Streets like these, so close to the sea, are exotic to my eyes. 🥹
You pleasantly surprised me! 🤩 Then again, this one perfectly fits into your fractal opus.
One XP4N, one motive, many days.
Great series, I love the ever-changing lighting.
Amazing building/location as well, που είναι ?
Really really love this one!
Thank you, guys. 🫶 It’s Rijeka, Croatia. This building is a mill silo.
I’m right there with you. Fog is my favorite kind of weather.
There is a recent thread with a video that’s an interview with a creative thinker. The poster got jumped on for posting subject matter that didn’t have anything to do with music stuff. I skimmed the long video and didn’t see/hear anything offensive. I found (what I viewed) to be interesting and at least creatively relevant.
Curious… this thread has not had anything to do with music since it’s beginning, yet no one complains about it not being about music.
I obviously don’t an an issue with this epoch, non-music thread since I’ve contributed plenty to it plenty since it’s beginning.
Why are some non-music threads acceptable and others are evidently forbidden?
Serious question.
Nobody got jumped on IMO. One person complained (I think). That complaint was based on the forum guideline that was put in place back when things had gotten out of hand with nasty politics and other things. Some people would prefer it to be a strict rule, others would like it more relaxed.
I unwisely made a comment about how off-topic threads make moderating somewhat difficult for that very reason ... how to walk the line between the two opinions, and how to avoid the trap of the question you just asked without allowing everything or nothing.
That was probably taken as a complaint by me against the original poster of that thread. It wasn't. It was simply my voicing that personally I hope we don't get a slew of off topic threads because of this conundrum.
Michael, as usual, added the perfect gracefully moderate context, and was nice to hear because, enforcing "rules" sucks unless it really needs to be done.
I'm sure it's difficult to parse what fits within the stated rules and such... but it's confusing to see some threads that I can see could become incendiary, and no one complains... then there is a harmless thread that's fun and interesting and someone complains about it.
This thread even had someone complaining back toward the beginning because I dared to ask someone which iPhone they were using with this app, etc.
Political stuff? Yeah, don't want to see it. Everything else... as long as it has something to do with the "creative life" in general, I think should be allowed IMHO.
Yeh, that was a bit of a head scratcher.
This thread almost went up in flames after the rude remark towards American tourists. The iPhone debate was a mild derailment in comparison. Also, I almost stopped posting here after the famous Ko-Tenzaku pamphlet. Nothing is safe in this forum. It only takes one rude poster and a few passionate gatekeepers to effectively ruin and close any thread. I can only be grateful for the beautiful work and kindness of the people posting here, as well as for @wim's efforts to keep this place safe.
Because there is music in everything!

Wow! Those are great @Luxthor.
@Luxthor you gave a super keen eye for finding creative shots. Brilliant shots for a several pages.
I'm not even sure the questions about which iPhone was used on various images was a derailment. It was about which iPhone cameras seem to be yielding the best results from Bram's app. XP4N had rejuvenated my interest in iPhone photography and I was due for a new iPhone. I didn't get one because I can't really tell a huge difference in what I can get with my iPhone 11pro and the newer iPhones. Sure, they're better... but I think I'd rather wait until mine is showing some signs it isn't keeping up or battery failure. So far, it still working fine.
I couldn't tell a difference at all in the quality images coming from Luxthor's 15pro images and the 16pro images.
I remember the Americans comment. Thought the thread was toast with that exchange. lol Must have missed the Ko-Tenzaku pamphlet comments.
@wim 's communication style is clear and direct. No fluff. I used to misinterpret it's tone, but now I actually prefer it for pure communication efficiency. He does a good job
Also, I have to remind myself that everyone is living in their own timeline reality. Some may be having a rough time and it can come off in their posts as having "attitude". I know I'm often guilty of that... until I catch myself and try to course correct.
Anyhow... as stated before, I like threads like these that aren't necessarily about apps and music per se. They serve as a great palette cleanser from all the darkness in the world these days. They help to refocus the mind on life, art, and "being".
ps... @Luxthor you're in Croatia right? Where abouts? Your images make me want to explore there myself. If I was ever to travel there, which 3-4 locations are must-see for the first time visitor interested in visuals and culture? (including at least one city)
@skiphunt this thread always sparks my musical creativity so I’ve been super happy with it. I caught up on the thread over the last week or so and am going to my regular coffee shop to write some music directly influenced from seeing pics in here.
I think my lesson is: creativity comes from lots of sources. I enjoy reading lots of different things gere that help me. After all, most of us are always looking for a spark. These off the music path actual put us back on it imo. I thought you broached this topic well in this thread. Good job!
Please don’t shut this thread down. It’s my favorite on the site.
Agreed! When I go out to try to come up with creative ideas I visit art museums/galleries, people watch at the coffee shop, listen to diverse music, flip through art magazines on the newsstands, and scroll other artist’s work in online threads like this one
Wow @sugus - that's stellar. 👍🏼
Hey, anyone wanting to keep up with this thread needs to favorite it by clicking the star ☆ next to the thread title. The "Other" category has been set so that it doesn't appear on the default "Recent Discussions" page when new posts happen.
That was done by Michael as an attempt to reduce the polarization that moderation vs. free rein has caused. It's till possible to be notified of new posts on topics you're interested in but you have to follow them manually now.
Thank you, @drez, your presence and positive attitude mean a lot. 🫶
Wise words! 😌
Oh my, I love every place. It depends on what activity you prefer, maybe for the first visit, stick to the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea coast. For a memorable photo session, good food, sea activity, and lots of interesting events, go to Rovinj. From there visit small rustic places in the Istrian peninsula, like Groznjan, where only artists and musicians live. If you like islands, take a small ship charter cruise and visit the Kornati archipelago. Or just book a small, cozy apartment on islands like Losinj, Cres, Rab, Hvar, Brac, etc. We have hundreds of islands. Then you have Dalmatia with larger cities like Split, Zadar, and Sibenik. Or go straight to Dubrovnik. I left half of my heart there. 😅 Just go to Google Streets and find the place you like.
@Michael, @wim, Now, if there will be no strict moderation in ‘other’ categories, can we please save this thread and move it to the ‘creations’?
Im not sure what that is meant to accomplish? Can you elaborate?
I take ‘creations’ to mean ‘musical creations’ since this is a music forum, but maybe I’m not seeing that right.
First of all, this thread is all about creation. Another thing: if you are planning to lower restrictions in these categories, it will not be appropriate to start talking about politics or unfortunate debates about tourists nationalities and stereotypes, which almost happened. I’m just afraid about the future of this thread. 😅
Thanks for the clarification. I think we can cross that bridge when we come to it. Let’s hope we don’t.
Cool. I'm going to cut/paste this for future reference. Croatia is on my list for sure. I'm just not sure if I can do it on a budget.
If you think of anything else you want to add, feel free to DM me. Thanks!
btw, XP4N is amazing for photographing UFOs!
I'd love to post mine but had a visit from a couple of guys from the government last night who made it very clear what would happen to me if I did.
