotta decide.
