plugdata (Pure Data implementation) for iPad and iPhone
I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, it's been available since late November. It's currently in an "early preview" sort of state (including not being able to open files and not supporting AUv3), but I'm excited for the future of the project on iOS (it's already great as a standalone and a plugin on desktop):

Nice, thanks!
Oh ma does this mean I’ll be able to open lira8!?
There is another one which can do that, pd party maybe? It didn’t work as well as I’d hoped though, but still interesting
The other one was a bit scrolly. This works really well! Now here’s hoping for auv3!!
Still this is awesome!
Most likely as it already works just fine on desktop. I plan on compiling the project myself this week and try to load it and other pre-built patches; I'll let you know. Maybe I can help the developer with the file opening issues in the process.
One thing that's interesting about this project is that it's under the GPL v3 license. I saw a reference in another thread (I think it was the one about open sourcing Xequence) that apparently this was no longer incompatible with distribution through the app store, so this seems to provide proof of that. It could open the door to other projects being ported.
I found the lira 8 in the extras tab. I have no idea about working with pd but I tip my hat off to you!!
Thanks so much!!!!
Oh it's already there, nice!!
Nice, nice find.
Thank you for the rabbit hole 😄 been meaning to learn more about puredata for ages, now if anyone could point me in the direction where I can start!
There's huge amount of resources on internet. One place to try is youtube, do a search for 'pure data tutorials'. I've been through a number in the very comprehensive playlist of 'cheetomoskeeto', which may be especially suitable if you have experience with programming. But just poke around on youtube and you'll find a lot.
Oh cool, thanks for sharing!
@Grandbear hi! I saw your version of the benjolin on discord! Good work! Is there any way of playing around with this on iPad?!? Sorry I’m totally a novice at this sort of stuff
Thanks! It should be as easy as opening benjolin-help.pd, but none of the methods I tried for opening files worked, so we need to wait until this is fixed
Thanks! I can wait
Tim (the main dev) says that he's already fixed it and will be part of the next version
Yes I’m unable to open files I saved as well. Even new patches created within the app. Is that hopefully included in the upcoming fix?
That would be MobMuPlat.
I’m hoping for a release soon as not being able to reload your patches makes it rather pointless at the moment! It’s fun to play with it though!!
The update is out!
wow! looks like we have pd now on ipad!
Anyone know if there are plans for AUV3? Having Lira8 in AUM would be a dream
This new version already supports AUv3, it's a bit buggy (opening files, state saving, param scaling, layout) but it does generate and process audio
Ah okay! That’s awesome news. I can live without the other features for now. I’m super excited to dive in though. Lira8 in AUM 🤩
I changed plugdatas document storage from iCloud to iPad and things got more stable.
@HotStrange , et al:
For those of you, who like me need a visual guide, see the images below on how to load up plugdata AUv3 correctly with LIRA-8 running.
In AUM, load up plugdata and then open the “Documentation Browser” by pressing the “i” icon in the far right window, then expand “Extra” -> “Presets” -> “LIRA-8” and click/double click ”LIRA-8.pd” to load up. Once you get the zoom correct (try setting plugdata’s default zoom to 75%), it should be easy to navigate the LIRA-8 interface and run your droning audio through any AUM magic you can dream up.
The interface is slightly fiddly and I can’t figure out how to get the primary buttons 1-8 to automatically toggle the oscillator on/off. It appears that hitting “x” for each oscillator 1-8 manually twice will cause the note to fade / envelope to close, as expected, with a “fast” envelope and a 10-15 second “not fast” envelope. “Hold” functionality also works for your never ending drones. It seems to behave more or less like the physical box it is emulating (as much as pd via iPadOS / iOS software can). I’d love to see if anybody can get the toggle functionality working and assigned to AUM accessible MIDI control parameters. If anybody figures that out, please share! Also, would love to hear what people come up with it!
Note: I have not checked tuning or run through extended use test.
Have fun droning.
Thanks @jihi but how do you get to see the far right "i" icon in AUv3? The window is cut out on the right and I can't seem to expand it. Just like in your AUM screenshots.
Everything works in standalone of course.
Thanks!
I would love to hear someone's example of a cool Lira8 patch. I have heard a lot of praise but have never found the right parameters I guess.
On my iPad (running 16.6.1), i am not seeing the i icon when running the AU. I saw that LIRA 8 appears in the AUM preset menu, When I select it, audio happens but the LIRA ui doesn't appear. Any ideas?
Thanks @jihi will be referring back to this in just a couple hours while I give it a go
@jihi thank you
It works somehow, and it’s possible plugdata will be updated to resolve all problems with operating
Sound is fantastic, I’m quite excited to see pd as auv3 soon working ok
