Does Tekno have an option to use "MIDI Standard" drums layout? Because when I tested the desktop version it did not follow this industry standard (unless I'm misremembering why I didn't buy it back when it was introduced).

How do you follow GM drum map when any pad can make any sound?

Well the pads come with default values, which unfortunately don't quite line up with GM. Maybe some of the presets do.

Right. It refers to the presets. And even when presets aren’t a 1:1 instrument compared to acoustic drums, you have sounds in the same frequency range (to wit: things which are clearly meant to be used as a kick or snare or hi-hat).

  • I already have drum computer ( sugar bytes ) which is …ok. Any difference in synthesis with Tekno? Or better sequencer/ midi routing? I think number of voices is higher in tekno, right?

Don’t have either - but have watched videos on both, and Tekno seems to sound better to my ears.. I’ve never been much of a fan of any previous drum synth apps before - but am considering getting Tekno because I like what I’ve heard.

Tekno sounds much better to my ears but I haven’t really plumbed the depths of sound design on either TBH. Drum Computer has a vastly more powerful sequencer. Tekno has 18 voices to DC’s 8. If I could only keep one I’d keep Tekno, but only if I also got to keep external sequencers.

I’ll add that I believe Tekno’s sequencer is expected to improve in version 2, based on comments upthread.

  • Impressed with the random sounds generated. Excellent for Tekno 😁.
Would like to have access to track mutes and solo from the main sequencer page. Maybe in v2

The synth engines in Tekno do sound better (I have Drum Computer) and it has more channels, but I’m not sure why the voices have to be fixed to each channel? If there was an option to have all snare synth sounds, for example, I’d be more tempted.

Worth bearing in mind Drum Computer has an option to do this, plus it works with samples, so theoretically you can make it sound just as juicy.

Still interested in this one though, it reminds me of Blip Box, but with a desperately needed randomiser.

  • We cannot save the sequences generated ? Seriously?
