Hello all. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Anyhow, I just wanted to comment on how amazed I am at people's preference for Djay 2's beatgridding system compared to Traktor DJ's. Personally, I've found Traktor's gridding system significantly better than the one in Djay 2. It's actually one of the main reasons I never touch that app, other than occasionally messing around with the Sugar Bytes FX. I don't think I've ever managed to get a track properly gridded in Djay, whereas I can set up a grid for most tracks in a few seconds using Traktor DJ. Traktor's freeze/loop slicer is far superior as well, imo.

Regardless of app, I'm not a big fan of DJing with just the touchscreen. But with my Kontrol S4 connected to my iPad, I love me some Traktor DJ. The addition of hardware also means you can beatmatch manually, without being forced to use sync. I wouldn't imagine that riding virtual pitch faders on the iPad screen would be much fun, anyway.

    Yeah +1

It's a good way to get into it though and if you want to take it further just add a Z1 and then use the evoucher on Traktor. Shame there's no midi control of Traktor Dj though; unless it's hidden?!

Ah, so you can set loop markers then? I guess I never tried. Do you just hit one of the hotcue buttons while an active loop is running?

  • Yeah just select the slot with loop enabled and it should turn green. :)
