"Requires iPadOS 17.6 or later". That's me out...
Great news! Considering that 90% of iPadOS users are on 17 or 18, the app is able to take advantage of the most up-to-date technology, and those users have the most recent security updates.
Yeah, I know. I'm not saying that it is bad or evil or anything. Just that people with older iPads like me are out.
It will get to the point where I'll have to upgrade sometime...
Hmm. Certainly relevant to my interests, but I wonder if it offers anything beyond what I have in MiRack.
Exactly what I was thinking. But the more the merrier!
The isomorphic keyboard (if you don't have GeoShred) and the fullscreen sequencers maybe?
It wouldn't be able to replace Drambo or miRack here though.
I am quite fascinated in how developers tackle the whole UI and design side of things when it comes to modular. However, I see the price just jumped from $12.99 CDN to $17.99 so I will hold off and watch how this one develops.
Interesting but the other app just offers so much more at this point. I’ll keep watching it tho! The dev has great videos

The drums are just samples by the looks of it?
I wonder what this can do that miRack can't. Honestly, both baffle my poor little noggin. 😂
Waiting to see where this app goes. There’s a lot you can do with 60 modules but at this point miRack and Drambo are untouchable.
Offhand, one thought is that having a system of modules that are all following the same design rules will make this easier to use as a whole. Less miRack and more Nord Modular.
I have a fairly large Eurorack system and find miRack frustrating to use, mostly because it's not my focus. This might allow for a more "casual" user to still get around.
The documentation doesn't give me confidence. I'm going to wait and watch.
Looks very old school visually. At this point, yeah, sticking with Drambo and Mirack. Drambo has something like 200 modules and Mirack has like 800.
Does this support AUv3 and how does this compare to KQ MiniSynth from the KQ Dixie developer?
https://www.kiraqtech.jp/blog/kq-minisynth-en/
It doesn’t look like it can host AUv3 but it can be used as one.
800 modules are no good if you don't know what all of them do and how to use them.
Mela is probably the better comparison. It's easy to become distracted by the cable-drawing UI.
I totally forgot I have that app! lol…
+1
The thing I really like about this app is the manual.
Has anyone taken the plunge to find out how it performs?
I’m more interested in performance and the quality of sound output. I can’t compare this with miRack because every module is from the single developer. MooMu is closer to the Mela and Tera Pro with the same uniform monochromatic look but with cables.
What I like is "Iso Keys" (like GeoShred), "Drum Seq," and a simple control assignment bar. But the functionality is still classic modular, nothing revolutionary. Maybe it is what it is: a simple, easy-to-memorize, fully functional modular synth. Less intimidating than miRack and simpler than Tera Pro or Mela. 😌
But only about 60-70% of iPad MUSIC creators are using the most current iOS. Many have iPads with much older versions to preserve their older music apps. If you make an app for pro musicians and producers, you'd better make it compatible with older versions of iOS, as far back as you can go. iOS music app development 101 😉
Some of those older devices might not have enough juice to run the newer apps properly...
...and in any case once the old devices break down then what?!
If 3-4 out of 10 users use older hardware it's not such a big deal in the end
Doesn't developing for an old OS just mean your app becomes obsolete more quickly?
The solution has always been to own multiple devices and deal with it.
Losing 30% to 40% of sales isn't a big deal...?
Especially in the tiny iOS music app market?
Older devices would likely perform pretty bad anyway when using the more advanced heavier apps…
…simply put apps should not be seen as ‘long term Investments’, apps come and go.
Almost every single person I know in real life keeps their devices up-to-date…
True.
At least the more established iOS developers like 4Pockets, Audio Thing, Korg, Bleass, Bram etc have a lower bar to app entry.
Maybe they have put a dollar value on that extra 30% to 40% of sales.
Maybe but if AUv3's are important then staying up-to-date is a must as Apple is very, very unlikely to add any AUv3 related fixes to older iPadOS versions and having to do multiple iOS version specific fixes to apps is well, not something I would do if I was a developer...
That’s not entirely true, my old iPad Air 4 when multithread enable apps outperforms the pro M1 … so it’s really a matter of programming or using multithreaded enable hosts
So what You're saying the A14 Bionic is faster than the M1?!
(I'm on an 11" M1 iPadPro and the A14 based iPad is nowhere near as fast in practical use-cases).
