"Repel" doesn't seem to have any effect as far as I can tell. Anyone else notice this or is it user error?
I was going to pass on this until I went to add a bit of arpeggiated synth on a track today, and noticed how nearly all of my synths make this more difficult than it needs to be. So I bought this one for that purpose and it works lovely.
The sounds are great, no issues yet on my iPad 2. The controls feel a bit sparse though, and touching the flies on the screen doesn't have much effect - which makes me wonder why it's afforded so much UI real estate.
Still happy with it though, and nice to have another synth with a normal arpeggiator.

I think it's effect is probably dependent on the other 'flock' settings - I can hear a bit of a difference, but like touching the onscreen flies, it's all a bit subtle for my kidneys.
The synth is VERY likable, but the sounds is not ~lovable~.
But it is very accessible and fun.
Sometimes the sound sounds thin to me, and other times, it sounds just great.
If you can afford a cup of coffee, I'd buy it. I'm also excited about FM 4 at .99.

This synth sounds great, but I don't see it in the Cubasis inter-App list. And there is no MIDI mapping?
Don't see it in Audiobus either!
I'm seeing it in AB and Cubasis IAA....working great in both. Controlling with virtual midi (Different Drummer.). I'm on an iPad 4 with the latest ver. OS and all apps.
I just spent about an hour with it. First, a correction-6 voices brings the oscilator count down to 16, not 20.
There are some cool sounds to be had out of this. It seems ideal for pad and chord sounds, but there are also some ripping bass sounds, especially for resonant bass tones.
The flock is quite cool, but it is super subtle unless you really crank up the oscilators and the flock controls. I was getting a lot of "is this doing anything?" until I moved things to high settings. Hopefully the developer tweaks this in the future.
As I said before, I'd like to see more waves added...maybe an ability to blend different waves would really help set this apart.
My biggest complaint is with midi. The app runs in omni, so you've got little options if you'd like to use it in any way but standalone. Adding CC control would be a nice touch as well.
^^ I agree with all of the above.
In addition,
An extra oscillator slot for loading user waves would be excellent.
Perhaps being able to add a second/multiple waves and divide the flocks timbres between them would create some other interesting sounds.
A 'second' oscillator per voice (you know what I mean) would be cool. It would be like two different flocks of insects interacting with each other, instead of one species. Like..blue flies and green ones! A second oscillator per voice with flock control would dramatically increase tonal potential, and I don't believe it would clutter the interface at all either. I think it's a reasonable request within the realm of possibility, seeing as it is only a single osc poly at the moment.
@bonso: haha, looks like you beat me to the punch!
lol
perhaps but you expressed it more eloquently!
a second species! blue preferably.

On my iPad Air iOS8 it's not working.
@Greg - I'd try deleting and reinstalling. I'll give it a try on my mini retina tomorrow, but no problems on the 4.

Yeah me too - there's a lot of screen space devoted to the 'flock' control but it doesn't do a great deal, unlike Animoog, for example. If this control is not going to be developed further then I'd prefer to see more space given to the keyboard, which is a bit small and silly for practical use. Plus I keep triggering the iPad bottom panel reveal while I'm playing.
Overall though it produces some good sounds, particularly bass and ambient as others have said, and I like the straight forward arpeggiator.
I was just messing around with Alchemy Mobile and while using the mix pad noticed it also had little swarms moving around from place to place as I moved my finger across the interface ! They reminded me of the swarms inside photophore.
^ You are right Sir. Folks are also right when they look at the real estate taken up by the subtle swarming. Look forward to the dev either explaining what fools we are and how we're doing something obviously wrong or deciding that (s)he can add other options here (expanded keyboard etc).
Ya i am not getting much out of the visuals either. When I move my fingers over the swarm, well not much happens. When you move your finger over the pads with the swarmy things in Alchemy, magic happens! But it really does sound nice anyway.

Not sure what occasioned that type of response- do you often have developers calling you a fool?
And if anyone really isn't getting it- when the swarm is tight, there is more detuning- when you touch it they disperse and there's less detuning. I hear it on lots of patches...
I hear the slight detuning, sometimes, but it hardly warrants 90% screen space, particularly when the keyboard is so cramped.
Have you tried to contact the developer with requests? He's on FB, seems receptive to feedback.
Yes it does something, ( kind of ), just not much to warrant its use for the most part. Perhaps a tutorial from the developer on this feature going into more detail could be helpful? Even after messing with the swarm settings though I could not tell a great deal of difference in most instances.
I think Photophore and Spacevibe are going to grow into something special. They compliment each other well too.
is it just me or? how can i edit name of the user patch?
Is photophore going to get midi learn?
The dev just posted a reminder on FB that today is the last day of the sale.

Was just using this triggered by Step Poly Arp just last night and the results sounded simply beautiful and evolving in so many ways.
It's a good one (IMHO), but also has the feeling of could be better. Happy to have bought it, especially on the basis that it could be 'front pager' by V2.1. We'll see...
Yes I find it very good at stand alone also. The combo of it and SPA really brought it home for me for some reason that was very pleasing to the ears.
Using this app a lot lately, I really enjoy the different interface it has.
