Standalone though. Not AUv3 on Mac. Its midi can still be used with DAWs though.

To be clear @wim , you mean standalone only on Intel Macs ?

I have 3 instances running on Mac silicon M2 , in Drambo* as AUV3 midi host ,
which* unfortunately I barely understand & find navigation a nightmare ,
but somehow I got sending SPA x3 instances midi into Ableton

  • Sweet! Look forward to checking out all of Laurent’s latest magic

The SPA manual mentions that the AUV3 plug-in will show up in Logic after version 10.7 so it may have to do with the version of Logic you have which is dependent on the OS version your Mac hardware can run. It doesn’t even mention intel vs silicon. It’s running standalone on my Intel Mac mini with the latest Logic, I will look later to see if the AU midi plugins show up.

    I don't have a non Intel Mac, so I can't say.
Could just be my DAWs not supporting AUv3 MIDI plugins too. I don't have Logic.
I don't mind it being non-AUv3 so I haven't looked into it any further than that.

  • Well I was just trying to clarify & share the great news that it IS AUV3 - multiple instances - on Mx Macs
for Midi AUV3 hosts such as Drambo .

Ahh. You phrased it as a question, so off I went. 😂
    It is great news. 👍🏼

Seeing a new update.. seem extra large..

Edit.. seems it’s the same updates as ver. 5..

Would be nice to know what updated in this version.

  • One thing in this new update is something I asked for - ability to reorder lines. Glad that got added.

Having the occasional sale would generate some talk, but this app has not had a single sale in its 6 year lifespan.

    🎯

Well, I for one respect a company more when they stand by their pricing, whatever pressure they get from the outside.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in a very good position economically and love a good bargain, and I do chase price drops if I know they might happen, but, some company's show such a lack of respect toward people who have handed out the full price and they just don't seem to give a flying fuck about it either.

I do wish more companies were clear about their price models. Anyway, a solid product don't need them (sales).

Since they never go sale, they are always the lowest price on the day you buy them. I bought CPP when it was first released for $9 (I think) because I could see how useful it was going to be.
StepPolyArp, ChordPolyPad and QuantiChord all show up in Logic as Midi FX AUV3 plugins on my intel Mac running the latest version of Logic so there is added bonus. I’m fairly certain they used to be a separate purchase on Mac and I never bought them so I’m thrilled obviously.

  • Again a very nice update today for StepPolyArp! But as far as I know this version introduced a small bug: when Latch is on in Arp mode the Arp doesn't stop (keeps playing) when the host (I'm using AUM) is stopped. I hope the dev will look into this.

had the same bug, thanks for pointing it out

That sounds like expected behavior to me.

Seems this is how it played in the previous version.. Seems logical that it should stop…

So what is new in this version?

  • It's absolutely worth the price, can't say that about a lot of stuff. A sale would be cool, I think the majority of us are sale chasers, so even a subtle bump could invoke that mechanic and make the financial year with a 30% off sale for one month out of the year. I suppose your user demo are. Maybe they possess that intel and know that Americans will pay more , or maybe they hate us and want to gouge us- either way.. shits worth the asking price, imo.

That sounds like expected behavior to me.

StepPolyArp starts its own playback when it receives note input and stops when it has no note input, independently of whether host transport is running or not. Using Latch does not affect this behaviour AFAIK.

This also means that StepPolyArp playback can be out of sync with the host clock (and other apps which are in sync with it) - same BPM, but not on the beat.

  • I wouldn't like it if latch didn't work unless the host transport is running.
An option to unlatch and stop all notes when transport stops might be helpful to some though.

  • Just guessing, but I think that he might have noticed the popularity of randomiser options and realised that adding this would incentivize people who’ve been on the fence for a while to jump off. Helluvan update!

That’s what got me to jump.

  • almost the perfect step sequencer. all i miss is shift events by ms or ticks.
