270 seconds is absolutely okay as soon as the sample management is better implemented as in the ESX. The ESX can manage a maximum of 128 single samples per memory card, regardless how big the card is. There is a workaround to import single samples from .esx files, but this way you have to identify the samples by numbers (and not by their names). I really hope this annoying limitation is history with the new Electribe Sampler.
@Tarekith You mentioned being able to export both stems and a single stereo mixdown wav file, I've been trying to find that mixdown option. In the Data Utility I choose Export Audio, inside that menu i can choose either Ableton or wav. Both options renders each part as a stem though, with the only difference being the als file for ableton i guess. The other export option I can find is the Pattern Set, but also renders each part as a stem (btw, why did Korg limit this to1-64, what if my patterns are locate above 64? Oh well..). Did i miss something OR WAZ U LYING?!
I waz lying.
Noooooo
Btw, is it possible to copy a sound/part from one pattern into another somehow? Doesn't seem like it (and I have a very vague memory of this already being covered here but I'm just too lazy too search atm). I was thinking having like the last 10-15 patterns, out of the 250 available, being placeholders that I could fill up with "presets" this way, and later just dive in and copy a sound into whatever pattern I'm currently working on. Someone said something about that's how ppl did it on the older emx..? Or perhaps that was more like saving complete patterns with presets, and use that as a starting point.? Ugh too much time spent starring at the E2s screen this evening
Edit: Never mind, I found the answer to that further back in this thread. Another feature I really wish they'll add..
You can't export MIDI files at all, only audio stems in wav format or Ableton Live format. I had thought that exporting to wav stems also created a mixed wav file of all the parts, but I must have been mistaken (lied), as ChrisG discovered
Note to midi in ableton is handy for converting your melody and drums to midi
Might be best if you sell it then, sounds like you're not very happy with it.

Dude, honestly I haven't got a clue about what you're trying to say
try some commas.
Sorry about that. Note, to midi in ableton, is handy for, converting your,, melody and drums, to midi,
,
Lol
Anyone else messed around with the audio pulse/click sync on the E2? I wished that they had made it work more like their sync app which besides bpm also changes the swing along with the pattern/swing-knob. And also stops when it's, well stopped. Right now the Electribe is constantly sending out a click, wether it's playing or not.
I'm completely new to this sync method, but in my mind it would make more sense to only transmit a click when it's playing, that way the gear you have connected to it would follow along better, and it would also let the Electribe capture and render the audio properly when exporting wav stems.
Audio to midi is a function in ableton
I emailed Korg USA about the sampler version to find out a release date and got this info from them:
"Thank you for your email and for your interest in the Electribe Sampler.
We estimating the Electribe Sampler to be in stores in Early April."
Which stores, and which April though?
Which stores, and which April though?
Who knows. All I know is that I watched your review of the regular version and thought it was badass. I really want the sampler version so I can load in my own loops and samples to play along with our ableton sets. It can't come soon enough.
Let's keep our fingers crossed the date doesn't slip then :-)
Originally, Sweetwater said mid-March, which got me excited to break it out at a gig at the end of the month. That ain't happenin' now! Thanks a lot, Korg!
So let me ask this, cause I'm kind of new to the whole hardware sampler world. I keep seeing people saying 270 seconds of mono audio per set or something. Does that mean that EACH pad can hold 270s (mono) or 135s (stereo) samples, or is it those amounts TOTAL per whatever. My groups live setup is Ableton live with some controllers run by my partner, and I have 3 kaoss pads daisy chained together with 2 guitar fx pedals, which I run all my vocals through. I want to use the new electribe sampler to both trigger samples and loops taken from stems of our tracks, while also creating new patterns and such on the fly. How do the sampling amounts work?
I think those figures are referring to total per loaded project, but I'd imagine one pad can chew up all of that capacity if you wanted. If you were looking for more, the Roland SP-404SX would probably be your best fit.
Wow. That 404 looks awesome but it's missing the synth part. I love the korg ability to be both a synth and a sampler. I'd love to be able to afford both pieces, but that's not in the cards yet.
I like the idea of the korg giving me both sampling and synthesis in one unit, esp one that is so portable. However, the roland seems like it would be more versatile for live sampling and loops. I wonder if a software update to the korg will allow for larger sampling times.
I understand you perfectly, definitely want to hear your thoughts on the electribe sampler when it comes out, I hope you get one first : )
You must be new to this. You're gonna have a lot more heartbreaks if you take pre-order arrival dates seriously.
270 seconds of mono (half that if stereo) is the maximum total amount you can have loaded on the device at once. It's a short-sighted limitation on the hardware that can't be fixed through software updates. Besides, Korg is known for putting out something just a bit too limited only to bring out a new slightly improved one a few years later.
iPad is your best bet for all of the above.
yeah I'm not sure the sp-404 does live looping, does it?
Not with the way I treat my gear! I also hate apple products. And I'm def not new to this, just never actually wanted something before it was released, haha.
Bah. Why can't what I want just exist!?
The SP-555 has the looper and the (silly novelty D-Beam) synth. The 404(SX) has loop option for samples, but not a proper looper. The 404SX is excellent for storing and triggering (long) loops, quick sampling, and live-playing effects.
The Electribe Sampler has a looper? And what kind of synthesis options are we talking? Waveform oscillators? Or just the filters and envelopes applied to samples?
Maybe the new Mini Kaoss Sampler can achieve some of what you want for cheap, @RadioactiveSandwich? Don't know much about what and when to expect on that.
I see. What brings you to the audiobus forum?
This thread specifically. It's the most comprehensive one I've found yet discussing anything related to the electribes.
I assumed you could loop parts, but maybe I'm wrong . the mini kaoss sampler won't be comprehensive enough for me. My 3 regular kaoss pads have some sampling and looping, but it's not perfect.
Yeah 404 or ES will loop samples/parts. I was referring to a live looper because @kobamoto mentioned.
The Akai MPX16 is another option for triggering samples and effects. Large SD card memory. Half the price of 404 and ES. Can't speak on quality.
