Really enjoying this one.. as we move away from ‘static’ instruments… really nice..
Getting constant crash at splash screen, iOS 18.2 iPhone 12 Pro max
@relpot hey
Probability for some variation so sometimes a step will play and other times it skips. Also maybe loop count or something where every 4 cycles there is a crash, or every 8 there is a tom fill or something ?
Does that help
+1 to what @robosardine said with mutation (and maybe glitching?) - that would be even better than my probability request
Hi I have been working with the DM10 Beta, trying to make a custom kit .
It is not very intuitive: you open the drum kit window and select create custom kit but you cannot select any other sounds from this window only select and cut the current samples. I think you can import your own samples here but I want to use the ones that come with the DM10.
I selected User Kits, then create new kit but you cannot select any drum sounds in this window! Only the sounds from a previously selected kit are here and you can not switch the sounds
(it would make sense to be able to select and switch any of the drum sounds from this window)
If you want to change a “kick” drum sound you have to go the mixer page, press the top where it says “kick” then select the drum set you want the kick from. You cannot hear or audition the sounds. (You will hear no kick at all)
You must then go up and select the kit name then press “modify” then press save. After that you can audition the sound and hear it when you play a pattern
You also cannot change/hear/audition sounds when a pattern is playing. This makes hard to make decisions on sound because you cannot hear them in relation to the other sounds.
(It would be great to be able to audition sounds as the pattern is playing so that you could hear them in proper context)
So far I have not been able to change kit “layout” the kit only has 1 Tom. I would like 3 Tom’s , I cannot figure out how to add them or replace a clap or rim with a Tom sound if any one out there knows please let me know.
I love the sequencer! I love the sounds! I love the mixer and I love the velocity editing. I do not need bass or lead I do not need randomization I know some people like it but I just like a simple drum machine
me too Thor was awesome
One of my first 5 music app buys I think.
For @ralis said:
Thanks @ralis for your feedback, yes I agree with you about the user drumkit. I will add the possibility to pick the sounds from DM10 in the user drumkit popup, it will be in the next update coming soon. You will be also able to change the kit layout (to have 3 tom for example).
About having a preview of the user drum kit playing in the pattern, I also agree it would be handy to have it, I will add it for the next update.
Sorry for this crash, are you sure you are not using iOS 18.3 beta update ? On my logs I see your crash but it with iOS 18.3 beta...
oh darn.. forgot i signed up for beta versions.. sorry
Whoo hoo! Thanks for updating DM10!
I was able to audition and select sound from the other kits in the custom kits page!
I am now also able to add additional Tom’s for a more traditional set up = Kick, Snare, Closed and Open Hi Hat, tom 1, tom 2, tom 3, crash, ride. You just have to change the name on the mixer page.
One more request, is it possible to have the mixer page “Save” with each Kit? mainly because I set the Pitch on the mixer page but then if I switch kits it affects the new kit so I have to change it, then change it back when I return to the previous kit.
I truly love the ease of using this app and I use it to help me write and jam
Ok cool, indeed you can now select sound from other kit in the custom kits page, and also have several track with the same track type (multiple toms for example). In the next update, I also plan to add this feature in the mixer track custom kit popup.
About your request, to save the mixer page with each kit, I don't think I will do it as it would change too many things in the way the app works, as mixer state is saved within the song, not within the kits.. But I will keep that in mind for future update if I found an elegant way to do it...
My page is completely blank for making a user kit so not sure what’s going on there.
It's normal, the user kit creation is only available in the standalone app, not in the AUv3 version.
But it will be better to have a message about it in this popup, I will add that in the next update.
If this app had multi layer support………….
What do you mean by multi layer ? you mean AUv3 multiple output ?
No, multiple samples per slot. For round robins etc.
Ok I see.. thanks for the suggestion, I will think about it for future updates..
That would be huge. And would probably be extremely complex to implement.
Btw thanks for your feedback. It‘s fantastic to see this app making a comeback and you‘re doing a great job here.
Ah ok thanks.
Can I just ask - is the randomise, probability/chance & mutation request etc active, on the back burner, in the bin or something else? I think it needs at least some of these to give it an edge.
About probability and mutation, yes, I kept that in mind. I will work on it as soon as the application is released (in February), so it will be available in a few months, March or April probably.
Excellent - just downloaded the TestFlight version. Looks really nice and works great so far. One thing that I noticed, however is that the AUv3 version does not appear to include MIDI in/out (tested in AUM), but the standalone version does and it works well and can send and receive MIDI with AUM.
Also - just a related note on apps like DrumLab - it looks like there are a lot of variations on this same general app design in the app store. I have DrumLab and had it for years and I love it, but it's very old. There's a DM1, and there's a DM2 out there, and the menus and screens are very similar, so be careful you know what you're getting before you buy (I had a regret).
Ok thanks for your feedback, about MIDI in/out missing in AUv3, I will take a look at it.
And randomisation too hopefully.
Just a thought - if it were me and it wasn’t going to make a great deal of difference either way I would add these things before release - that way it would have a better chance of receiving thunderous applause and great acclaim and generally a better buzz when it comes out, otherwise it could be seen as a bit too similar to the old version. Thinking here about the drums only (I’m still not a big fan of the instruments and will probably never use them). I’m imagining the initial reviews - AppStore and otherwise riddled with ‘ DM1 now has probability and randomisation!’ squeals of delight would make it sound very attractive indeed.
I wonder what others thoughts are?
Yes I understand what you mean, but from our side, we really need DM10 to launch in february..
But I promise an update with randomize and probavility/mutation will come soon in march or april!!
Don’t forget MiDi import… Seems so many great drum machines are afraid to implement this..
Thanks.. such a great app..
H,i I was just working on a song in DM10 and maybe this is possible but I could not figure it out.
Can I have patterns of different tempos in the song?
Ah ok. Maybe you could add it as a ‘coming soon’ in the AppStore description. I don’t know if you are allowed to do this or not 🤔 or even if you would want too 😀 Anyway looking forward to it. I’ve got the feeling that it will become many people’s go to when these features are added… especially with the random options it has already has…. can’t wait, this will be seriously good I think. Good luck with the launch!
Yes totally, it's in my todolist for future update!
No, for now you can't have different tempos per pattern, but I will think about it for future update.
