  • Yes! 🙌🏻 I’m stoked to see what’s in store!

If I already have a subscription do I need to start another one or will my current one continue into the new year?

Your current one should just auto-renew as usual. That is one of the nice things about Subscriptions! :)

  • Am I right in thinking the minimum system requirements will be iOS 15 and that, while existing subscriptions will still be processed, the move to Store Kit 2 means it won't be possible to make new purchases in older versions from 1 January? (This could be useful to know for anyone on older systems who hasn't yet taken advantage of the end-of-year discount on the still-amazing Wotja 23…) I thought I also remembered seeing that my Catalina desktop Mac would be left behind, and have been migrating my Wotja activity to my Ventura MacBook in readiness, though I can't now find where that was heads-upped.

Anyway, good luck with this slightly nerve-racking test of the new featuregrade model, and massive thanks and congrats on all the work that's led up to this annual high spot. My favourite thing about New Year's Eve is the ritual of staying up till the new Wotja goes live in the App Store and then losing myself in it all over again. No wonder the annual feature drop has been declared a public holiday.

    Correct: See - https://wotja.com/releases/#w23-14-0

and that, while existing subscriptions will still be processed, the move to Store Kit 2 means it won't be possible to make new purchases in older versions from 1 January?

W23: We expect (but cannot be 100% sure) that SUBS will continue to work in the W23 version on older iOS (i.e. older than iOS 15), hence if you cannot update iOS on your device to iOS15+ we suggest in the page above the option of getting a 23 Pro OTB whilst on end of year sale (31st Dec is the last day for that). The 30U option should still continue to work, however, but that is only for the device one which it is purchased.

Thanks for checking! We provide a heads up on the new OS requirements on the page above, and (briefly) here: https://wotja.com/news/

Anyway, good luck with this slightly nerve-racking test of the new featuregrade model, and massive thanks and congrats on all the work that's led up to this annual high spot.

Thank you so much, we really appreciate it. As I know you know, we always try to put customers first above everything and always to go the extra mile for them. 2023 has truly been a particularly hard year as the change to the new (and in some ways pioneering) featuregrade model, and which is to the advantage of every customer, has had so many parts in to it get right.

My favourite thing about New Year's Eve is the ritual of staying up till the new Wotja goes live in the App Store and then losing myself in it all over again. No wonder the annual feature drop has been declared a public holiday.

Ha ha :) You are so kind. We hope you like it - I have a feeling there is one particular New Feature that will keep you up for a good old while ;).

    Best wishes

  • Hey guys!

I wish to add one more thing that about Wotja that is not often talked about. Yes, Wotja is a great piece of software with very responsive support all is nice.. but in addition to these, it also sports the BEST pricing model in the App Store. Today, Between apps that only offer unwarranted subscription options, and apps where you pay for once but then they get abandoned, Wotja has been implementing the most beautiful pricing model of “pay once, get updates for a year, keep everything you paid for forever”. I think that is one of its strongest selling points. To be brutally honest, if it were sub only, I would never have subbed. The thing that keeps me buying the app year after year is the fact that, if I stopped paying, I’d still own it forever.

Cheers Intermorphic, have a great year!

Thanks so much for what you wrote. It has been incredibly challenging for Pete and I to get the featuregrade model in place for Wotja. It has taken near enough a whole year to iron out the kinks (and we hope we now have!), and that is partly because Wotja is a complex system.

We know the model can be hard to grok initially and we are still trying to figure out how best to explain it concisely. We will keep working on that.

All we know is that it should be to the benefit of ALL customers as all App (software) updates are now free. An existing OTB customer only needs to pay to unlock any New Features we add if they want to use them in Pro mode.

Will it work for us (in terms of enough people deciding to do that) so that we can fund further development/evolution? We don't really know frankly, but we hope so. We just believe that if we do right by our customers then hopefully enough will reciprocate!

Cheers Intermorphic, have a great year!

Thank you, and the same to you!

Pete and I are both very appreciative of your continued support!

  • Hi Folks

Wotja 24.0.0 should be available for you on Jan 1st 00:00 local time.

Here are the key new things for those who are interested (there are other fixes and improvements and we hope to find time to note some of those on the releases page in due course).

If you do not, then whilst that New Feature is in use Wotja will operate in Lite mode.

