SOUND Canvas for iOS by Roland Corporation

15 bucks would be reasonable if it could be used with other apps as it is it makes a nice paperweight.
Manual. http://m.roland.mu/app/Scanvas/sci_manual_e.pdf

Thanks for that. I haven't been following this one, but it's nice to see it at least supports virtual MIDI. ThumbJam should be fun with this as well.
The manual says its compatible with inter app audio, is that a mistake?
@Lacm1993 It does show up as a IAA instrument.
Nice catch. Now who's gonna test it?
But does it work?
That is good to know, hope it works ok
Shows up as generator and instrument in Audioshare, but haven't been able to get it to work yet.
FAQ says IAA and AB not supported.
New hardware and new software required
Thanks again for the info. How's the virtual MIDI working?
Wonder if the fact that it appears as a generator and instrument implies that will be added.
From the first page of the manual...
*Compatible with : Virtual MIDI, Inter-App Audio, OPEN In.

Maybe it's on the horizon, because I don't want limits.
I bought it this morning...
39 MB? 1600 sounds? I'm confused...
Wonder if it's possible that the AB SDK is partially implemented in the code base. Half full. Looking forward to audio demos.
Didn't realize Roland had that many apps in the store.
PDF manuals are fine but HTML manuals are better. The manual text (thank you Morris) is silly small on iPhone.
The intro to the manual (didn't get further) and the App Store description both do an astonishingly bad job at describing the features of the app. Well, only astonishing if you forget or you haven't suffered a Roland manual before.
I've never not had Roland gear since 1986 but I have never met a Roland manual I got along with.
App Store does say something about 67 drums. I'm hoping they mean drumkits. Can anyone confirm?
@syrupcore Drum Kits are on page 42 of the manual (I'm also seeing 63 drum sets specified on the last page)
One "feature" I found rather amusing is that there is no software interface for the insert effects, you need to use sysex(!) to select effects and modify parameters (they direct you to the SC-8020 manual). Typical Roland... are there any iOS MIDI sequencers capable of sending sysex?
OK I have it. Issues with IAA but it does have background audio, virtual MIDI and open in. Actually sounds really good in the mix and has such a small footprint! Just a few tweaks and it will be superb.
Wonder if this was rushed to the market, IAA is intended, but couldn't get it working in time, so how's it shape up to the real thing?
That's not new though. Many apps have suffered with IAA related issues after initial launch.
Any ideas how it will perform on 'older' devices?
What kind of polyphony can we expect from 1st Gen iPad Mini or iPhone 5?
Both of these devices can run the latest iOS but are not officially supported by Roland...
I'm thinking about skipping the iPad Air 2 and go for the 'next' revision as my iPad Mini works fine for most things i need to do with it.
Yes teething troubles I agree, but it's the contrary FAQ vs User Manual, that made me wonder if it was rushed, but will be implemented in time, hope this is the case.
Does it really not work on any iPad before the Air? Other iPads are not listed as being compatible.
Sounds are fab(just like my old Boss DR Synth 330, & yes..... Boss are Roland)but behaviour is a little buggy with midi. It's only just come out. I would think Roland will address this, like most companies do(eg:Korg, ect.)
Buhuuu, I can not even purchase it since none of my devices are supported...
The spec does seem ridiculously high, compared to other apps.
