Audiokit AR-909 Drum Machine is 50% off at $9.99

I had to check the price at Appslice, since I don't remember it ever being so high... And I see this.

    Is this a joke?
Audio kit @analog_matt fix your old apps first so someone can use it as auv3s without dropped notes and apps crashing because now, by making them so expensive you just in fact lowered your sales very effectively.

Well, I like AK, no disrespect, but maybe since they kept saying their apps will be $19.99 in the App Store description, but really never went up that high, they decided to put them up there for posterity. Hopefully they come back down eventually.

I think it’s because those apps have been superseded by King of Fm and King of Digital…if he takes them down it’d cause issues for those who still own them, so instead make them more expensive so people would buy the newer ones instead

But more expensive means better right??? 🤔 😂

I think the irony here is forum members ‘supporting’ developers by lurking all day waiting for discounts

    Hahahaha. You nailed it sir

I realize that was a tongue in cheek comment. There is a certain irony to it, I’ll give you that, it’s not lost on me. There are however many ways to support a developer besides paying full price for an app. Beta testing, IAP tips, App Store reviews, follows, likes, retweets, subscriptions, recommending their apps, buying their merch, supporting their work, word of mouth, and many more. Everyone is in a different financial situation, and saving money on a purchase is just a natural part of consumerism, everyone wants to get a good price.

A discount is also a powerful marketing/sales/advertising/promotional tool. All discounts are a two way street and done for reasons that benefit both sides or else they would never happen. The consumer saves a few dollars, but the company/developer gets the promotional benefits of a sale, which increases interest in their work, generates new users/fans/customers, some of who might have otherwise never purchased their product, and the publicity/advertising from sales being shared on sites/groups/etc... Lowering the price allows more people to afford the app. It’s no different than shopping for groceries with coupons, or using Groupon/RetailMeNot/Slickdeals/etc… I don’t support something less if I got it on sale, it actuality makes me buy/try new things, I might not have at regular pricing. Most importantly If the quality is there, and I’m satisfied with the purchase, it actually helps build my support, makes me return for more.

Sorry for the dissertation, lol, I don’t want to get too sidetracked here, I’m pretty sure you were just joking, but I wanted to separate the idea that getting a product on sale means you are not supporting something. The promotional sale benefits both sides, or else you would not see advertisements about sales & specials all over the place. Cheers.

The opposing irony is that i buy apps discounted or whole price and forget i even have them, or use it once and never again. Maybe not because its not good, but other reasons.

I think its a hallucination to think the system is fair or somehow balances itself in any way though

I wasn’t trying to be a jerk at all. You’re right, It’s not fair or balanced, not many things are, unfortunately. I just think it’s important to remember that there are some benefits for both parties in these situations.

Tbh I had the same exact thought about the sales, and support thing a few weeks ago. So I know where you are coming from. Cheers!

I didnt take it like that at all. The thing people have in common here is their love of this emerging scene. Even in real life people dont know when Im joking or being sarcastic or what and maybe I just come off as mean lol

Im a big fan of this thread, despite the irony.

Yea right on, I’ll be the first to admit that text is not a good form of communication and It’s easy to misunderstand text. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page and I wasn’t offending you. It’s all good mate. Cheers to irony!

Oscilab is also on sale, $3 off at $1.99

Got Oscilab. No updates for 7 years but it seems to work just fine on my iPad Pro. I generated some grooves within just a few minutes that were pretty nice, and the interface is very intuitive and easy to use. A fun app.

It is definitely a fun and unique app.

You are one of the true guardians of this forum. Thank you for that. I appreciate it so much. 🤗

The word "support" is sometimes taken too seriously. I’m guilty of that, too.

Cheers mate! Yea it can be a loaded word.

I’ve only had a couple of quick plays through but so far I would say they’re really close sound wise. The reverb on AudioThings is better and sounds like a spring vs the hall on Fingerlabs version. You also get bias, leakage, and speaker parameters in addition to a better vibrato.

The Fingerlabs app has a full ADSR envelope though as well as a more comprehensive effects section. I can see myself using both tbh but if you already have the Fingerlabs app you’re probably fine unless you just want another. I’m admittedly a sucker for old transistor and combo organs so I gotta collect them all.

I’m a sucker for them as well.
Nothing straddles the line between the ridiculous and the sublime like a combo organ!

Lol that’s a perfect description. They can also get pretty weird if you push them and they have a mind of haunting quality that I love.

One thing I forgot to mention, you can adjust the key click on the AudioThing app. Turning the transistors off put the key click and leakage all the way up with some distortion and reverb, throw on a delay, and you’re in some crazy territory 😂

I can never get these to work. I redownload them occasionally but usually it’s a no go. Every once in a while it’ll be okay but 80% of the time it’s not. “Open in” doesn’t work and importing in the app doesn’t work.
