I bought TB Equalizer 2 months ago (10€ approx) and new TB Equalizer Pro costs next 10€ in the bundle (14€ separately). I'm from EU country.
App doesn't seem to have any presets at all except one preset and the default preset. Anyone got any different behaviour?
You have to "Load" the preset in. Tapping on the "Current program" just shows favorites (I think)... But yes, you need to load them in with the "Load" button.
Ah, weird, thnx!
I actually like the preset management in TB EQ Pro, 16 'program-slots' for super quick access.
Hopefully this will migrate to the other apps as well...
@DJB Is there even a remote possibly that the EQ Assist from TB EQ could find its way into TB EQ Pro?
(Ie. I could use the 'EQ Assist' to analyze the source audio and then use the 'match' functionality in TB Pro EQ to correct/neutralize it?).
Cheers!
I've been doing exactly this with the original TB EQ since a while.
That’s weird, it only cost me £4 to upgrade with the bundle. Could it be that you got the original EQ in a sale? That can screw with bundle prices from what I gather.
Is there something like the "frequency collision detection" which is in Fabfilter Pro EQ 3?
I don’t want to be negative, but that bundle doesn’t make much sense. Why do you need the 2 EQs when one is superior to the other?
That’s not the point of this bundle, it’s to provide an upgrade discount.
FF did that too when Pro-Q 3 was released, those who bought Pro-Q 2 prior to that also got a bundle to save some.
They were even nice enough to recommend NOT completing the EQ bundle if the intention was to buy the 'BIG' bundle as the savings became a bit more 'sensible' if Pro-Q 3 was bought as 'stand-alone' outside of any bundle
I think TB will just keep the old one to not break older projects using the older version?
Sooner or later the old version will likely be removed from sale especially when it gets on par with all features (like EQ Assist) which is present in the older version but missing in the new one.
And well, there's always users who want to save a buck or two...
...I skipped completing the bundle (would have saved 15SEK) and got it at regular price instead
I bought it for the equivalent of 10€ and according to AggAgg it was discounted by 1€. You mention £4 .. I suspect that's the point. The AppStore for the EU has a different pricing policy than for the US or UK market for example.
EDIT: You are probably right - full price was around 14€.
Right on. I already own Pro-Q 3, do you think the new TB eq will add anything?
Thanks everyone for your comments etc! Let me try to answer some of the questions:
On the bundle: TB Equalizer is currently US9.99; Equalizer Pro is US12.99, and the bundle is currently US17.99. In other words, people can get the Pro version by completing the bundle for US 8,= instead of US 12.99 which is a substantial discount of a whopping 39%. If, however, you've purchased TB Equalizer a while back for a lower price, the discount will be less as it seems the App Store uses the actual price paid in the past vs the current price to compute the price for 'completing the bundle'.
On the EQ AI suggestions tool: we've removed this hoping that the EQ match functionality is a better, and more interactive replacement. We've received a lot of requests for the AI function to make it editable, and this is what the EQ match function provides - you can load a desired spectrum, analyse your current spectrum, compute the difference and get a bunch of EQ section that will model that difference. You can then go in and modify the curve to your liking - fully interactive as opposed to just providing EQ suggestions.
Presets: the EQ comes with over 40 presets in the preset manager - same as we've done for all other TB plugins. Simply click on the 'Load' button to bring up the preset browser, and load one of the presets in the program slot that you've selected so you can have up to 16 programs loaded simultaneously for quick access (and you can even control those with MIDI program messages if supported by the host).
We won't remove TB Equalizer any time soon because we realise many customers will have projects that rely on it. The Pro version has many new features based on the many feature requests we've received over the last couple of years (thank you!) that were difficult to realise as updates to TB Equalizer without breaking backward compatibility - hence a new plugin seemed the right approach to unlock the new and extended features.
Remains to be seen really...
I prefer some UI aspects of the TB EQ Pro (Like bigger fonts) over FF Pro Q-3 and the 16 'program locations' for quick access to settings, color-themes are a nice touch.
If I'm totally honest all FF apps on the iPad suffer badly from extreme 'Microscopic Font Syndrome' and with my degrading eye-sight they see less and less usage over time...
Ok, should I pay 120 SEK (about 10 USD) for the Pro version when I have the non-pro version? I'm not being negative, just need to be convinced...

Thanks Samu, one of the reasons I skipped the FF synth.
On the topic of EQ. There's a TON of nice filter-types to focus on transients, background ambience, sustained portions...
Plenty of room for experimentation, this will take a LONG time to master
(The desktop demo is out so it's possible to take it for a spin for 'free').
Hmmm, I paid full price for the original EQ but the bundle discount is only 99p.
I get the explanations for price differences then and now and reasonable full pricing, but still, it’s a bit stingy.
Just to be clear - I wan’t complaining about the price. Just wanted to point out that not everyone will see substantial savings in the bundle price and so I thought the phrase in the original description could possibly be misleading to some. I understand the Apple pricing policy and I know that the bundle price can get knocked around a bit. I will be purchasing this app. It looks like a really nice addition to the tool box.
I understand it varies from mix to mix, but I’m curious what settings usually get the job done for you get to a master that sounds like LP4I mastering? My LP4I masters sound much different than my GF2’s or my Toneboosters masters. (I’d like them all to sound like LP4I!)
Oh, I start with EDM Punch and adjust from there. I like the LP4i sound too, but really dig the GF2 EDM Punch sound as well. Guess it depends on what I'm mastering to be fair.
Quick mention that my 30-minute spoken walkthrough on TB EQ Pro, demoing and explaining a lot of the features is up now on my YouTube, folks, you know where to find it if interested, cheers. This is definitely a decent upgrade with all the new filters types, pretty deep app. The vid will also be useful to understand other ToneBoosters apps, for those who have not yet read a TB manual in detail, as many o the features repeat across their plugin line.
Whats the keyboard for.
If I recall theres keys in the other tb eq.
So I guess not midi eq?
Where you might play and edit eq keys, in a daw editor lol.
Usually the keyboard is used to set a nodes frequency to the selected note.
@DJB … I’m not seeing comb filter as an option. Is this something that could be added?
Also, in the “Current program” menu, I’m finding the change from the original template loader (with both forward and backward arrows) and the new favorites loader (with ONLY a forward button) to be a curious change. It really bugs me that I can’t quickly go back and forth in the list now. Think you could bring back the reverse arrow? Just my 2¢ worth.
Thanks.
So its a defined key, in eq frequency ?
Yes, or simply to check what note the current frequency is close to...
Cool.
Thanks Samu
