  • iMini and iSem too! Hasn't made it 'round the world yet.

  • Thanks for the heads up.

  • Convince me I don't need iSem please.

@bonso You most certainly do. What kind of club did you think this was?

    Fixed.

Might listen to some audio demos or fire up Analog Lab on my desktop to help decide.
Clearly these are all amazing value, but there's only so many synths I can collect before they become more of a hindrance than an inspiration!

Soundwise, I was always quite fond of Arturia's TAE emulations. I thought they were richer sounding than most (hardware)VA alternatives at the time. I dunno if this is still valid with modern instruments/VST, but that doesn't matter much to me.

You certainly don't need it, but it's the best of the bunch IMO. Great for synth bass.

But I do understand the too many choices dilemma.

34.62% of cats prefer the (bass) taste of iSem.

After some consideration, I think I generally prefer the sound of Virsyn Tera.
Not bass specific and completely subjectively.

  • @bonso be certain; we have nothing but time.....

  • All three arturia apps appear to be on sale. Are they all functional? Worth picking up?

Your message appears to be missing ... :)

Yes, they're all good. A few niggles with iMini and iProphet. Occasional hung notes with iMini, for example.

More info in this thread: http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/5702/arturia-iprophet-out-now/p1

  • Still $9.99 in the US at this moment. (Posting this because last time I did the price dropped while I was writing the post. :P)

  • Should pop for you in the next hour and a half.

  • I have them all but must say they are all worth the price definitely!

  • ISEM is excellent, I use it on gigs for synth bass.

  • edited December 2014

I (look at me) consider ISem and IMini to be front rank. Troublesome at times here and there, but quality. IProphet I don't get the same 'individual' feeling from, but that might simply be a reflection of my own interaction with it. The first two I got while still starving, the last one when full.

  • I found the iprophet pads to be the most powerful of the three. Mini for bass and leads and of course isem for some pads as well as sequences and arps. They all contribute to various areas and things very well I find.

  • iSEM is my favorite synth on iOS.

  • 15 bucks for all those synths. Just wow.

  • They are all sweet, although the usual niggles apply (an iMini fix is in the pipeline), but it's really hard to turn down any classic hardware emulations at these prices.
Btw, I paid full price for them all, and consider that money well spent!

  • Is the 'iMini fix' going to include midi channel selection? The app sounds great, but is totally unusable in the real world without midi channel selection options...

  • I never use iMini - seems to have 'volume issues' on mine, and I just don't get the lush sound I'd expect from a Moog. I love iSEM though - great big sounds from that, one of my faves.

iProphet was never on my radar, but for this price I think I've just detected a signal...

  • No.. I will not buy it!

  • Ah right I forgot it was one of theirs, and just seen all the bugs listed in the apps thread. Probably give it a miss then.

  • Is iMini worth buying if you have Animoog?

Is iMini worth buying if you have Animoog and the Model D pack? Or does this negate buying iMini? I've held off on buying iMini thus far, and it seems like buying the Animoog expansions might be better in the long run.

  • edited December 2014

Animoog is a completely different beast - I love the sounds but don't get on with the editor. iMini is based on the classic Moog layout, but, and this is why I don't use it, I have serious issues with the sound quality. It always opens on full volume, and even when I reduce it most of the sounds are distorted.

I know other's aren't going to agree but personally I wouldn't bother with either - I'd rather fire up Thor any day of the week.

+1...Sure,the workflow is different and that leads to different sound color , but listening to demos I am not convinced. Most of the sounds I believe I can make them inside thor/magellan...

It's very annoying to me that iMini has been broken since I updated to iOS 8 ... in September I think. Audiobus is disabled. An Arturia tech told me the goal was to fix it by year end. In my opinion, it's bad business to keep the consumer waiting so long for what I considered a quality app.

  • I've tried the SEM plugin but the isem demos don't seem to have that chunky analog sound that i remember, is iSEM an exact port? Maybe it's the YT quality but iprophet sounds pretty great!

@Korakios/monzo when i look at analog emus it's alll about the different character each one imparts with the osc, env and filters etc but to my ears ims20 sounds more raw for want of a better word.
