Hey all just to add my voice to the choir... I can now add patches in the standalone ( tested with @Grandbear's benjolin for plugdata patch) which is awesome however when I load PD into aum, everything is greyed out/unresponsive) and I cant expand the window far enough to the right to access those options.
The one weird thing is as @espiegel123 mentioned if you load an instrument as aum preset the sound starts but there's no instrument on screen.
@catherder I couldn't find an option to change PD to store files locally. Is that something within the app or somewhere else!? Thanks!!!
Similar experience with the AUv3 here, I even tried reducing the interface scale in the settings but can’t get to the close icon as it’s also on the right 😅
I can’t find the benjolin patch though, even in the standalone…
Benjolin you have to download from here: https://github.com/jipumarino/benjolin
Extract it somewhere logical for you and then you can load the file called benjolin help pd using the open saved patch command )
Ah nice one, I thought it was included and I just wasn’t finding it 🙏
You change the storage location from with the iOS settings. Open settings, scroll down to plugdata and you can change the apps permissions and storage options.
Is there anywhere to properly report issues? Maybe the more of us that report these issues the more likely it is to be fixed.
.
Are you sure about this link? This looks like else, not plugdata
Have the same AUv3 problems, hope it’s fixed soon, love to have pd inside AUM or miRack! 😍
Report Issues here: https://github.com/plugdata-team/plugdata/issues or discord
I remember back in the days of MobMuPlat and Pd-Party that there was a fundamental issue porting to AU (due to libpd on iOS)
You couldn't work multiple instances , hopefully it's ok now
Working fine for me if you use the instrument AUv3 and load the patches from the extras tab, but was stuck when trying the AUv3 effect I think.
Lira 8 working well in AU here, it reminds me of Fundamental, nice synth.
I wonder if it’s possible to use it with midi?
The extras tab isn’t visible to me in the AUv3. Interesting that it is visible on some people’s devices but not others.
Here it is as an AU for me (changing the aspect ratio of the window never results in the right-side tools being visible
Here it is as a standalone. The tools are visible:
What host are you guys using? Seems to work okay as standalone for me, but I get same results as some others when loaded as AUv3 in AUM, Apematrix, Drambo: plugin app shows up but is unresponsive, can load a preset via host menu and it seems to load (e.g.., lira starts buzzing) but nothing shows up in plugin's ui.
I have the same issues re no access to the RH tools, no preset UI if you use AUM’s preset loader instead etc.
iPad Pro M2 11”, iPadOS 17.2
Hope they can fix this - so much potential if it can be made to work!
All of these issues have been reported on Discord and the Github repo, so I think we need to wait now. Remember that according to the main dev this is still "early preview" software. One good sign is that the Elastic apps developer (all of which use libpd, IIRC) is now active on the Discord server, so I would hope he can help with ironing them out.
Thanks for letting us know!
Cool, thanks for the info. I saw this thread and didn't think much of it; I know there have been attempts at enabling PD use on iOS and they haven't been very impressive or useful. But I then realized that "plugdata" is the same version of PD that I've fooled around with before on desktop and been very impressed with. This guy (main dev of plugdata) knows what he's doing.
That’s great, thanks for letting us know.
Yeah annoying....stopped working now for me, can't seem to access that menu any more. Not sure how I got it working originally, must have been a fluke and the AU state saving doesn't recall the gui of lira-8.
Just had a play with the great Eurorack-style modules from Automatonism and I highly recommend them for quick patching.
Great tip! Thank you, I'm not good with this modular stuff but I was following one of the tutorials on the site and after some minor struggling got started some basic stuff. Pretty fun
Ok I found a workaround which others can try to get Lira-8 working in AUv3 for now until a fix.
I opened it in the standalone, from the extras tab. Then loaded the AUv3 instrument, from the recent files box it has the Lira-8 patch, loading that works consistently for me so far.
extras tab?
Yeah, it's on the right hand sidebar, the documentation browser( "i" icon over the book.) select that, then unfold the extras folder to get to the presets patches.
For me its totally unresponsive when used as an AUv3...> @Carnbot said:
Tried that before...doesn't work for me...
That doesn't work for me. The recent files is blank for me in the AUv3 and the user interface is no-responsive.
Yeah I've had that unresponsiveness too, try changing the files access to on my ipad in settings if it's not that, fiddling wth that may help, otherwise I can't see what else can fix it, I think a files access thing is causing the freezing somehow.
The other thing to try is to save the patch (from the top left hamburger menu) after you've opened it from the extras tab. This might be what gets it to show up in the recent files/AUv3. I managed to make this work on my iphone too in AUM and apeMatrix.
No luck with that here...
likewise.
