i weaseled out of a brunch engagement but am committed all evening to another event...hope Apple flicks the publish switch early in the day
in any case Sunday is free
I just preordered after getting to a certain point in sir doug’s video, in particular the song mode.
I love Drambo to bits, and I’m thinking simply hosting drambo inside GR2 may allow me to discontinue using Loopy Pro inside Drambo as a song mode workaround. I’m aware the Dr. already has song mode, and so does Loopy, but there are certain things that’s not necessary to get into at the moment, which i’m not satisfied with. We sall shee.
Didn't see this here

That's awesome.
The App Store description says "Expected Feb. 1, 2025".
I think it's nuts to reschedule things based on that. FOMO is so debilitating. 😂
But I'm an IT guy. We're always late with projects. Except when we leave the year off of an expected due date. Then we just say "Oh? You thought I meant Feb. 1, 2025?? 🤷🏼♂️".
There's a reason they say "expected"...
Midi import? Midi export? Asking for a friend of a friend’s mom and them
However, it is crucial to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy levels of expectations. Healthy expectations are flexible, adaptable, and allow for setbacks and growth, while unhealthy expectations are rigid, unforgiving, and can lead to chronic stress and self-doubt
I asked before... No Answer..
But, are there any DAWs that do not import midi?
No one has answered it yet😊
Depends how you define DAW…
Something this sophisticated should..
"Healthy" or "unhealty", my point was that there is no guarantee that the app would be out on a specific date.
What I mean is the definition of a DAW is not so simple on iOS, so there tend to be some extremely different tools defined as DAWs.
Would be nice.. hopefully, it does.
There have been several (most?) that didn't import or export midi when first released.
Just joking about the overall response to this app. Nothing aimed at anyone in particular. I’m looking forward to it for sure! 😎👍🏼
We may soon be counting up the days.
This is a solid, good way to look at things in general. I know you mentioned you were just joking, but I'll be dogged if this isn't the truth.
And yeah, GR-II will be released when it's released. Meanwhile, I have Cubasis 3 and working on client work. GR-II will be great for me to build some Techno tracks in. I know @dendy 's chomping at the bit. Can't wait to see what he does with GR-II.
What i will do ? As usually some boring psytrance or melodic techno shit, same like last 2 or three decades You know, some deep bass and kick, some pseudoscience blah blah in intro, then some random leads and arpeggios, that's it .. do not expect some art
Seriously, it's years when i wast last time this excited from some app... of course i am ready accept that my expectations were too big, but i really hope they aren't ..
I scanned through Doug's video to see how sampling works, but I couldn't find anything other than loading already-recorded samples.
I'm hoping that sampling is as easy as Koala or the Ableton Move.
What you do is art. I mean I've still yet to figure out how to sculpt my own perfect Psy kick, how to layer like a Psy artist, etc. 😂 Psy is definitely a sound designer's dream come true genre.
And Melodic Trance requires a modicum of music theory knowledge to pull off convincingly (which I'm able to do).
(Or you can cheat and download loops from Splice to build either genre, but where's the fun in that? 😂 )
Oh trust me, I've big expectations for GR-II as well. ☺️ Cubasis is for my DAW work and a great creative environment in its own right, but GR-II seems like a more immediate creative workflow! Been a while since I myself have been this excited for an app as well.
It's relatively straight forward.
Add the Sampler to a layer, tap edit and select create, this will create an new empty sample and take you into the sampler where you can record and edit the sample using audio input or any of the internal tracks, the sampler can also be minimized so you can perform on the track you wish to sample from etc.
Just a few more days to go...
@MrSmileZ Hi, there is no midi import or export.
damn.
so we've got feature request
Our friends have canceled our Saturday evening plans. I’m gutted 😊
Oh no. Whatever will you do? 🤣
Still wondering whether I should buy it or wait for the release/future updates. So far I gathered from this thread that there's no song recording and no midi export.. so does anyone know what exactly does the "Export & share your compositions" line from the GR2 appstore description refers to?
I bet it comes out Sunday when you have to go to church.
For the beta testers:
How’s the midi control on this? Can you navigate tracks and stuff? I know GR 16 was super configurable.
