Just so people know, the older version Audiobus didn't work with PUSH's side-chaining "key input" and "main". I upgraded to latest version Audiobus and it works beautifully. This is really easy to set up and get going. Thanks Kymatica.
@bonso, I think I understand what you are talking about. I don't see any option to control the output level of the "key input" You'll always hear the drumloop playing.
Feature requests in announcement threads are for devils and assholes but... Auria versions! Perhaps you've already looked and it's too much work or not worth the effort. If so, totally understand. Naturally, after 10 minutes with this I WANT 5 AT ONCE—just like every other AUFX wonder. Auria is the only path to multiplicity-von-effectus on iOS.
simple side-chain within Loopy HD. So good
Yeah, I was really pumped about this one... and after trying it I can say without a doubt that this does not disappoint. She's beautiful. Huge upgrade for me, personally. Kudos Mr. Aux. You are a superstar in the making if not already arrived.
AUFX: Push is greyed out for me when I try to put a second instance on a parallel AB track. Am I missing something??
I had the same problem. It only worked after I upgraded to the latest version of Audiobus. Works great now
Thanks, all good now! Somehow I missed that AB update.
Awesome, It works great in Cubasis. I was whining in the Cubasis threads more then once, begging for side-chain compression. And now I have it, I am very happy. You are my hero Jonatan!
Then you probably have the old versions of Space and Dub. It does require 7.1.
No, but I might write something up and put on the website. In the meanwhile, check out this great review/walk-through: http://www.musicappblog.com/aufxpush-review/
The Key Input just passes through the signal, so you hear it as usual. You could put something else after the Key Input to control the output level after feeding the key input, or use a DAW or MiMiX (my own AB mixer is far from finished...)
There's those apps that use IAA and those apps that use IAA because they have to to use audiobus.
That makes sense, thanks for the explanation!
Thanks! great review!
I found a slightly inefficient way of muting the key input to allow me to live monitor the compressed signal discretely.
(I don't have MiMix or any DAW beyond le Garage Band.)
In this setup, Dub is pushed into service as a mute switch with output gain set to -inf dB.
The final output from Audiobus is therefore just Animoog effected by the sidechained compression.
@j_liljedahl Sorry to be that guy but if possible would you consider adding a mute switch for the key input in the future?
Yeah, will consider adding that!
Or perhaps make a Mute app that's just a single mute button...
Guys, what is side chain useful for? Learning compression. I mean where is it needed. I only ever use compression to tame the vocal singer from messing up my levels in tracking.
http://www.tenthegg.co.uk/tips/t010/ Has a pretty good overview
This:
Dude I always stopped in my tracks infront of the TV back when they used to run that lol. I don't know why tho....But yes, good example of what side chaining can do (suppress the bass line volume w/ the kick drum here, to get that pumping effect).
In essence, it is used to make one sound cut through another. Say for example you have two sounds colliding, or muddying one another, and you want one to be more clear. Then what you do is slap a compression on the sound you want compressed, and use the sound you want to cut through and be more clear as the side chain input.
Adjustable depth stop.
Re :a mute switch for the key input.
AUFX : Mute coming soon!
Advanced silence algorithm and pristine quality silence processing.
Automagical ducking of one track behind another. And did that YouTube song even side-chain?
@bonso PQSP dude. It's what's next.
24bit/192khz, 200x oversampled, natch.
Hah, this is how we got The oscillator. Just ask :-)
Back on topic, I really love how easy it is to use PUSH. This is immediately useful even for me as someone who has zero experience with compressors.
@Hmtx Saw a comment, I think on Discchord, that this is a great compressor for someone new to compressors. I totally agree. It's pretty special to have made a compressor that is both insanely powerful and completely approachable. Oh yeah, and it sounds really good!
Seriously, while all the AUFX apps are wonderful, you really nailed this potentially complex one Mr Liljedahl. Hat is off to you.
Cool! Thanks guys!
