No, you confused me a bit with that but I get it now - seems someone confirmed the app also works in Live, but not other desktop DAW’s, so….sort of compatible.
I’ll wait and see if this is an error they correct, if not, as I’m using Live as my main DAW I’ll probably pick it up. Wouldn’t bother otherwise as I already have a ton of iOS synths already 🏆
I think our posts just crossed, yes that was some kind of glitch with the App Store release (see my previous post)
Huge respect man, not just for FM Zone but also for other two your synths. Absolute top league on iOS - quality of sound, UX, everything top notch. Love it.
Do samples need loop points setting in their own file in order to loop cleanly? I haven’t quite figured out the that part properly yet, I think it’s just me not getting the re triggering envelopes but I’m not sure…
The looping envelopes can be used to re-trigger the samples, you can also modulate the sample start time using mod wheel etc.
There is no way to edit the loop points within the app. 'wav' files with embedded loop points are supported, you can embed loop points by using something like 'Endless WAV' on desktop (I'm not sure which iOS apps supported wav file loop creation)
Thanks!

I guess that samples don’t automatically loop at the end though from the behaviour I see when loading my own into it?
Confirms what I’ve been saying here.
You know what? I just recently got a new iPad Mini 7, and I think it's time to snag your three synths (or at least what's released so far that is) as a Christmas gift to myself. They look slick, and the Youtube vids I've seen of them in action make me think they'll fit perfectly in my workflow.
All the best.
I think you’re going to like them. They’re deceptively simple, but the variety of and potential for interesting sounds is wild.
Even though I just created a more of an orchestral electronic piece for the holidays, I'm looking for exploring more and wild sounds lately. Jean-Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream were my springboards into more electronic, experimental, and orchestral material, but I'm definitely looking to get a bit more experimental. A bit more "electro-acoustic" if you will.
Now it's time to purchase!
@Freeco Just snapped up Thump One, Buzz Zone, and FM Zone. Can't wait to have a go with these synths.
Maybe I'll make a track only with these.
I’ve grown very fond of Thump One, dude’s design just clicks for me and I find myself sound mangling which is extremely inspiring for my creative process.
I look forward to getting FM as soon as it goes on sale. ( dry begging )
Well, FM is still on intro sale...
This is a powerful synth, but gosh it’s is a real CPU hog! On my admittedly 7 year old iPad Pro it’s just about maxing out the AM CPU meter on certain patches with 2/3 notes playing, others seem a lot less demanding
Not even Moog Model 15 gets close.
I can understand this level of CPU demand with e.g. FRMS when using patches with multiple granular oscillators at once etc. Buzz Zone was similar for me on desktop - 2 or 3 notes maxed out Ableton Live. But I’ve never seen this kind of CPU hit with FM synthesis before.
Is there some sauce of component-level modelling or whatever going on?
I think this will be a “hold one note down for ages” type of synth anyways so might be OK.
This vs Bleass Omega, any thoughts?
I prefer this UI, but I’d like to see a lot more presets, especially in the traditional instrument categories. Strange sounds are cool, but when you need horns, strings, etc., they need a lot more.
I find Omega has an easier to use interface in some ways and far kinder on resources - I'm using an M1 Air and FM Zone gets a little 'spiky' on the processor meter at times!
Hopefully the dev can improve its performance with a little finessing.
Most likely. I’ve had other apps that were resource hogs when they came out but were improved, so fingers crossed.
@NeuM @Fruitbat1919 Thanks. Kind of lean towards Bleass, on sale as well.
I was disappointed with Omega when I first got it as it just sounded sort of thin to me. After using for a while I came to like its ease of making sounds. I think it’s the fx that don’t do it for me, but love the layout, wave shaper and filter with easy to program FM. I just switch off the fx for the most part and add better chorus and reverb. And just to add, I love the Bleass modulation sequencer thing!
Hi @Freeco … am having a lot of fun with FM zone! Am getting some really unique sounds out of it.
Seems very well thought out e.g. undo/redo, and the wide range of supplied sounds and envelopes, and the ability to save and reuse them. I wish more synths offered this functionality.
A couple of things to ask:
the manual doesn’t cover the Sound Editor … it would be really useful to have some explanation of this as well as some detail on e.g. e.g. 1) what are all the possible values for the second last control? 2) What are all the different operator types and how do they differ?
The CPU demand is pretty high … is this unavoidable given the nature of the DSP, or is some optimisation planned?
