In fairness tho, this is at least the kind of AI that assists creativity rather than simply replacing it. Only did flick through the video though, tone is incredibly irritating
I bet if you made a video about Google AI, it'd have a better tone to it while thoughtfully explaining the pros and cons of this Google Deep Mind AI slop. Then again, I'm certain you too wouldn't bother touching upon AI in the first place.
I mean, as a curious minded person, there's a lot I find interesting about AI. It's just that, the more I've reflected on it, the more I doubt that we live in the kind of society where this tech will end up being a force for good. I think, on balance, it'll make things worse. Doesn't have to be that way, shouldn't be that way, but it likely will be!
Yep, which is the reason I stopped using AI to generate album covers. And yeah, it shouldn't be that way, but knowing how humankind is, AI will only be used to make things worse.
@Gavinski : Agreed .. Ai is too new. People who make music by conventional means can be extremely uncreative also… I’m old enough to remember the virulent backlash against drum machines when they were first introduced.. Or even against hip hop music . Heck even against Rock n roll and the Beatles ..
I think this looked extremely interesting. Watch out for Google , they’re coming on strong with music app.

I get AI for some things but music is real-time and fun already. Nothing I have seen has interested me. Maybe once you can do creative experimental sound design with it (everything in that area I heard is just super goopy slop and we already have awesome FX vsts and AUs). For now at best it all just comes across as automated sound library laundering... whoop
I don't want to hear about AI until it is heavily regulated. The world has allowed AI to undress little children and nobody has called for it to be disallowed worldwide.
I’m not looking forward to the day when ‘creating’ music is no different from selecting a song from your streaming playlists.
If it lowers the bar of entry, and people have fun with it, why not? If people then want more granularity, then they can use other, more traditional tools. I mean, some of the lofi stuff that it's made is mostly just pitched down jazz with almost 0 other input. Some artists began like that then moved to all synthesized stuff.
I agree tho about the part that AI in general might disturb civilization for the worse... But it's there to stay, so I might as well learn to use it in a helpful manner. Eventually will move to local open source LLMs when I have more time to set it up.
LLMs are built on stolen creative work, the environmental cost is utterly bonkers, and the output is derivative junk.
This looks neat. I think sound design ai tools can be used pretty creatively. This letting you “dial in” what you want is a cool concept and makes the prompting feel more “hands on” vs “take whatever this spits out then try another prompt”. It kind of reminds me of deep fractal zoom videos.
Another cool ai feature from a different synth is Synplant 2’s Genopatch where you can provide a sample and it will use machine learning to replicate the sound a give you the components used.
Effective regulation won't happen unfortunately. Too many nations who don't care much about regulations, and the tools are here so they will be used.

AI never replaces anything.
That’s like saying if I create music that sounds like yours I’m replacing you. I’m not.
No one can ever replace the thing that you make unless they literally copy it. And in that case, there’s a copyright law.
This was released about 6 months ago. I wonder what’s changed.
"Infinite Crate" basically replaces Muzak. Could be the new "on-hold" music we hear everywhere soon.
Finally we are going to be famous musicians soon so we don’t have to hang around here talking hobby.

It’s kinda difficult not to be against it when you see your passion being destroyed.
I only got into music because it was easy. Can't wait till AI kicks into full gear so I can create awesome music with no effort.
