Just awesome, quick experiment RingsFX as FX input on rhythm and synth. Love this thing..

Very cool! Any tips on using it as an FX? Trying in Logic and Cubasis but it doesn’t seem to be affecting the audio. I have the exciter set to input. Cheers!

You need to send a MIDI note to FX.

This was the missing link however have you managed to do this in Logic? I can’t see anyway to get midi routed into an audio fx. Tried playing my midi controller keyboard with the effect selected but it did nothing. It’ll be user error, I have no doubt!

  • Sorry to hear about Paul's health issues. All the best! Love 4pockets apps. Those I can wrap my head around, anyway. 😉

  • Purchased, and praying for a quick recovery Paul! The sheer amount of excellent tools you’ve produced while struggling with your health issues is inspiring.

Hey Slush, I did indeed. I will most likely be doing something stupid. Can this be used on any track as an at (ie. a midi track or an audio track)? Have tried both.

Has anyone managed to use RingsFX as an auFX in Logic or Cubasis?

Ok so I just tried this in AUM (which I own but don’t use) and muddled my way to make it work. AUM allows you to route the keyboard (note information) into the aufx. Alas I can’t see how to make this happen in Logic etc.

I’m afraid this is not possible in Logic for iOS.

RingFX should be available as “AU MIDI-controlled Effects”, so you can inset this FX in the instrument slot with side chain input.

Someone close to Paul should contact him.

  • Sorry for my spam. Another experiment, RingsFX as FX through iSEM. What a killer app. BUY THIS AMAZING SYNTH!

Thanks for putting me out of my misery. Such a shame as I was loving the sounds I was getting out it in AUM. Hopefully that’s something Paul can look at when he’s feeling better. He had much more important work to do at the moment.

So much to play with in the meantime. The aufx is a bonus :)

RingsFX can be used on both audio and midi track, in Cubasis 3 the procedure is simple:

    AUDIO
1, Track 1 set as a midi track with no instrument loaded.
2, Track 2 set as an audio track with a wav file as the sound source. I opened INSERT EFFECTS for this track and selected Rings, select I then tapped the signal path icon (red arrow on photo) and selected track one as midi in, I opened piano roll and hit the Play button, audio sounds when any key is played.

Don’t forget to turn on INPUT in RingsFX👍

  • Paul has added Pitch, Detune, Volume and Output Mix to the CC controllable values in version 1.01.

To use any of these extended CC controllers, you must ensure MIDI CC Control in Settings is set to FULL, otherwise these will all be ignored.
The v1.01 update should be available over the weekend 🍻

Oh you’re a legend Rapidfire. I’ll try this tonight. Will then see if I can replicate it in Logic.

Thanks so much, really appreciate it.

Sadly couldn't find a way to replicate this in Logic.

I have never used Logic so unfortunately I am unable to help you in this respect, but if it’s Cubasis related then I will help if I can 👍

Bless your socks. I do use Cubasis as well so I appreciate it. Not even sure if I’ll continue my Logic sub when it comes due this year.

  • Just got RingsFX and can’t wait to dive in. Wishing for a swift recovery and coming back stronger than ever Paul.

This is the time to pay full price - don’t wait for a sale if you want this app!

  • Don’t forget to check for RingsFX version 1.0.1 update sometime this weekend, it contains more Midi CC Parameter control 👍

  • @rapidfire @4pockets_paul
Looking forward to the update. One request I'd like to see if an additional CC in the mod matrix. For my needs, I'd love to have CC2 be a modulation source in addition to CC74 and AT.

  • Has anyone got the sidechain input in Logic to work in the update. I can’t figure out where to enable it?

I don't think sidechain input works in rings, I certainly can't see it.

Yeah but the side chain option is not available with RingsFX. It is in many other plugins, so I'm guessing this is something that has to be added by the dev.

Basically in Logic there is no MIDI routing, but there is audio routing. So whereas in AUM you would route the MIDI to wherever you need it, in Logic what you have to do is add plugins to a MIDI channel and route the audio there using the side chain option, this works in many cases, but not here, because in RingsFX the side chain option is not available.

It was according to the release notes, but I'm up to date with the app and the side chain function doesn't appear to be there, at least I'm not seeing it in the usual place in Logic, when RingsFX is loaded as an instrument or an effect on a MIDI channel.
