Thx for the insight + update.
I still get a big difference in volume after pumping the drive though. Maybe I didn't understand what you meant by saying "bypassed and wet signal" ? You mean using the fx in a different channel ?
Also I noticed a clic sound when WOW/FLUT goes from 0 to 1, and a volume jump when COLOR goes from 7 to 8.
The idea is that you can pump the drive then trim down the output knob, so when you bypass the plugin you can match the gain - if you wanted to engage it and keep levels roughly the same. I'm not really doing any internal attenuation to try and maintain gain levels.
I'm working on some smoothing of those values in the next update, I'm surprised people like turning the knobs so much
Noticing that when you first add the app, init, there’s like an almost chorus-y swirl going on. What’s up with that under the hood (love it, just curious 😉)?
There are a number of delay taps for the wow/flutter (and age) that are always running, but ~should be at zero. Let's call it "simulating the unpredictable nature of analog equipment".
Rad, just adds to the 90s charm of the whole thing 👍
I really love the current way it works. Could you add a preset so one can go back to this setup in case you change the behavior of the output knob?
+1 👆🏼 @Tones4Christ @charlesv
I'll work on adding it as a hidden parameter, so it's available and the UI stays toggle-free
Thanks!
Wait, I'm an electric guitar player, I love toggles!

ID love tons of toggles switches lol
😆
Right up my alley, lol.
Kismet.
Im still kicking myself for not grabbing one of these 4 tracks when the prices got really low about 20 years ago.
@charlesv I really dig the aesthetic of the app and website. Those videos and explanations for each knob/toggle, showing exactly whats going on are great. well done!

Totally! I love how it reminds me of playing my guitar thru my old Tascam! Man, I almost bought a used one here locally just for nostalgia. But I'm trying to stay away from hardware as it begins to deteriorate and need more maintenance.
The setting I posted in my screenshot, sounded so much better than the preset I had going in Fabfilter Volcano! Seriously! No joke!
It gave my Pop drummer a really tasty lofi sound that was so pleasant! I also was using Tone boosters MBC compressor with the drum preset and it made the drums shine thru the mix.
Seriously, from all the apps I've recently purchased, this one has given me so much fun to tweak up and try so many different flavors of sound!
If you are on the fence! You're missing out.
This is absolutely worth grabbing imo for the very crunchy characterful distortion it can do. Hop into the premiere text chat starting in 5 mins if you're free:

I'll actually try to catch the live-stream this time
I don’t own this (yet) but quickly scanned Gavins Youtube. It sounds very good, but everything you throw at it seems to widen the sound, which sounds great but not always desirable, let’s say for the low frequencies in Techno/EDM where you want to keep bass/kick as much mono as possible. So a mono switch is something that could be very useful.
I liked this so much I got Punchline despite having too many drum machines. Good stuff.
You could put this after it

Yes that's my only real criticism, mentioned when I was demoing it on the kick
While this is an "intentional" side effect of the wya things were implemented, totally get that it's not always desirable - I'm working on an advanced mode that exposes among other things:
Stay tuned!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing! A nice video from @thesoundtestroom too!
Glad everyone's enjoying it!
Yes! Love it!
Bought it and like it, sounds different from the other tape sims I have.
I do have to say, it looks more like Porta One than a 424… either way, thanks 😊
1.0.2 is out: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tapescam/id6755081319
Smoothed the boost activation on the COLOR
knob
Corrected Audio Unit "Manufacturer Name"
Super sweet! Thanks looking forward to testing it out.
