FM Zone by Toybox Audio (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fm-zone/id6505016855

FM Zone is an easy to use polyphonic synthesiser plugin with sophisticated FM and sample engines and a bank of flexible multi-segment envelopes to shape the sound in any direction you desire. Perfect for huge FM basses and cutting leads

The synthesiser features two powerful engines that can be layered together for a variety of complex sounds and textures. The ‘Synth’ engine features a powerful FM engine with a variety of 'special' operator types (FM, supersaw, additive, physical modelling etc) for expressive, harmonically rich timbres. The ‘Sample’ engine can be used to mix additional textures or attacks samples over the sound

  • This is excellent as usual. I'll have a detailed walkthrough vid up later today hopefully! FM Zone can go deep or can be super simple, depending on user preference and skill level.

  • Definitely a buy when I have money again. Probably not the best release time for apps between sales and Christmas…possibly?

  • Here is my video for FM Zone, which perfectly compliments Thump One and Buzz Zone.

  • Has anyone else who got this found that the keyboard shortcuts are not working on iPad? With Buzz One etc, they worked if you had a keyboard connected, even in the AUv3. In the current versions of these apps, with a keyboard connected, I can’t get that working in either standalone or AUv3.

  • Yeah this is awesome! I admittedly clicked on that “GET” butting without hesitation.

Buzz Zone has already been my personal favorite new synth of 2024 by far, with its MASSIVE sound design potential; being able to draw the envelope on pretty much every element of the sound, and being able to SEE it!

This winning UI by Toybox Audio can bring the hidden sound designer out of even the most apathetic preset surfer.

Also, while Buzz Zone does offer some FM features like FM depth, pitch, and feedback, there may be some overlap in sounds, but FM Zone is going a lot deeper into FM synthesis, with it’s operator editing paired with the already winning formula mentioned above.

Now will it stand up against some of the established FM synths we already have like KQ Dixie, NFM, or Nambu? Or the enormously flexible FM operators in Drambo? I’ve only had this for a few minutes, so that remains to be seen (or heard), but I am confident of one thing; it’s going to be a helluvalotta FUN!

  • Wish this was on iPhone 😞

  • I like it.
But I would like to have the ability to select midi channel and favorite presets via midi. That would make this Synth more suitable for live use.

You should consider getting Thump One also. I just bought the desktop version of Buzz Zone yesterday (on sale) and it's already one of my favorite synths now.

Why is the chat disabled on the video replay? Is that something you can enable?

Hmm, strange. I changed no settings and I can see it in my Android app but not the iPad app. Anyone else? Any suggestions? Never ran into that problem

Actually, no, not working on Android either, and it is off in settings for some reason, and can’t be toggled back on it seems

  • Searching for Buzz Zone in the forum search field but no results…..happened the other day with SQSL….any word on when this will be fixed?

So, I managed to find out the issue. I had to edit the vid after it first aired to cut out a few seconds of content I noticed I had mistakenly left in. Apparently editing after the vid goes live stops the live chat being viewable and there is sadly nothing I can do about it.

Well, now we know I guess.

  • this companies apps are fun, even the original GUI was fun to play with- it's wild enjoying every single sound your triggering.

The new GUI makes it even more intuitive which is wild. Such great offerings from this fella.