  • And I see the updated manual is now live with full mouthwatering details (including that the new Macro Oscillator 2 and Resonator modules are MI Plaits and Rings respectively). Busy times ahead…

  • Longest waiting time until midnight local time 😬

    Sorry about that! ;)

  • Hey

Heya! I am unable to purchase the one-time buy. The description for the article is missing , I am only presented with the dialog box but when I click “Yes please!” nothing happens. I have purchased the W23 One-time buy before .

Hmm. That is indeed a weird and perplexing one and I have just tried and I see that as well. Very sorry. :( The 24 Pro OTB is approved for sale and so it should be available for purchase. Drat :(. I am afraid this is looking like one Pete will need to dig into, as from what I can see all should be fine. Thanks for letting us know and we hope we can resolve it ASAP!!

    Hey all,

Firstly, I'd like to offer congratulations on successfully launching Wotja 24!

The update has just come through on the Windows store, so I've taken it for a brief spin. It appears as though there may have been an issue with the updated and changed schemas. The '23 "flows" are no longer applying certain effects like the reverbs (but possibly more, it all sounds off), which leaves the sound quite dry compared to the sounds generated in years past. This is most noticeable in "only pads" and "only piano" but is heard universally across every flow type. Might be worth a look-over?

Just to confirm I have this too, on desktop; I thought till I read this that it was intentional (as I have a sub, though of course you'd still want the OTB to be available for prospective switchers). Android version hasn't dropped yet, so I can't confirm whether it's also appearing there.

Wotja 23 continues to work fine on my older devices and systems apart from a nag to update that appears on every launch. I see the rationale, but it feels a bit in tension with the featuregrade model's rationale of letting you stick with the old feature set till you're ready or flush enough to move up, which in my case would mean buying a whole new iPad after I've already paid for the 24 feature set anyway and just want to be able to play my old files on the iPad. I'm hoping either it's time-limited or I'll get used to it or I'll only be using it sporadically on those devices. Not a biggie, but maybe worth bearing in mind for next year.

More importantly, this upgrade is really something. TTA is wild and the instant gratification level stupid, and the new MI modules are deep deep deeeep. New soundfonts and presets sound great and now I have to go off and replace all my old strings and pianos with the new ones. Still getting my head round the Schema changes and what scriptability will bring there, but it feels like it could be incredible. Congratulations on an amazing raft of new features. You must have worked your absolute socks off. Hope you at least got a Christmas this year, unlike last…

  • Same here with the one time buy. Also doesn’t mention a price.

    Glad it's not just me...!

  • Hi all!

Ever heard of "the best laid plans of mice and men"?!

Anyhow: we're very sorry about this.

Despite having tested the IAP changes to oblivion - somehow the proverbial "line of code" went missing last month.

We're Just completing the testing of the fix, before we submit the updated binary.

With best wishes to one and all,

    Pete

Just one question are previous versions of WOTJA supported with bug fixes as just reopened WOTJA Pro 21 and getting quite a few issues with the App not staying in host, mixes on the clipboard going missing even though the app telling me to load it etc ?

We think the issue is only on Apple.

Thanks for letting us know on that. We put that alert in place (in the free App) before we went Featuregrade. It was there to give people a heads up that they are still using an old version and that there is a free update available to the next major version. Of course, at that time we had not foreseen that we would need to change the OS requirements. Hmm. We will deliberate.

More importantly, this upgrade is really something. TTA is wild and the instant gratification level stupid,

    Tx :)

and the new MI modules are deep deep deeeep. New soundfonts and presets sound great and now I have to go off and replace all my old strings and pianos with the new ones.

The older ones still have a use, it just depends on context.

Still getting my head round the Schema changes and what scriptability will bring there, but it feels like it could be incredible.

We hope so, and Root/Scale Rule selections are used in the new Schemas (which we will look to fine tune/improve as we move forward).

Congratulations on an amazing raft of new features. You must have worked your absolute socks off.

It was a long long year, that is for sure....

Hope you at least got a Christmas this year, unlike last…

Thanks very much! It was a bit better than last year, thankfully, but unfortunately there was still so much to get ready/done in time for release that I still needed to work all the way up to New Year's Eve. Hey ho. There is always next Xmas ;).
