Some of the factory effects can have really long cycles (e.g. 20 seconds) like synth Devolution you might think the sound connection is gone but it's just going around again.

  • Nice drum manipulations using Ikaossilator through it just now.

  • ok so let me confirm with each of the fx slots turned completely off and nothing playing, no audio bus, no IAA, what is you guys cpu meter reading?

  • around 10 percent here.

  • can i record the touchpad movements like in Alchemy?

10 % , wow mine fluctuates between 38 and 40% so what is your 10% for?

Just having the app up and loaded I would imagine. It does require a bit for that.

I am guessing it would be your older ipad and I have no idea what else might be causing yours to spike that high other than an older processor perhaps . I might imagine just having the pad running takes a tiny bit of cpu also. perhaps I had a browser open but I do not think I did. Like I said it runs smooth like butter on the air1 but so does flux fx.

  • Wow, so people are liking this huh? I was worried it would be iOS8 only for some reason - turnwill work on 7.1 and up! Looks like a ton of value for 2 bucks and 20MB - will definitely check it out!

Value is precisely the word. We may have other hungers, but there's positive gorging to be done in the effects market these days....

  • Amazing - all this for the cost of a breakfast burrito. And the same night we've got Roland trying to peddle a useless piece of garbage for $15.

btw i'm not talking about the iOS meter but the meter inside the dfx app, is staying at a constant 38/40 % !! with absolutely nothing turned on

  • also i cannot get it to work as a IAA at all.

  • iPad 3, 7.1.2 here.

DFX in standalone I'm getting 34-36% on the default (1st ?) preset with everything off. Some presets were found to be lower while others were higher with all fx off.

Can't reply on the sound yet until I get off work. Seems worth the price from the comments here.

exactly what i'm getting,,, makes no sense

  • I've always had a problem getting an un-noisy guitar into Auria with my interface despite years of fiddling with Gates and Compressors in Auria. I was able to get a fairly decent input into Auria using DX4 with a combo of Noisegate/Compression/High Shelf/Reverb. Worth two bucks just for that!

I second that. It worked absolutely great through AudioBus in either the FX or Output slot. In IAA, I could get loaded into the FX slot in AudioBus, but it killed any audio signal from getting through. Needs some work.

Other than that, I was really impressed with the amount of stuff here! The distortions were nice and thick, and there's some great options with reverb, delay, filters, modulation, and even noise gates. On iPad2, yeah, the CPU readouts were routinely in the 40% range, but that's not uncommon - I've seen similar things with apps like Auria that also monitor CPU. It worked pretty well with a synth as an input at 512 frames.

  • I was able to get DFX working as an IAA effect in Audioshare but I had to open it up first as when it would launch from within Audioshare it would close out.

you say it's common to get 40% on the meter with everything off and no ab or IAA connected?
in what app does that happen, this is the first time I'm seeing something like this…..just to confirm I'm not talking about while using the app, just the app is open by itself with nothing on, not any of the fx slots.. zilch

  • Mine is 17% with everything off. Jumps to 35% with everything on. (Using ipad air 2)

Here's another sound demo where a vocal is transformed with Sparkle via modulation by an FM4 sample then filtered through DFX and remixed with the dry sound in MT DAW. The first part is the dry vocal.

Yes you can, even tempo sync the automation, although I'm finding selecting the tempo very tricky.

Can't believe this app is so cheap, like animoog intro cheap and a great app so far, few things I'd like to see is making it easier to select bpm and other values, some of the distortion effects playing nicely with the wet/dry slider when set low, seems to kick in and not fade when applying a bit of the effect.

So far though loving experimenting with it, along with flux and turnado, this has become one of my fav effects apps, really appreciate the limiter and being able to set the level, has got a few glitches in the sound on a few fx like dm1, which I like at times and going to make use of before they update it and smooth it out.

  • Is the app CPU heavy on newer machines, Air-1 and up?

I'm on an air 2, ios 8.1.2 running imaschine into this to the output in ab, cpu is hovering around 10%, all four fx running.

  • Got it. Brilliant app.
Mine is 17-18% with everything off. Jumps to 30-31% with everything on , 3 FX only 27% (using iPad Air 1), this is sending audio via Audiobus from Sampletank.
Anyway, sounds fantastic. Tried a drum loop from Sampletank, Compressor, then Hall, then Wave Shaper. After this setup your sound comes to life. Love the individual sliders for each fx, also Swapping the fx in the chain makes a difference.

  • @kobamoto - When you do your CPU check are you using a "new" patch (push save icon, select 'new') when you get these high readings? There is a difference between having nothing loaded and having nothing on. If you take different presets and merely turn off the power button for each of the four fx you will still have a higher load than if you use a true clean preset and the load will very depending on which fx are loaded (despite being off).

  • Marketing strategy here on iOS is surreal, pops up out of the blue, at a giveaway price, makes me scratch my head!

  • Very happy with this purchase, really nice App at a brilliant price and very useful guitar presets, my biggest gripe about flux fx is that the presets are mostly too weird and therefore useless to my taste for nice guitar sounds, I am sure the ability to easily share user presets in a similar way to Jamup would increase the usability of both apps significantly.

Just finished a demo for this and paid no attention to the CPU meter so it may be interesting to see what it's doing, I used an Air 2

  • For feature request, I'd love to see midi 'sync', I know the problems on iOS, but when you increase the mix in some of the fx, clock sync is really needed. Also love to see this as a plugin on my desktop.

  • Thx Fingerlabs!

With so many wonderful FX apps such as the AUF:FX and Holderness series I felt I didn't need another effects suite when FLUX:FX came out...even though I was tempted by its gorgeous interface.

And now this...at this price...just couldn't resist and it turns out to be great! Had great fun trying it out with RDM, iFretless guitar and Guitarism!
