Plugin Alliance is having a custom bundle deal for the month:

    https://www.plugin-alliance.com/deals.html

I'm thinking of grabbing a channel strip and I can't decide between the SSL E, Helios Type 69, API and the Neve 1073. I mostly like to mess with synthpop/wave sounds and 80s type rock stuff, so you'd figure the SSL E or G would be it. The others are charming too though.

What I really want is a Trident A Range but they don't have it. :)

The Lindell audio channel strips are really good on there, I like them a bit more than the Brainworx ones

  • Scuffham SGear is down from $129 to $89 until April 16.

At least try the demo. There still is no better amp emulation sim IMO.

I decided to download the trials from PA. 👍

  • PA Stuff used to be much more aggressively marketed when Dirk still ran the company. You could regularly get almost any plug-in for less than $10. And often for free (they often had $20 no minimum spend vouchers).

My average cost per PA plugin is well under $5.

Lindell 80 is one of the few I actually use, but as a colour box or drum smasher (NUKE mode rules) rather than as a channel strip. it's a pain to use for EQ with those dumb concentric knobs which might work with hardware but most certainly didn't need emulating in the UI. Lindell 50 is pretty good too for colour. A little can go a long way.

I have the PA Focusrite channel strip as well and a few others (I've collected a few freebies and as part of bundles) and don't use any of them anymore.

Arturia FX collection has a Trident pre-amp/EQ which sounds pretty nice.

The FX collection is a steal when they do their black friday type deals every now and then... I'd get that over anything PA to be honest and it comes with a lot of other fx I use all the time.

I paid $99 for FX collection 2. And $29 to upgrade to FX 3. It's worth that for efx_FRAGMENTS alone. :)

  • Softube has a Trident as well, it’s actually on sale for $60 on plugin boutique right now. The one from Red Rock Sounds is really good too but Softube is really good. They do use ilok though if you can’t stand that

Alternatively you can get T-Racks 5 MAX v2 for <$68 at jrrshop with code GROUP.

It comes with plenty of channel strip type stuff including Neve and SSL emulations (but not a Trident).

53 plugins. Some are pretty great such as the tape machines, tape echo, stealth limiter, sunset studio+Fame reverbs etc.

    Crazy value.

It’s not Apple silicon native. Buy for 79p I think it’s worth a punt — might be upgraded ;-)

    I’m tempted by the fx collection — <£20. It's on Krotos.com for nearly £420!

  • I don't know if this is considered a "deal", but I just got an email today that I could upgrade to Live 12 Lite from my Live 11 Lite license, so that's been released. The just-released version of Ableton Note on iOS also now includes a Live 12 Lite license. The new version includes two new packs with a whole mess of instrument and drum racks.

Replying to myself here, but I just stumbled upon what I think it's a Trident A Range emulation with the serials scratched off. It's by Red Rock Sounds who I think have a pretty good reputation. Trying to find out some reviews of the plugin itself. It's also on sale at the moment for just $19, though apparently it's been as low as $15. Softtube's version is $59 at the moment.

That's cool, but also a bit crazy. Looks like everything can be upgraded except the version of Live (Intro) I have.

Huh. An interesting data point is that when I look at pricing for Intro, Standard and Suite from my Ableton account, I get a $100 discount to upgrade from Lite to Standard or Suite, but no discount to upgrade to Intro. Maybe they just don't offer upgrade pricing for Intro in any circumstance.

ETA: That also seems to be true on Thomann (though I note that you can get a Live 12 Intro license there for $69, so that's something)

  • That seems to be correct. It seems you can upgrade everything but Intro, which is what I use. I told them I'd just buy it used. They didn't care.
