@peanutcram not sure how i'd use that but downloaded the free version to play with.

@monzo iPad Air hence the post. It's probably the way i'm using it, i thought the Air had some processing power but i'm only using 3 or 4 tracks with a couple of synths and fx, gotta get into the habit of track freezing i guess.

@syrupcore yeah true not what the thread was about, has drifted a bit there! Can the Auria effects be used as inserts in AB?

  • @musikmachine here's a vid on SpringSound:

  • @peanutcram inspired me to buy Loopy HD. Don't know why i left it so long but it fits hand and glove with Impaktor for building up layers, thinking about all the ways i can loop from various apps is pretty mindblowing! This is gonna be fun. :)

Same here, I got it after someone had said at KVR that it's one of the must apps...
I didn't believe it looking at those donuts...
But he was right, it is one of the best;-)

  • Yeah same here but it's exactly what i needed to bring all the different parts from tracks together to try out ideas, better than copy pasting everything that's for sure!

The iPad is fast becoming my inspiration station. :D

  • Not an app, but a dude - Gaz Williams!!
After watching this guy playing or even talking about it I just want to make music.
    I love enthusiasts!

Haha, this is so true about LoopyHD. It's clearly simple and easy to use, but unexpectedly full of features and options. Definitely my top app. Speaking as a musician who did not have the time to dive into learning a DAW, Loopy provided a simple interface to build song ideas. Not to mention, it gave me the chance to pretend I'm Phil Keaggy.

Hah, sonicstate should create a Gaz Williams app! :D

Tried out Auxy earlier after someone recommended, totally overlooked it but definitely fits the bill. Like a very early version of Live. :)

Gaz and Nick turned me on to alot of great stuff for sure! I really hope their Sonic Touch show becomes more regular once again. I know there have not been many wow apps released lately but hopefully that changes during the holiday blitz!/////. It is hard not to smile while watching Gaz get so lit up for ios!

  • I have a total boy crush on Gaz. His enthusiasm is inspiring and infectious.

  • Snicker! Snicker.

  • Those sonic state fellas were definitely instrumental in my iPad acquisition. :)

Can safely add Egoist to the list i think, superb app. Makes me wonder if SB had the iPad in mind when they designed it.

  • Actually at this point Different Drummer:-)

That app is simply fantastic, first of all, because it makes you play by "ear"...but RTFM...;-)

I've got to add Egoist to my favourite creative apps list, it's brilliant for sparking new ideas.

@musikmachine Well the knock the Sugar Bytes boys and girls have had is 'great products not well adapted for the iPad screen' (yep, thesys et. al.).

With Egoist they have set a standard which I hope will make them think; "Hmmm, redesigning GUIs of what we have already might be like bringing three or four new front rank products to the market...."

  • @JohnnyGoodyear That may be true but I think there's even better news hidden in Egoist: the desktop version is actually the same scale/size as the iPad screen (1024x768 ignoring retina doubling). To me that means "Hmmm, let's start with the iPad in mind from now on".

And yeah, +1 to adding egoist to the list. It also exports perfect loops.

  • Definitely add Egoist to my list as well. Intuitive & straight forward!

    It's on my list. ;)

@JohnnyGoodyear Egoist is definitely much easier to work with. Thesys i don't mind cause i can set up the sequence before i connect it to a synth but i'm not sure i'd want to use it Live!

@syrupcore, i think they did start with the iPad in mind; ios is even in the name. :)

Black Friday soon, looking forward! Got a deskmount today and a iconnectmidi 2+ on the way so i can start doing a bit more with the iPad. I still prefer making tracks with my desktop but the combination of innovation and tactile interfacing definitely makes it worth the extra steps involved to integrate with a DAW.

    Cheers!

Gaz has sold me on more than a few apps...but by his own admission, he's usually not using them in the same ways most of us do (I.e. He usually demonstrates them independently without interconnected workflow, and doesn't go much deeper than the presets). Not to say that he doesn't give a good overview of an app, but personally I realize that I don't get a good impression of things unless programming from scratch or seeing something worked from the ground up.

  • @Accent: when it comes to instructive, educational enthusiasts Doug is legendary. He sold me most of my apps. Also Jakob Haq makes me want to touch my surface even more :)
All these guys show they love what they do and do what they love. That's inspirinig to me.

    +1 to @Peanutcram

Makes it twice as fun and twice the community having people like these doing their thing... And this forum.

Especially since computer-based music production can end up being a quite a solitary thing otherwise.

most of the app which inspire me has been already mentioned several times.
i do love samplr & sector some, which i think haven´t been mentioned (some of them are sadly not on the bus) are:

    • borderlands granular
    • drone fx
    • gestrument
    • nodebeat hd
    • aeolian harp

but, the biggest inspiration, are sitting just to the right and left of my head. listen carefully what surrounds you in everyday situation. along with a simple (field)recorder.... can´t beat it!
