It’s great news about ZGX, news we have wanted for a long time😊.
If he can, he will, that I am sure of. I know he will be busy representing Roland at NAMM so don’t expect a lot of info apart from what will be shown there for now.

I’m genuinely started to wonder about selling my MC707 now.
Lol! I sort of remember that exchange, but that was ages ago. 😅 Your memory definitely exceeds mine. I wonder if Zenbeats has drum tracks, or if I'd need to use Koala Sampler as a drum module.
IMHO the drum module is the best part of Zenbeats. FWIW 😎✌🏼
The model of offering an app for free for a ‘demo period’ then requiring payment is interesting. I will definitely give it a try. I am interested in the compatibility with Roland hardware (I didn’t see any mentions of that in what I read), in esp. presets made on the iPad being ported to a Fantom. Anyone hear anything about that?
I also have a fantom and Zenology on the desk top advertises patch compatibility between the two. I don't see why this would be any different but who knows. You might have to put. the iPad files on a usb drive to get them into the fantom but I don't see why Zenology iOS wouldn't allow file export.
Dang! Well, once Jamuary is over, I may try Zenbeats over AEMS to be honest. What's the automation like in Zenbeats?
If I'm impressed by Zenbeats, I may just go for the Roland Cloud subscription so I can have ZB and Zenology GX in one fell swoop.
This is the Desktop version, it looks very similar to the upcoming iPad version.
Have a look and a listen, then start saving those pennies ready for the launch lol

🤔 Tell me more…. I don’t have a Fantom, but I am actively saving for one to replace my older workstation. I’d be more enthusiastic about getting it if I knew there was some degree of compatibility between PC & iPad. I haven’t yet gotten into ZenBeats/Zenology/ZenCore, and I was assuming some compatibility there, but this Zenology GX synth could be just enough to sweeten the deal. Do you find it reasonably compatible to use hardware, PC, and iPad through this still developing Zen system?
i use to own the fantom, so i'll be getting this and selling my mc707.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your interest in ZENOLOGY GX for iPad! It's been fun working on and I'm happy we have finally annouced it. While I'm demoing the standalone version at NAMM this week, I can say we are working on AU support as well. Go here to sign up for more info via email list and we'll send out more info as we get closer to the official release.

This is the very same version, with the exception of us embedding/porting the APRS and CHORDS seq effects from GALAXIAS into the standalone ZENOLOGY GX. You'll be able to share presets made on ZENOLOGY GX (iPad) with GALAXIAS along with exporting SVZ files for other Zen Core powered products.
Will check back here after the show to answer any followup questions.
Cheers!
@MatthewAtZenbeats Thank you for dropping in and all the best at NAMM 🏆🤝
AU support confirmed. Great news.
After listening to some of those presets my heart is now set on buying it. I did notice that when it was explained about different types of presets available, I was a bit “Oh blimey” when I saw all those dozens of preset packs to purchase! I hope there is a good selection as standard when first purchasing ZENOLIGY, other than that, I can’t wait 👍
Mike.
Got the fantom 06 and zenology is basically the synth engine on the fantom. The sampler is straight up garbage NOTE not so much the sampler as the pads but this the 0 series and the sequencer is something I will never use so I’m basically paying for zenology in a roland hardware controller. Yes you can use it as a logic controller if that is something you want to do but with logic remote, why? I think that if you buy the upgraded Fantom you will have a better experience than with the 0 but I wanted the sounds more than the workstation aspect and if you like Roland this is choked full of Roland goodness. No crazy synth engines or granular what nots but it ooozes Roland in the sound department which I LOVE. The problem is so does Zenology Pro because of the Zen Core system. AND it’s much cheaper than a Fantom.
Got zenology last year and thought hmmm,….why did i buy a fantom? I should have gotten zenology instead. Probably not what you expected or wanted to hear but save your money. Get zenology and the analogsynth models for 599 usd. Skip the fantom and get an mpc live 3 instead.
Regardless of my situation, yes zenology on a computer and the fanton/juno series are compatible with patch programming. But i’m using zenology pro, not zenology gx which is part of Galaxias which I don’t use and never will because I’m not giving roland another dime, much less 150 usd.
Nuff said.
Amazing! I signed up for the Zenology GX newsletter. That overview video for the desktop version has me excited with all the possibilities for creating Ambient drones and other cool things. My (pretty basic) question is (and I might've missed it above) - does Zenology GX contain PCM waveforms from the JV-1080 and from Sound Canvas?
Wow Mathew is back.. Great to see him here..
You’ve gotta admit , this new Synth is gonna be a natural what with the new synth “player” in Logic Pro 4 iPad. Even if you’re against subscriptions.
Explore the vast collection of presets or craft your own using 23 authentic oscillator and filter models, over 7,000 PCM waveforms
I think you misinterpreted my question. I'm asking if there are waveforms from the JV-1080 and Sound Canvas included in those over 7000 PCM waveforms.
Thanks for the feedback! I looked at the Fantom O6, but I’m leaning more toward the EX as one last workstation for my collection (sorta replacing one I have that’s 30 years old). I already have more Roland synths than I should have, so I probably don’t need Zenology, nor Galaxias, but I am interested in cross-platform compatibility. I might be tempted to spend more time making a patch on the iPad if I knew I could then load that onto hardware, and vice versa. Buying a new PC and getting Zenology might be cheaper, but I still prefer hardware for playing and tweaking. And there is a healthy used market for hardware - I have sold enough hardware in the past several years to buy 4 synths, so in the worst case scenario I could sell a Fantom EX if I don’t like it. I think the future for Roland is a blend of software and hardware, and I want to try that hardware/PC/iPad synergy.
From spending a few minutes on this question, the answer is leaning yes on the waveform level, with the synth engine sounding a little different.
This is all the information I could find:
Layer up to four instances with definable key ranges, sophisticated macro controls, per-layer effects, and creative tools like ARPS and CHORDS. Explore the vast collection of presets or craft your own using 23 authentic oscillator and filter models, over 7,000 PCM waveforms, 11 LFO shapes—including a versatile Step LFO for rhythmic movement—and 90+ effects. From studio to stage, ZENOLOGY GX puts limitless sonic potential at your fingertips.

Hope it has all the SRX PCM’s. I have missed those since selling my Fantom X way back.
Is this more rompler or synth?
While I can't be absolutely sure, I've taken a look at GX in Galaxias (I have also downloaded all the add-on packs available via the Ultimate subscription) and can't see any. I would also note that Roland Cloud used to offer a Sound Canvas plugin, but this was removed in 2024 (https://rolandcloud.com/news/sound-canvas-va-is-being-discontinued).
I used to rely on the SC-55 soundfonts available online (I reckoned this one was the best : https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/129928-new-sc55-soundfont-266mb-all-new-441k-samples/), but last year made my own from the Sound Canvas app that used to be available for iOS until July 2023.
Have boxed my MC707. Time to put on FB.
Thanks @MadGav @rapidfire and @dpeace .
Shame though Sound Canvas was discontinued @dpeace , although I could still find it under my purchases a month or two ago.
Thanks for that video @Jumpercollins ! This looks great. 😊
its a synth. You can use samples in it, but its not a rompler!
