Z3ta+ has some retro banks. Check out the free "Muz3uM" banks that contain wav timbres of actual vintage synths. They sound pretty authentic. You need to import those wav files into Z3ta for them to sound authentic though. To do this, add the wav files to the z3ta iTunes sharing folder. Next time you launch the app it'll import them automatically.
His terse email response of "nothing to add." was annoying to me ... especially after not responding for 2 months.
Also notice the email signature is from Arturia sales team. That's another annoyance and supports @mrufino1 suggestion that Arturia doesn't care that much about iOS apps. I wasted time searching all over their website for how to ask a technical question about iMini and couldn't get past the requirement for a product serial number. There's no serial number for an app that I know of so I finally sent my question to Arturia sales who didn't need a serial number. He did respond quickly at first. It took two months for him to respond to my follow up questions for how long will it take for the update.
I agree with the comments above that iMini is not useless as is. But it's certainly not working well in my opinion. And for $10 it wasn't real expensive. But the customer service stinks at this price level. Maybe I got what I paid for?
iMini has never been usable for me - it loads up at a hideously high volume, and when I turn it down the sound quality isn't up to scratch. And though the appearance is similar, it certainly sounds nothing like a real Mini Moog.
The UK price of about $12 isn't expensive if you're able to use it, but if you're not, then it aint cheap. Add the cost of the useless iMPC Pro and that's over twenty quid they've lifted out of my pocket and provided nothing but frustration in return.
It probably isn't, as in the case of the iMini they're being employed by someone else and being told what to do, they haven't got the best track record though.
I think iMini is actually one of the better sounding synths available for iOS. Not one of the most stable or well-supported maybe...
The forum speaks volumes just looking at the first page.....most post have been moved to 'iMini Technical issues' but then none of them I have checked have even been answered!

This passing of the buck reminds me of my early days in networking tech. support. We would contact Novell about a problem and they would blame Microsoft and of course Microsoft's response would be that it is a Novell problem. It usually turned out that they were both at fault just as the case here. To Akai's credit they never point the finger at Retronyms for iMPC problems. Their approach is more of a diversionary "..we'll look into that." At this point I'm not sure which approach is better because neither seems to be getting positive results for the end-users.
Arturia's after sales rep has always been checkered, though when I have needed support for my desktop synths they've always responded promptly, but to others well not so promptly, I think Arturia do care even if they think IOS synths are just a springboard to the desktop versions, with RetroNyms they probably just undercut others to produce their synths, all the Arturia synths I really like, it's really a shame that sometimes irritating bugs stop your enjoyment of them, especially when they just seem, well simple bugs that other developers correct with little fuss.
Or the irritating bugs make them unusable in a situation where you are getting paid for your work. But, there's many tools to use so imini got eliminated from my live work and that's that. I haven't been annoyed about it for a while. Both companies involved have "spotty" customer service records.
Ha!ha! The very first post is complaining about how it's impossible to open a technical ticket for iMini since there's no serial number.
Was that a post from me? I seem to remember writing that to Arturia at some point.
I once contacted Arturia with a pre-sales question. By the time they got back to me I had forgotten I was ever interested in that product. I guess that doesn't say much for either of us. LOL!
damn. they just yanked the price up on iMini and iSEM. I was really waiting fro iSEM to go down. :-(
What goes up.....
$20
They're punishing us for complaining.
Indeed! U basstard
iMini is one synth I haven't bought ... and never will now! I haven't had a problem with iSEM or iProphet, but I haven't used them much to date... both picked up cheap on sale.
Using iSEM onstage right now (or 10 minutes ago, we're on break).
WE ARE LIVE!
We were...now we're on Rt.87 headed for the George Washington Bridge. ISEM proved it's worth again. I'm not sure about its operator though.
iSEM works great for me, no problems at all.
Are you telling me they raised the price of iMini to $20? Nice! To help raise money to give to Retronyms I guess.
How are they even allowed to keep selling it with all the complaints? Maybe it's partially because one is not allowed to report a problem with an app in the iTunes app Store when it's more than 90 days after the sale. I guess the warranty is 90 days.
I like iSEM also and have not had a problem with it.
I bought iMini for $10 and iProphet for $6
I will not buy iSem for $20 because the service update no good.
No Audiobus no further purchase. I don't like monopoly game and no detail document support and no reply to customer's need.
Arturia is a french company...LOL
I was looking forward to picking up iSEM for $5ish. Its possible its a marketing gimik and they jacked up all the prices only to bring them back down to pickup some quick sales.
Just a reminder the iSEM is ported by Tempo Rubato, while the other Arturia synths were done by retronyms.
The experience with iSEM is much different, it is very reliable and works exactly as advertised.
You can be upset that the price went up if you'd like (I got it for $10 but considering it's now done hundreds of gigs with me it would be great at any price), but also know it's a great, solid synth that sounds great in a mix.
Arturia's customer service record is spotty; lots of complaints from Micro- and Minibrute owners.
US$20 is not too much for a good bass and lead synth, which iSEM is. (I realize that some people use it for pads too.)
Interesting. I didnt know that. I mostly use synths for pads (My leads are on guitar). Should I just spend more time reading up on Sunrizer? I was looking at iSEM just because of the reviews and fact that RetroRhytms was not the developer.
Hmmm. Apart from the stuck MIDI notes issue that was fixed, I haven't experienced any other issues with iMini (except I agree it loads with high volume, but I haven't found that it suffers by turning it down). I'm not a big fan of the Retronyms approach overall, but iMini remains one of my favorite iOS synths. There is very close parity between iMini and the desktop version in the Arturia V suite. As far as I understnd it's a port of the same synth engine.
Marcus Padrini did a comparison test here:
Here's another (albeit quick) iMini vs. Minimoog comparison.
Also, the fact that one can run multiple iMini instances in Tabletop (I have other issues - mostly the same ones as other folks do with TT, esp. no AB support), is attractive.
Would be nice to see a longer comparison from someone who has all three.
But - there is a Sonicstate review as well.
Check this for example (whole thing but a good example starting at 15m50s)
