Sunvox-Two Words:Simply Amazing!
Guys, I just got this amazing app last night and only slept a few hours! I was completely and utterly awed at what this Synth, or whatever it is,
is capable of making. I was actually finding some incredible sounding synth patches that I didn't even hear Z3TA put out. When I played some of built in demos, I was totally floored. Its actually hard to describe with words. It was sort of like going to synth Heaven and seeing all the constellations light up as they all played music in unison.
Well, just wanted to say that I was thankful for those of you that recommended this music app. Sunvox may seem daunting at first and it is, but like a great book, you gotta get into it and enjoy the journey. Just wanted to share for those of you on the fence for this amazing music app.
I'm already pondering how to use it live.
By the way if anyone has any tips to share, thanks in advance. Wondering if it will work with Fiddlewax Pro. Oh man so little time so many things to lead and enjoy!

Going to go take a look as I have not even heard of this one. I need another like a hole in the head but , well you know how that goes.
The First Rule of Sunvox...
Hi everyone
Sunvox & Alexander aka Nighradio are pure awesomeness! Sunvox is great on its own, but also works in AB both as an effect & output (just create an Input module, & hook it to the output). You can also use Sunvox to send midi CC automation to other apps!
The demos you talked about, some are actually Alex's own tracks, so not only is he a really great programmer & developer, but also a great musician, who really cares about his work & is willing to share it too!
Sunvox is one of those apps that can be slow to learn, but is also really sooo rewarding to! Definitely one of my fave apps & something u can make whole albums with! x
It's a great app, and in spite of it's unusual interface and tracker based note input, it's actually fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it.
Lol @JohnnyGoodyear, I've been a huge Zolotov fan for years
On the short list of 'just get over the hump and you'll be happy' apps for me. Long ago history with trackers but never connected with Sunvox. Need to watch a few tutorials and commit a few days straight to it. Just like I said in 2014. And 2013. And 2012...
We need a camp. And a killer tute for willing simple people.
Not for me but on the plus side after deciding it looked more like a torture device of some sort I went to have a play with step poly arp controlling Sunrizer to the beats of RockDrumMacine and got totally absorbed into my iPad! So while this app is not for me at this time at least, I found my way to pure inspiration!
An app of great depth that would really benefit from state saving, so we could all share in its goodness.

This review is what got me to buy it.
I got about three generators connected to effects module the to the output,. What I like is that I van individually select each generator thus allowing me to play a different synth patch live.
Now trying to figure out how to add different effect module to each generator and have it go to the output.
Plus, it's free(!) for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Maemo, Meego, Raspberry Pi, Windows Mobile (WindowsCE), PalmOS. Also available for Android.
Share your patches/songs across devices.
Oh yes, Virtual ANS and Pixitracker are free for Mac/Windows/Linux.

I've been using trackers since I discovered Fasttracker II and Impulse Tracker back in the late 90s. I couldn't afford hardware nor any of the commercial music software back then since I was a teenager. I quickly moved on to ModPlug Tracker (now known as OpenMPT), and then bought Renoise in early 2010.
I got my first iPad in summer of 2010 and quickly discovered and bought SunVox. I knew it was ridiculously powerful but I ended up using BeatMaker 2 most of the time until I got Korg Gadget a year ago. Recently however I've been making synth samples in Gadget and then importing them into SunVox and doing my composing there. SunVox is just too powerful to ignore.
Obviously the tracker interface looks confusing/archaic to many people, but it's not difficult to deal with once you spend some time learning it. What makes tracker so great to work with on the desktop is that they're very keyboard driven and once you learn the shortcuts you can type out melodies and drum tracks incredibly quickly. It's not as fast when using the on-screen keyboard but it's still pretty quick.
What makes SunVox amazing is the impressive amount of features. The modular interface is a modular synth fan's wet dream.
The qwerty thing, yes, that. I try to touch my mouse as little as possible on my desktop but the lack of keyboard makes my head spin in sunvox. I know at one point it didn't support BT qwerty keyboards. Did that ever change? That would definitely help me get back to my 1992 Scream Tracker happy place. LSD might help too but I'll stick with a keyboard for now.
Brought back memories of Jeskola Buzz, back on Win 98, mmmm, BOD goodness, really like SunVox, just wish it had the sequencer UI of Caustic, Gadget, now that to me would take it to a whole new level.
Guys, i can't figure out for the life of me, how to make Sunvox work with myi midi controller. Axiom air mini 32. Any ideas?
Figured it out. Unplugged my controller while Sunvox was running then it recognized it. Wow! I love this app...sounds are so analog and warm sounding....
OK, OK, I'm re-installing it.
Love it. Love it. Great to sequence other apps with. Love the parameter automation you can pull off on a per line basis. Easy to do on fx apps such as Carmel or AUFX. What more, Sunvox can go in all slots in AB. Meaning I can sequence my synths, route it through sunvox fx (of which there are a plethora..and you can design your own too), then route that though the AB output, automating the effect I have loaded there. Absolutely nuts!
Asshole.
This, beautifully sold, is my dragon. Might ignore everything for the next 72 hours chasing this dragon all because of you, Aleyas. I'll give my boss and family your email address, k?
@syrupcore lol, he'll wake up with a tapehead in bed next to him...I always wanted to love sunvox but as a piano player who got into synths purely for gigging (presets only, sorry), I'm still not ready for...whatever the hell it is. I want to use it, I'm not completely stupid, but my head just wants to explode looking at the bloody thing. Ios has been my gateway drug to synthesis, in that I now start with presets and tweak a fair bit and I finally know what ADSR stands for, but Sunvox? It's the crystal meth to my occasional joint. Is there any hope for me?
Funniest part about Sunvox is the hexadecimal. Just in case combining a tracker with a modular system wasn't confusing enough, traditional numbers are thrown out in favor of hexadecimal, lol.
I think the best way to look at it is that you are programming music when using Sunvox rather than playing it. Once you accept that everything becomes a lot easier to deal with.
The hex numbering is a holdover from the original tracker programs for Amiga, Atari and DOS.
Don't worry, I've been using trackers for almost 20 years and I still have trouble remembering hexadecimal...
JGY...you made me laugh.... Thanks man, I needed that...LOL
This app is definitely awesome! Old school looking, I love it. But makes me wish I had a 15 inch screen.
Still it is really analog sounding, inspiring, even when you have to squint.
Much as I love this forum (and I do) it leads me to wishing that sometimes -just sometimes- I could get in the same room with a few folks (different folks depending on the app) and have that 'give me the skinny in person, let me see what you're doing there, oh THAT's how you do that....' session.
More heresy: Can you/do you imagine this will ever be 'updated' GUI-wise....Or is it just perfect as it is (once you grind the gears long enough etc)?
You can certainly play Sunvox via midi. I doubt the GUI will be radically changed as it's the same version on several operating systems: OSX, Windows, Linux. There are several video tutorials online if you search YouTube that covers various aspects of Sunvox.
...we need Audiobus/Skype/webcam
Agreed. Either that or organize an Ab Forum session at SXSW....I'll make the tea.
As I've said many times (never): if one must go to TX, go to Austin. If one must go to Austin go for SXSW. And if one must go to SXSW, go for the Ab forum jam and bring your boxes gut strung or wifi
and bless Zolotov for all his creation, with Sunvox the king of the jungle.
Sunvox iOS was my first tracker ever, which really set me on my way...hilariously cool on the 5s, like someone said elsewhere it's like making a ship in a bottle, but for me that's pretty joyous
