This is high stakes. How will I go down in history after this? Will it be as a triumphant enlightened prophet - or a washed up foolish charlatan?…. I almost feel a poll coming on…. I’ll maybe go and speak to my wife, hopefully she can help me with that.

You will be someday be remembered as great. However, you will long ago have already been burned at the stake.

Hmm... stake... steak... now I'm hungry.

Maybe we should just roast him rather than burn him then.

😀 Can I at least keep my hat on?
I was just thinking we will find out soon enough - like in half an hour. But midnight on the 2nd will of course be another 24 hrs. Plenty of time for more speculation.
I don’t even know what I am doing here anyway, I already have enough vintage drum machines and dynamic processors to fill a scrapyard.
But does it have its own sequencer? Can it randomise? Can it go - rat a tat tat tsh tsh di bom? - if it can then I’m in! 🥳

Sort of ruins the surprise, but I really want to hear what it sounds like now.

  • It begins… 👀

  • Day one - whenever that is...

If it were to be released on iOS in a near future I'm sure it would have been mentioned here. Not a word on iOS on this presentation page.

  • Jatin Chowdhury! Nice.

  • @Pxlhg :Nope..U R correct..No iOS as of yet..

  • Really looks impressive..A natural for iOS eventually I would assume…

  • Seems like a beefed up Axon 3. Neat!

    Thanks for the interest, everyone!
I'm sure Tristan will chime in here with more info but just wanted to confirm that we will be looking at an iOS version as well. Timeline tbd but it will hopefully not be crazy. Usually desktop is so heavy of a lift for us that we need to focus on that first. Once it's out we begin scoping out iOS. Stay tuned!

I actually spent a bit of time using Axon 3 to sequence Tekno. Fantastic pairing.

Cool. Looking forward to this one. Can't get enough drum machines.

For those who wish to download a free trial version for desktop: https://babyaud.io/downloads

I'll be testing this one out thoroughly. It looks like it could be useful for me.

@tristan I'm loving the sounds I'm getting out of this trial version of the software so far.

    — One thing I'm really missing is a filter option on a per pad basis. I keep wanting to filter just one pad at a time so I can sculpt the sounds to a finer degree and it looks like I can't really do that because the filter affects all of the pads, right? Perhaps I'm wrong about this.

    — Same goes for the reverb. I keep wanting to adjust the reverb on a per pad basis and it's kind of driving me crazy that the option doesn't automatically come up when I click on the specific pad I want to edit.

    — Also... No delay? Delay and reverb are kind of boilerplate for drum machines. Perhaps others feel differently about this. I sort of expect it since my go-to drum machines right now are the GForce Software "IconDrum" and "DMX" emulations.

And I make these comments without having read the manual yet. I find the best test for new software is just to throw yourself at it and see how much you intuitively understand without resorting to a manual first.

To balance out the first impression criticisms, I think it was a great idea to bring on Jatin to co-develop this. He continues to do interesting things.

  • I have send an email with the question if it will be released on iOS as well.

Yes, they said that will be next on their list. They did the desktop development first because it's the most time consuming.

    Fantastic, good news!👍

Each drum voice has its own lo-/hi-cut filter with resonance, plus a dedicated transient shaper — all fully independent per voice.

Reverb is handled via a send, which you can dial in per pad for custom depth. There’s no onboard delay (yet), but our Comeback Kid plugin makes for a perfect companion.

And yeah — watching Jatin dive into this was a real treat. Guy’s brilliant!

Thanks! Looks like I will be checking out the manual. Something isn't quite clicking for me in the process yet.

By the way, I'd like to see more kits available that are designed to sound like real physical drums. A few of the patches are very convincing and I think there's a lot more room to explore there.

I think it might even be possible to model very different acoustic instruments... I remember Jatin saying he was interested in creating a synthesizer a few years ago, maybe you can keep him on for that? ;)

  • Another one?! Jeez how many is too many?

It's not identical to anyone else's drum synthesizer, so there's room for this.

On the iOS, besides Sugar Bytes Drummachine I cannot think of anything that goes this deep in drum synthesis as this. So I hope we will see this very soon on the mobiles.

First of all, Jatin Chowdhury is the developer behind Tekno. 🤩 This means there are tons of goodwill and technical mastery you can safely count on. The fact that Jatin now works with BA is fantastic news for me.

Regarding the drum synth, it visually looks fantastic, with no clutter of countless options. It’s deep yet still simple to use. I like it a lot!

I can’t wait for the iOS version. Congratulations for this fantastic new release! 🎉

  • Speaking of Chow, y'all ever heard the band... "Leather Aliens from Afar?"
It's like the b52's and NWA combined.

    Fun stuff

  • How did it go? Any news? 😛
