I’ve got my guitar going through sounding nice with the built in compressor and reverb, how do you get the drum machine to play?

Nice! For the drum machine you need to click the Off button to turn it on - if DAW sync is on though it will only play when transport is playing - also make sure the drum machine is routed to a channel input and that input is set to monitor

Ahh yeah, the one button I didn’t try 🙌🤟🙏

Can you try adding custom samples to the drum machine - curious if that aspect works for you. Thanks!

Doesn’t seem to change the sound, still displays ‘load’ after you select a file from the browser…

Okay awesome thank you, this is a known bug - it works on my end but another user had the same issue. I'm going to push an update for this and others that will auto update onto test flight today or tomorrow.

Sweet, I did a bit of early testing on the Mac version but haven’t got deep into since those first bug hunts, it feels so much more at home on the iPad, tactile for the win✊

  • This is probably happening due to my ignorance regarding how tape machines work, but I’ve connected my interface to my iPad, plugged my bass, selected the interface as a hardware input on channel 01, clicked on “R” at the same channel and “Rec”, pressed “play” and it’s not recording. What am I doing wrong?

  • @GulfCoastSynthesis I may wait to test the app until AUv3 support is added. That's part of why I was hoping for a tape-styled DAW was to be able to record various AUv3 plugins live onto tape.

Not only it is not recording, but there’s no sound coming out of it, even though I did test the connectivity with the interface and it turned out ok.

Does the R on the track blink when you armed it, then it should go solid red and so will the record button when its recording. Does that happen for you? On the track if it says "IN" it means you're monitoring the input and it will autoswitch to "T" which means listening off the tape after you record. Also check the "MON" button which disables/enables track monitoring - this is for monitoring straight off the interface to avoid latency

I'm hoping to add support today and will send out an update - its definitely at least worth testing, maybe i'll just have a disclaimer about stability. For the desktop version I went through a ton of safety mechanisms to protect against third party plugin inefficiencies, but we'll see!

Cool! Just in time for me to test it either this evening or Saturday! Cheers and all the best, mate.

Also curious what people think of the alternative UIs I added - I added minimal dark mode and light mode for people who may not dig skeuomorphism...

Yes, they are good but they don’t take advantage of the main benefit they can offer: bigger, easier to read controls and interface generally. I find all interface options too small for comfortable use if I’m honest. Can’t see any reason for the non skeuomorphic options being as small as they are. iPad A16, 11 inch.

Also, is there no on screen keyboard option?

Would be nice for the minimal ui to take up all the screen on my iPad mini!!

I'll see if I can increase the size of everything since there is some blank space around - by on screen keyboard do you mean a musical keyboard? You can open one in the menu option called Musical Typing under View

Menu > View > Musical Typing

I am making up a list of interface suggestions. I agree with your views on the interface. The minimal dark interface is a good start but needs some work. 😎✌🏼

Ah, Musical Typing! Many thanks and thanks also to you @anickt.

  • FYI to load samples into the drum machine, you just need to add them to the GCS folder for now since its all sandboxed. I already fixed this though and will roll out tonight.

  • Just re asking a question I think got missed, where do you change the master bpm?

  • @Krupa said:

Click the setup button then go to metronome settings - keep in mind that you will need to actually re-print the metronome whenever you change the BPM because it physically prints it to a hidden tape track so that it follows all of the motor mechanics and tape fluctuations

Ahh I see, I’ll try that, didn’t realise we’d have to print it…

@GulfCoastSynthesis , the R and the record button do exactly that, and still there’s no sound - same thing regarding the “MON” button. The needle doesn’t even move on the track…maybe it’s something I should be doing before routing the interface to the track and arming it?

Sorry, it was really silly: I just switched the batteries in my audio interface when I noticed the metering lights on it were fading intermittently. Thank you os much for your patience!

I just pushed a new update that should go live in a bit.
    Fixes:
-can properly load samples into drum machine (sandboxing fixed)
    -Massive revamp of minimal UI
-Added MIDI learn to built in software instruments
-Fixed pop up windows getting trapped under header

I'll be working on enabling 3rd party ipad plugins next as well as some other tweaks.

My new project does not show or playback any of the 6 ca 2min long recorded audio files,
also the waveforms is not being shown anymore, project still loads fine, but no audio.
Which info do you need ?

    Kind regards

Did your app auto update to the new version 2.2? can you look and see what testflight says?

    Yes,

    Yes,
    Actual version 2.2.

Can you try recording a new project now that it's updated and see if that happens. I changed sandbox settings, and if you are opening from a previous version it may not load properly. Also if you don't mind emailing me at [email protected] for any bug discussions, thanks!

  • Thank you,

I found a workaround, copy complete broken project to iCloud Drive,
the audiofiles in the folder State1Auto are still useable.

    Kind regards.

P.S: Import audio files function does not work here.

So just to confirm, the issue was opening a project from the older version, correct? And you aren't having the issue with new projects started with v2.2? I'll take a look at importing, thanks!

The problem starts with the previous version, actually it does not appear, but I have to go deeper forthright same check.

I noticed that projects gets corrupted when whpe out the app instead of eject reel.
If I remember correctly this happens before my projects was loosing its audio files.

    Hope that helps,
Should we switch to email ?

    Regards

Oh great catch, I didn't even think about that - well I just pushed an update that should fixed the audio import and hopefully opening previous projects with new version. Yep lets switch to email, thanks!
