Modern advertising and promotion should be like it is in Ricky Gervais’s rather excellent film “The Invention of Lying”.
Hi @supadom,
We do have beta testers, so we don't intend for you to be. Still, it's amazing what can happen out in the wild. We have a fix for the Dropbox problem (which happens only on the first link to Dropbox, so we weren't seeing it even when removing the app and starting over).
Thanks for the welcome. We're glad to be here!
So far, export to .wav file for DropBox, iTunes, and direct to Soundcloud. We'd love to know what further choices people want the most.
AUDIOSHARE please...
+1 For native AudioShare support.

Seems to be quite easy to implement too...

iOS audio copy/paste (general pasteboard), and ACP 2 for those that use it. Audioshare as well (this is not a free app though, so ACP first and audioshare second).
@ChrisG is the tribe "Elder" on this forum! He say a thing I listen! Because there is a reason for him to say it right!
(I just wanna +1 to what @Kaikoo said:)
@Diode108 In case you're keeping track: Copy/paste essential. Audioshare happy and intelligent bonus.
At this stage in the game I won't consider buying an app that I can't in one step take material from and bring into another app and the lack of copy/paste is why I haven't bought this app yet.
Absolutely keeping track. We want to support customers' workflows.
@Diode108 Hi Diode. I was wondering what the length is when importing samples. I would like use Diode to trigger 1-4 bar musical phrases. Also can I import a stero sample and have it play back in stereo from Diode? Thanks.
The voices must be mono. Sorry. How much would stereo help your workflow? I can see keeping the built-in kits mono but allowing stereo user samples. It wouldn't be trivial, so it would be nice to know how much people want it. Right now, it will load a stereo sample but just use the left channel. 44.1k is assumed for now. I think all common bit depths are supported.
The length is what was long enough to accommodate the 808 cymbal. I think it's around 3 seconds. Longer samples are chopped. The first part of the sample (I can't remember how much, but I could look it up) is analyzed when loading user samples. Two values are obtained. 1) A reasonable cutoff to operate the tone filter 2) pitch, for note mode.
@Diode Thanks for answering my question. Stereo is very important for samples that have effects like reverb and stereo panning. Also 3 seconds is not enough time for samples with effect tails. I think you should really consider adding these features to Diode. Thanks.
if not already, please make it that all of the audio exporting exports seamless loops or at least as an option. and please if you will individual track export of whole song + stereo mix.
@Diode108 Welcome and congratulations on your app release! I agree 3 seconds is pretty short - at least 5 seconds with the ability to fade out would be better for a lot of user samples of the cymbal variety. Never know if a user's samples are going to be stereo and/or 48k, may want to look into removing those obstacles for users.
Big one for me - is the ability to export stems for DAW integration available/in the works?
Have definitely been think about stems. Would love opinions on what people want, aside from just 16 independent wav outs.
That's a terrific suggestion. Thanks.
@Diode108 - fairly minor thing, but I'd prefer it if it didn't automatically begin playing the last loaded drum pattern when I first load the app. Having it loaded and ready to play would be good. Would give me more chance to adjust playback levels before the beat kicks in.
Also, I wouldn't mind stereo import and longer samples as an option, but I really see Diode-108 as a way of turning very basic elements (short mono samples) into compelling loops, making full use of the parameter automation it provides.
Understood. Maybe a setting for that. We have people who love that and people who hate that.
While we're at it, once Background Audio is switched on it should stay on. For me it is off whenever I open the app even though I had it on the last time I used it. Thanks!
Hi guys, I have a few questions:
Is it truly 51mbs, or is it much larger after install?
How does swing work? Whole numbers between 0-100?
What's the max resolution? 16ths?
Thanks!
Hi solador78,
That's its real size, I believe.
I modeled swing after the LinnDrum, not ProTools, so it's 50 (straight) to 75 (heavy). Slider gives you whole numbers, but you can type in tenths.
16ths, not counting using the 1/2 step delay effect and the roll effects (2 and 4 hits per step).
I've very happy to hear that it's based on the LinnDrum! I'm going to buy it shortly. Thanks!
@Diode108 I would buy it on the spot if 1) it had MIDI learn and 2) supported the iPhone as well. Is that something that might come in the near future?
I was wrong about the length. The code says the max is 204800 samples long. At 44.1k, that's just over 4.64 seconds. We could easily be bullied into stretching that out a bit.
MIDI in, out, sync, and learn are obviously amongst the highest priorities.
iPhone is very important, but needs major UI work (like each instrument would get its own page instead of having one Drum Machine page). We'll have to see how to allocate time for that versus iPad improvements, so I can't say when.
I wrote the swing after reading this very inspiring article: http://www.attackmagazine.com/features/roger-linn-swing-groove-magic-mpc-timing/
Big fan of all things Roger Linn and Attack Magazine. I really wish all devs would switch to 50-75 or would allow decimals to the hundredths.
Just picked it up. Good first impression and it almost suits my needs very well. I would like to be able to adjust the number of bars in a pattern though. Minimum 2, but ideally 8 bars per pattern. Maybe it's there and I just missed it, but I'm too lazy to name a bunch of 1 bar patterns and arrange them in song mode. Also, a flat skin might be nice, like the special fx list, but with simpler icons. Last thing would be Audiocopy, like many people have said. Overall it's a great start and I like the app.
