Dang , what’s the big deal over $5 per month for Logic Pro sub? A cup of coffee if you leave a tip .
Are you sure you're in the right thread? I went through the whole thing just now and don't see really any discussion of the subscription cost for Logic Pro.
There are plenty of reasons other than cost that people might not be interested in Logic Pro.
Streets is saying that you'll have to switch to the suite subscription if you want Logic Pro iPad, so it would go up to $13. Not confirmed yet.
Thanks. I was reading up on it and apparently the audio editing is kinda limited?
Yes. If existing Logic Pro for iPad subscribers keep their subscription running, they'll still get it at the current price of 5 bucks. If they ever unsub, though, they'll only be able to get access again as part of this 13 bucks Creator Bundle or whatever it's called. I totally understand why people are annoyed.
AEMS audio editing is much better. Everything is done right on the timeline. You can cross-fade, time-stretch, re-pitch, reverse etc. I was initially underwhelmed with AEMS but it became my go-to once I learned it. Of course YMMV but I’m glad I gave it a hard look. 😎✌🏼
Going for the Xbox Game Pass approach. I'm still subbed so I guess I'll be fine.
Well, I'll have to give it a go.
@wim : Ok, my bad .. I’ve just got subscription pricing PTSD every time I see a LP4ipad discussion going .
Seems like no one is talking about MultitrackStudio. I never tried it, but it seems very advanced.
😂✌🏼
I cane across this on FB. It has DAWProject export! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uk-868/id6581488836
Can AEMS record in 32 bit float, and allow editing of gain per clips like Logic Pro?
Cubasis 3 > all others.
Logic Pro is yet another example of the ever worsening trend of subscription software. Just hell no, personally. But if you’re keen on supporting that trend.. LP might be a contender too. After all, the OG desktop version is pretty solid, and well regarded (as much as any of them, really).
Yes
Dear Wim, it seems you found a bug indeed. We have solved it and a new version will be released soon with the fix. The bug happens when the file is on local storage. It probably would have worked if it was on iCloud or something, but if you can wait a day or two, it will get fixed with the update. You are welcome to report bugs directly to us by email.
When you create a drum pattern track, you can use AUv3 instruments with it, regardless of whether you turn it into a multi-instrument drum pattern track or not. However, with the 'standard' drum pattern track every sound comes from only one AUv3.
FWIW I couldn’t get it to work no matter where the samples were stored. But anyway, samples in the cloud download to the device for access. 😎✌🏼
Great, thanks.
fwiw, I was trying to load a sample that was in iCloud, but was locally downloaded on the device in the iCloud folder ... if that makes sense.
I tried loading an AUv3 synth into a drum track and entering hits on the different drum lanes. It played back different pitches as expected. However there is no way to access the AUv3 parameters as there would be in a midi instrument track. If there was then drum tracks could be used with AUv3’s like OneShot. This would be nice because using OneShot in a midi instrument track doesn’t allow for different velocities per instrument.
I will continue any further discussion of AEMS in the AEMS thread. 😎✌🏼
Interesting GUI… I get a headache just by looking in the App Store😂. But as always, YMMV.

I'm sure it's a capable DAW, but that UI is an eyesore for me personally. Ymmv of course.
Ah, ok. I derived it from the code, I didn't actually check it. But anyway, a fix has been uploaded already to Apple. Now we just have to wait until they release it. Should be tomorrow.
Probably one of the best devs on mobile.
I swear, I will check AEMS out sometime next month to see what I can create in it. (Jamuary is a very demanding music challenge.)
The update should be out now. Please let me know if it works.
It is
It’s in the top 2 for me
The feature list is almost too long, very stable, always in development
Here’s some stuff.
File import (multi-selection) worked. 👍🏼
I couldn't get folder import to work. Could be user error.
Which DAW would others say best handles MIDI controller mapping/routing along with audio recording? I really want to get a DAW setup focused on using my Launchkey for keys, finger drumming, and transport controls while also recording guitar? Ideally I’d get MIDI Guitar working. Logic Pro was crashing a lot last night trying to record audio, and I couldn’t get MG3 to work without crashing. I’ve gotten everything setup in AUM before, but I’d like to translate that to a timeline based DAW.
The great question.
Just yesterday I decided to give Cubasis a chance, looking at this thread. All I wanted is to send several controllers (KeyLab and it's faders + BT Boss continuous pedal) into my own dRambo MIDI FX plugin that takes CCs on channel 16 and transforms them to other CCs on channel 1 with special logic. And then send this result signal to SWAM instrument without original ch.16 CCs. And it seems to be impossible without creating a separate instrument-less track for MIDI processing only.
In all possible 1-track configurations I faced an issue that ch.16 somehow reaches the instrument no matter what I do. It looks like MIDI FX isn't an "insert" FX chain but a "parallel" one. Also all the MIDI monitors (MIDI Tools, StreamByter, Mozaic) didn't work correctly inside this MIDI FX chain.
I tried it but had to refund, again because of too limited FX (audio and midi) routing
Do these DAWs just struggle for routing MIDI between tracks? Is the best way to go running AUM for MIDI and audio routing, then piping that audio into something like Cubasis through IAA? Would that detract from the benefits of Cubasis’s multi-core processing? I also feel like relying on IAA is building on pillars of sand at this point. Most apps are dropping support.
Using IAA for routing is a house of cards, as you've said.
However, handling MIDI processing and routing in AUM, and routing the resulting MIDI into Cubasis isn't a bad plan when Cubasis can't handle what you want well internally. Simply routing MIDI doesn't rely on IAA, and should be solid into the future. (Though I wouldn't put it past Apple to screw that up some day either.)
