It's a great app especially for the price but I'm getting crackles when changing values in delay. Generally good quality effects IMO but levels between presets seem quite varied and the app is generally prone to distorting with limiter off but these are my impressions after 10mins noodling. Once own presets are saved I can see this being used. The crackles aren't pleasant to my ear though.
Great app, also the low and high pitch synthesizer is great to make soundscapes and industrial noize...
My CPU hovers around 15% and some patches up to 50%...whatever that means....Flux/FX runs sometimes to 160% in red (then drops to 40%) and nothing happens...
Couldn't resist this. Works nicely on my iPad 2, though as with every effect I buy they never quite match up to my beloved Turnado. For the price though it's a no-brainer, and does have a few tricks up it's sleeve. I've always liked the effects on DM1 so it's nice to have the formant filter, for example as a standalone. Needs a firm hand to keep it from distorting, mind.
I particularly like the synths - and spent a pleasant 30 mins feeding them through Turnado for a Spacevibe-esque journey into oblivion
Also not working as an IAA in cubasis here,
Thats a bummer.Which iOS version?Anyone tried it as IAA in Auria?I have no reason to buy it if it doesn`t work as IAA.
Needs MIDI tempo sync. This is the one thing that makes an FX app work for me. It doesn't have to be perfect, but enough to make delays and LFOs basically in time with whatever I am playing.
Can you set the bpm manually?
I`m always impressed how good the sync in Effectrix works.Never had a problem, always stays automatically in Sync with Auria or Cubasis when i use as IAA
@Crabman, I tried in Auria, impossible to tap on it once opened as a plugin.
First time the app showed audiobus and sampletank (which weren't opened!!) after a hardware reset, the app shows audiobus, but again I just tried to open it inside Auria.
Dissapointed.
I'm using iPad Air 1 iOS 8.1.2
I'm having lots of fun making the app create weird noises
Tune Bass -> Wave Tremolo -> EnvFollower > Tape Delay and some automatisation.
My iPad Mini is choking (DFX Quits) when i try to record in AudioShare (IAA Effect), CPU is under control (~45% shown in DFX). Don't know about RAM Usage...
Also there seems to be no support exporting recordings made in the app to AudioCopy or AudioShare?
The export has options to 'copy'(but what? it's not generic pasteboard nor audio copy) and options to send Message and Mail or send over AirDrop.
Hopefully these issues will get fixed in future updates...
Thanks,i`ll pass for now.Even if its dirt cheap, without IAA its useless to me unfortunately.
It looks like it, but I would prefer BPM to be synced by virtual MIDI or IAA or some magic. This app doesn't have any MIDI control, so I wouldn't expect this, but its just something I make note of when a new app comes out.
Yes, I've just asked for refund.
I'm sure it'll be fixed.
Fingerlabs shown up yet?
thanks, will give this a try
Pasted from the other DFX thread I commented in.
This can work with IAA if you open DFX first, then Audioshare or Auria(I don't have Cubasis) then select DFX from inside the app you want to use it with. This is a workaround(thanks to Paulinko) and hopefully a fix is forthcoming. Being made by the developers of DM1 and others, I have faith any glitches, bugs, crackles will be ironed out.
Also as Auria saves your FX selection when you start up next time you will probaly have to deselect DFX first and then exit Auria and start the process again.
For $1.99 I am amazed at what it can do. Works great in Audiobus as well.
thanks for the headsup.I remember i had to do the same with Alchemy as IAA (starting first before i could use it in Cubasis).I'm fine with it if it works for now.Excuse me for a second, off to the app store now... ;-)
I will add that using DFX inside Auria on my mini retina can strain the cpu, so again I think you have to be creative and export the track to Audioshare, record the track with DFX and export back to Auria as both Auria and DFX use a lot of resources.
Where there is a will.........
How can i record the YX movements now?I only see the option to record an audiofile but that's not what i want...
I was hoping it would get the IAA sync but despite showing loopy as a host it won't change bpm delay when I speed up loopy and loopy can't see it as midi sync in or out. It's still early days and I don't mind keeping it to support the developer. I'd really like to see a LiveFX style audiobus overlay to switch between presets without going to the app or even better Turnado style midi learn. It's a cool fx unit though and it's great to have control over fx chain for crazy effects too.
Edit: looks like quoting is buggy.
A 2 buck breakfast burrito?
Yep, cut and paste works
(oh, mine worked. I guess it's hit or miss)
@mister_rz
Doesn't look like you can record the XY pad movements.I can only get this "circles"to animate something. Not even other LFO waveforms. That's a bummer.Well...it cost just 2 buck ok but i can see myself spending much less time with this app now than i already hoped for.
Only issue I have is with the Vocoder effect which breaks up into unusable stutters - even just using it solo. Same thing happens with Turnado though so I guess it's an ancient Monzo iPad thing
@Crabman
In my excitement this morning I misread 'animation sync' to be 'automation sync' and made an assumption, even though I had the app in front of me and should of tested it out first before posting a reply to you, please accept my apologies for being such a halfwit. Was gutted when I tried to record the pad movements and could only find a bpm sync'ed circle instead, unless I'm missing something.
Never mind,it was just 2 bucks.Although i think they missed a huge opportunity here.I'll shoot them a feature request via mail.Along with a small reminder to fix IAA
Agreed it's a feature I'd like to see myself, had an old app called audio palette that would record screen movement and play it back in a loop, although it wasn't an fx app.
Recording just the movements in Alchemy is a hell lot of fun and gave me a lot of new ideas that i wouldn't have achieved with"normal"use.Same in iPolysix.I was also quite disappointed that Turnado doesn't let me record such stuff.I don't get it,more and more devs like to implement XY pads but"forget"the function that will deliver the most fun (imo) with it.
@Crabman Yeah it would be cool to see automation like in the DM1 app, but this app has no timeline to tie the automation to. I guess maybe they could add one to go along with the record feature, then they could maybe also add things like beats/bars and time signature, but for now the modulation will have to suffice. In fact seems like maybe that's why they added the modulation feature.
hell, you are right.I totall forgot that you can record a simple pad movement in DM1 as well.So at least he is aware of the fun it brings to the table I already sent him a mail, included the link to this thread as well.
