    Purchased on sale :)

    Thanks!

I don't think I need this, but I skimmed the Jade demo video and saw the auto mix where you can drop files onto it to replace or mix. And I saw the crossfades built in. Good stuff!

Overall looks less fussy than my other audio editors... and, that the dev says he's working on making this totally universal for native macOS use as well, decided to go ahead a grab now. :)

Yes, I"m now having the THIRD attempt at making the Mac version, because both of the technologies Apple offers for "easy" porting of iOS apps ("Catalyst" and "Designed for iPad") are too limited in practice. But progress is great (i.e. it's almost done)!

Awesome 🤩 can’t wait 😜 to use on macOS!

@SevenSystems by the way... I downloaded Meow specifically to buy the sale IAP, but I found it difficult to find where to buy it. It wasn't until I tried to export a quick test edit that I saw that I could buy the IAP.

There's a dedicated "Upgrade" section in the "i" dialog:

(this was added on request -- the only way to buy the IAP actually used to be to try to "Save").

Seriously, I looked around the app for nearly 10mins trying to find it. I even hit "restore purchases" which it indicated that it did restore my purchase, even though I hadn't actually purchased it yet. As mentioned, it wasn't until I tried to save/export that I got the prompt that it's a free trial and that if I want to export/save, I need to buy the IAP.

So you were already in the "i" dialog -- I guess the "Upgrade" and "Save & Share" button (with a shopping cart icon next to it!) isn't clear enough then? (serious question! 🤔)

    Great editor. Purchased!

🙏 Drop any suggestions here if you have them.

Will do. Also purchased Xequence 2 today. Seems incredible app!

Brilliant! Thanks a lot. As always, open to suggestions and feedback. I think there's a few dedicated Xequence 2 threads here somewhere even :)

Hmmm... to be clear, I'm not criticizing your method. I'm just giving you my honest opinion based on my purchase experience.

I downloaded your app, not because I wanted to play with it or test it out, etc. I downloaded it as someone who has already played with the app... does not actually need the app... but wants to support your effort with hope that it does become completely universal with an included macOS version. That's what I'm really after :)

So, I was just trying to download and buy quickly.

Also, I don't think the way you have it now is a big deal. It's fine. If someone wants to buy, it's not that hard to figure out.

To answer you question... this was my process/experience. I saw it was on sale, knew I kinda liked your interface and that you said you were working on macOS universality. Decided I wanted to support that and went to download the app to buy.

I open the app and look for the usual annoying "buy me" messages. lol. Thankfully, there weren't any. ;)

I clicked around the app to see if a buy button was present. I clicked the ? and looked around for a buy button. Then, I clicked the "i" button and first saw the "restore purchase" button. I figured if I restored purchase, it'd see that I hadn't purchased it yet and present me a button to buy now. Instead, it said "purchases restored". I then wondered, "Did he make it free for Easter or something? Why would it say it restored my purchase when I haven't purchased anything yet? Maybe because I was briefly on the beta? That doesn't make any sense."

Then, I imported an audio file to try out the fades, cross fade feature, and a couple other features I didn't know about until skimming the Jade video. Then, I went to save/export. I expected that if the purchase was not indeed recorded, I'd finally get an opportunity to buy the IAP at that point. Which it did, and I purchased.

I saw the icon to the left of the restore purchases button, but for some reason it didn't register to me as a way to buy the IAP. Probably because I just read the "share & save" and thought that's all the button was for.

Yes, it has a shopping cart and you would think it'd be obvious, but it was not.

I would suggest changing it to either "Buy: Share & Save" or "Purchase: Share & Save".

It could just be I was in a hurry and no one else would have trouble making the connection.

Again, I'm not criticizing anything. Just letting you know that for some reason, the act of purchasing your IAP didn't seem as obvious as it should.

  • @SevenSystems I see that I can copy from one opened audio file in Meow… then open another audio file to replace it and then paste the copied section into the newly opened file… but, is there a way to use the General Pasteboard to copy a file from AudioShare or another audio app, and paste into a Meow edit project?

Hey, sorry for not replying to your previous post yet, will do so tomorrow! Regarding the clipboard: It's currently internal to Meow so you can't paste across different apps, but this is on the list to investigate for a future update and will probably arrive at some point.

You can, however, drag & drop into Meow from other apps, which will also give you the option to Insert, Replace or Mix.

General Pasteboard would be nice if your investigation turns up a good way to do it… provided it doesn’t complicate the macOS version :)

Also, no need to reply to my previous message. If no one else has trouble finding the IAP purchase button, then disregard my message and write it off that I was just in a hurry and didn’t make the connection.

If you get any more feedback that users don’t quickly find the IAP purchase button, it might be a good idea to add the suggested word “buy” or “purchase” to the current button for added clarity

  • I really hope the system clipboard support is added soon-ish. It would add a lot of utility for my use-case—destructive editing of loopy pro clips.

Ya know… simply putting the files I want to play with in a Files folder and then dragging/dropping into Meow from there is perfectly workable for my use. Not sure I even really need the copy/paste from General Pasteboard to be honest.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Any chance there’ll be an auto chop/slice function at any point? I currently use neon or reaper for that but much prefer the workflow and interface of
    Meowmeow…

Glad you found a workaround -- however I'll still look into it whenever I get a chance.

Do you mean by transients or by beats/bars? How do you envision this? Should it then save all the individual slices automatically as individual files?

  • I like everything about this editor! It’s so easy to quickly edit a wave. Having a hard time finding anything to suggest at the moment - it’s just perfect.

Come to think of it… would be nice to have General Pasteboard when using an iPhone. :)

Both would be great, I usually have non timed stuff so use transients for the most part, but lately I’ve been sequencing my experiments so they’re much more lined up to a grid… and automatically saving them would be epic, as long as the initial splits could be seen somehow - all sounds a bit “non trivial” now though 😅

:) If you drop me a short summary on how other apps that you consider a good experience do it, I'll take notes!

Maybe this question has been previously answered, but for the iOS / iPhone version, what is the maximum file length duration that can be processed and edited? Suppose I record an entire chamber music class recital that runs 2 1/2 hours in one file and in 32-bit float 48khz format (as I’m needed backstage and have no sound engineer), and I’ll want to normalize the volume and divide up the file into separate clips for each ensemble after the concert is over. I know I can import such a long file into Auria or Audio Evolution. You had previously posted a disclaimer about file size.

    Thanks!

    From the App Store description:

    LIMITATIONS:

    • Editing very long audio files (> 20 minutes) may cause instability and limited Undo functionality, as all processing happens in memory (RAM).
    • Editing very large files can result in slowdowns.
  • This is a long-shot...

I've sometimes had the 'Apply Fades' function completely stop working (the button doesn't even react when tapped?!) after a while, especially with longer (if ~1 minute is considered long) sounds after doing some editing on it?!

Maybe I've just bumped into the 'memory limit' although 8GB's should be enough for a load of undo-steps?!

I have to quit and relaunch the app to regain the Apply Fades function, and nope creating a new project is not enough.

Oh well, it is what it is :sunglasses:
    (11" M1 iPadPro, iPadOS 17.4.1)

    Cheers!

Hey. This definitely shouldn't happen. So you're saying that only the 'Apply Fades' function stops working, none of the other 'Process' features or anything else in the app? When you tap the button, does it still go into its 'Button-Down' state, or does absolutely nothing happen? If you remember that is.

There was no visible 'button state' when tapped on Normalize or Apply Fades.
Didn't test the rest as I just saved what I had and relaunched the app to get 'back to work'.

I'll try to take a mental note next time it happens.

    Cheers!
