He didn't mention that the iPad Mini 3 (they did really name it like this, did they?) has the A8X processor,i know what that means...iPad Air 2 (another dumb name) for me.Unfortunately.Ah yeah, and the"lock rotation"button is history.Great.Not.

But a 100 bucks cheaper is not that bad.

  • It doesn't look like the price changed at all--they've just kept the same pricing from the previous models. I'm not certain, but I believe Apple has done that before...

  • Did I mention I can't even put 2 full length HD movies from iTunes onto a 16GB iDevice?

wait, maybe I can if I delete all my music and apps.

Not that I care about the movies, but 16GB entry level storage is silly.

  • I'm guessing Air 2 and Mini 3 are Apple pushing things too fast and too hard, just like with iOS 8. Hence the lackluster presentation. Regular users won't notice it, watching their family photos, browsing facebook and reading that recipe book. Productivity usage on the other hand will definitely suffer from lackluster battery life, unless Apple pulled some reeeaally fluffy bunnies outta the hat.

Apple are so effin annoying with the RAM thing...Pre-order something Apple refuse to give out specs on? Naw, did that once, not willing to risk that again.m:/

@Audiojunkie, stop it! ;-) and just put a link. we all know how to open another browser window.

edit: sorry, that sounded rude. :-/ Thanks for the news, maybe just add snippets of the relevant bits.

i paid 679€ back in the days for an iPad4 with 64Gb,now,i can get 128GB for that price.

  • Skipping 32gb version is an interesting move. Is it because 32s didn't sell well or they're trying to force people to spend more?

    • 16GB 499

    • 64GB 599

    • 128GB 699

The 32gb model was never mentioned (or present on the slide) on the event, it's 100 bucks less for 64 & 128. 64gb replaces the 32Gb in the price structure. Really simple :)

What is a bit strange tho is that they could have gone with 32GB as Intro model, but chose to earn a few pennies more per sold iPad. Like they really, really need that cash and all..

  • I know it's not iOS but a new Mac Mini is an awful lot of computer for $499.

  • 100% capitalism. I've watched this back to back now I'm worried about my sanity.

Waiting for apple site to update, but was the air 2 missing the mute switch? Something looked different up there.

Shorter battery life (for us), 40% faster CPU. IF this thing turns out to have 2GB of RAM I just might still get it tho.

    yup. :(

    image.

  • Wtf? Why remove that?

  • "Another punch in the face of Adobe: Hi, Pixelmator."

the funny thing is that broadcast had the adobe tracker running, lol

  • No rotation lock switch? How the feck are we supposed to use the broken autorotate in iOS8 if we don't like to flail our iPads around to rotate the screen? Meh :(

'dual microphones'. Stereo recording is a nice little bonus/bump.

are we sure it's stereo recording?

No, not sure. Can't imagine why they'd have two otherwise though.

I guess they think the swipe from bottom panel will suffice? Volume and screen lock are there, but no mute...

  • I don't think the mute switch was too important. The volume rockers did mute just fine. If you press and hold, it jumps to mute. If you push the volume rockers one at a time, it moves incrementally. The functionality is all still there. I almost never use the actual mute switch....but hey, this is just one guy's opinion... :-)

That is funny. What is the Adobe tracker?

  • Marketing subtext: People like cameras more than they want to write concertos.

Think the people who will miss it (me) used it for orientation lock vs mute. It's not a big deal (there is none on the iphone) but I'll miss it for a while anyway.

  • Mini 3 has it but Air 2 doesn't?? Ok I am officially confused. Makes no sense.

Was thinking the same about using the phrase 'dual microphones' instead of 'stereo recording'. Sounds better to my mom.

  • I almost always keep my rotation locked to a particular position, so that part isn't too bad either. If I need to turn on rotate, I can just swipe from the bottom panel. I guess the need of the switch really depends on who one uses his/her device...

Why do people even watch these things?

I watched something like this for the first time. It is quite embarrassing. But I learned something about hipster psychology at least.

Mini 3 = A7 chip, Air 2 = A8X. Prolly the reason they didn't talk about the mini. Also some other things like slower wifi etc.

  • Mini 3 uses A7 chip...
