  • I'm starting to see the price increases here. Fuck, Cubasis is €57 now!

Iceland kicked the parasitic banksters out and they see prices decrease in the Appstore!

And we get prices increased. Fuck all you greedy Wallstreet vultures, bloodsucking vampires. Parasitizing from other peoples hard labour.

My blood is boiling right now.

Several Apps in my wishlist just increased in price from 2.99 to 3.99 UK Pounds. (a 33.4 % rise)

Pretty disappointing to see the extra price hike, given the expected change from 5%(?) to 20%(?) Taxation.

That's a con. I thought we were paying 3%, so it'd be a 17% rise. Apple have 'structured' things so that it's much worse. Fine, I'll simply buy less apps, or only those on sale.

The changes are affecting Bandcamp sellers too: http://www.factmag.com/2014/12/29/bandcamp-sellers-vat-tax-digital-downloads-from-january-2015/

I'm an accountant by trade and this new system is causing mayhem with a couple of my clients who sell digital services to Europe. Waaaaaaay more complicated in terms of statutory reporting and administration!

As far as the App Store is concerned, we UK customers have experienced the benefit of Apple's naughty VAT status for a long time. Back to reality, unfortunately. There is a good argument for saying that we should be paying UK VAT on digital purchases. If the prices are raising more than 17%, though, that's an unfortunate leap - must be due to Apple's price banding.

  • got Zeta (19.99) and iVCS (14.99) before it will increase

  • Aaargh - this is going to hurt :(

Just discovered it all affects my online businesses too. The worst part is the VAT accounting we're all going to have to do, absolute nightmare.

  • Korg Module looks like it's gone up by a bit over 10% in the UK. It's £29.99 now (roughly $45 rather than $40).

Looks like i'm definitely not getting it now (until a sale). Not that I currently have iOS8 or any room for it :).

This may be a good thing.

And pretty much everything else I already have :).

Interesting, there doesn't seem to be much linearity to the price increases.
(even accounting for the price banding system as far as I understand it)

    0.69 now 0.91

    2.49 now 2.99

    2.99 now 3.99

    6.99 now 7.99

iOS Apps are still amazingly good value by any standards, so I hope this won't hurt the market too much.

It's TAXES, the developers don't see a dime from it. Ofcourse it wil hurt the market.

Taxes go up - economy goes down

Taxes go down - economy goes up

  • It seems ludicrous to me that small developers are having to account for VAT in so many countries, with the potential for them to withdraw from markets or even shut up shop. Hopefully someone will quickly realise the damage this is doing and come up with a smarter way to deal with this issue.

    Not at all patronising.

Sorry man, wasn't my intention to be patronising. I am just pissed off about this whole thing, not at you.

  • Prices for the Auria plugs are still the same (in my country),maybe i should take the money (from my Alchemy refund) and immediately spend it for the Fab Limiter, before the price increase.

Cheers and I'm sorry for reacting like that!
    shame

  • I live in Cyprus. Now all apps are being charged 19%. Ok on smaller priced apps, but not big ones. I'm glad I paid out when i did. Looks like to me, the developers will have to make the app very special to make me buy now. :-(

  • Or stop it with the iPad music making(only for sketch work) & go back to PC music making.

  • I'll still judge value against the price. The vast majority of apps I have are good value had they been at the new price point, so I'm not too pissed off.

  • I think with these changes to VAT, this will only benefit larger developers/companies, the administration alone is a hefty burden, here on iOS I don't know exactly but I imagine that will be taken care of by Apple, but for the sole small trader well a nightmare. As to the EU I think an agreed rate or banding rate could have been implemented for all Nation States, to cut out a lot of the administration for smaller companies.

  • Gonna make the app sales even more precious.

Because PC software is cheaper than Apps now? Many people (spoiled by app store pricing) totally lost any sense of proportion. Many good Apps are still dirt cheap for what they deliver.I'm also not for increased prices but this here is a one time tax adjustment.Try to get over it ;-)

  • Yes, nobody likes price increases but apps are still dirt cheap compared to desktop programs.

  • Yep without a doubt the most affordable platform for making music, but also the most fragile, for developers that means a lot of work and commitment, with little and maybe now, with new developer T&C's, even less of a return.
