Traktor DJ - now with Audiobus and IAA support
Version 1.6.0 just hit the store. I'm about to play with this one right here!
Comments
The AB slide-out panel has play and loop on/off controls for two decks. Nice touch.
Very cool
It's also 50% off right now
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/traktor-dj/id592052832?ls=1&mt=8
but I'm not seeing 1.6 in the US store yet.
I didn't expect that. Maybe iMaschine AB support will happen too one day.
syrupcore - funny thing is that I was actually looking for the Beatmaker 2 update and up pops Traktor DJ. It's in there somewhere.
firejan82 - even if they don't support AB, if they would just add Dropbox support, that would be huge for me. I don't want to open iTunes to import my projects into Maschine.
IMaschine update coming I hope,
just say: woooww!!
Finally.
Thats an amazing update from Native Instruments ! It really is about time they got on the bus. With Traktor and iMaschine both having a 50% price reduction, here's hoping an update of iMaschine will follow soon with Audiobus integration.
Wow...I was on the fence about this one for a long time *before it had AB. Insta-buy. Looking forward to getting some free time to sit down and play around with it. That will probably be some time in 2015 at this rate, though.
Wow! Totally awesome addition. This is the closest there is to Samplr on the iPhone in my opinion. Also NI effects are pretty awesome.
Awesome. I picked it up a year ago when it was on sale. Now I can actually use it!
The best DJ app for me and now with AB awesome!!
Traktor into Turnado is an awesome combination, ive been playing around with a few Cari Lekebusch tracks (looped sections) for the past few hours and really got absorbed into it. The possibilities for processing drum loops are mind boggling !!!!
Looks like Samplr??
Is not like Samplr, traktor is for djing
With the slicer add on it could be like sampler really. Maybe even a little more feature rich. However, right now there is a bug as far as I'm concerned that won't allow you to actually do beat matching. When you try to change the bpm by dragging the waveform, it snaps to some arbitrary value. You can't ever get precise beat matching as a result, so this is going on the shelf until that's fixed. Lots of potential here though.

I have both and use both. I am not a dj. Am I using it incorrectly? I said it was the closest thing in my opinion. I don't know any other apps on iPhone that let you manipulate loops and waveforms by playing sections of a waveform. You can Loop sections. There are tons of effects . There here is a mode called super slicer. No, it does not Sample, but if you have samples, loops, etc loaded up in your music library, it can do quite a lot of similar things.
I would like to use the smooth looping feature in Traktor to extract loops for other apps, e. g. for Korg Gadget. Unfortunately, I didn't found any workflow to do this without realtime recording via Audiobus or IAA. In other words: Is it possible to export a looped song section as single audio file, e. g. via Dropbox or (better) Pasteboard?
anyone have issues loading tracks on iPad Air into traktor?
I just get the sync icon flashing and no waveform or sound
strange thing is (like they know what each one is doing) djay2 is 50% off from yesterday, too: $9.99 -> $4.99
Was about time.
and how do they compare (except spotify and new traktor AB and IAP) ?
I was going to mention Djay2. It's had audiobus for a while.
I think it's fantastic. Really easy to use and ultra reliable to actually, you know, DJ with.
It has lots of looping capabilities, as well as being useful for getting a BPM and a key for any track. The Turnado-like effect packs you can buy for it (made by SugerBytes) are just amazing IMO...
I also use DJay as a way to help me quickly deconstruct and learn from someone else's track I like. Just load it in from Spotify and because it works out the BPM, and applies a 4 bar grid to the whole track, you can quite quickly use it to work out what's happening in the different sections of a track (i.e. loop 16 bars - listen to what's happening, loop next 16 bars - realise that there's an 8 bar bridge at that point... etc...)
In response to @klangsulfat I don't think you can get a clean single loop out of Djay 2 though - you'd have to record a few loops and then chop in Audioshare - which should be fairly straight forward.
As I say, the effects are pretty great and very easy just to apply rhythmically to a wav you're loaded in - so it's a useful tool I think - if you want that kind of DJ'd feel to a track you're making. I need to use it more.
Traktor I have on my phone (not iPad) - but haven't really used... Djay2 seemed a touch more feature rich and user friendly... or maybe it was because Trackor on iPad was quite expensive. I'd be interested to hear anyone's comparisons both as music production tools and for DJing.
Thanks... I would buy one, dont think i need two
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 I really like the idea of using djay2 to work out and learn from a song you like. The Spotify integration is pretty easy and intuitive.
Djay 2 has actual pitch faders, so it wins every single time for me over Traktor DJ. The spotify integration is great (although not compatible with Audiobus or IAA which is a real shame).

Wow, I'm surprised? To me, this provided the most accurate beatmatching out of all the dj apps although i havent had a chance to test it out after update. Hope it gets fixed soon
As for this vs other djay apps, I personally think it's the best for my needs. I think old school djs may prefer djay app cuz it reminds them more of an actual turntable but if ur just looking for automatic bpm matching and actual music making/remixing, I've always liked traktor the best.
Plus their computer software program is great too.
Just my two cents

Traktor Scratch is untouchable...on a laptop (and with actual turntables as your control surface).
Djay 2 will be more accurate than Traktor for beatmatching because Djay 2 can beatmatch without any reliance of "sync" technology. It's half-true that Djay 2 is more preferable to me because it's more like a regular turntable, because of the pitch fader. Other than that, I actually prefer a waveform view on a touchscreen (which Djay 2 also has...still with a pitch fader). I definitely don't like Djay 2's UI when it looks like a turntable (I'd rather just use a turntable).
I've never thought of using Traktor on the iPad for production use, but I can see its potential (better effects than Samplr, for instance).
