Yamaha have two different divisions/app stores. The U.S. one is not the same as the rest of the world (hence the "US" in some of their U.S. app names. Some companies have it setup this way for whatever reasons (prolly legal/licensing stuff).
Does that mean there's a chance we won't get it here in the US?
Wow you still don't have it? Weird.
The initial release didn't hit the U.S. until well after the rest of the world either, so there still may be some hope.
I am losing hope in an effort to reverse-jinx things. Hold on tight.
All quiet in Indiana. Well, besides that racket coming from the Governor's office. Not showing in updates, only found in "iPhone Only" search, last updated 23 January.
I remember seeing the app when it first came out in Australian iTunes. Intended to get it but never did. Now there is no app called Yamaha Synth Book in the store in Australia.
If the non US version got updated, the U.S. version will definitely be as well. It's just that it's two separate apps, and hence two separate submissions to the AppStore review team, but it shouldn't differ more then perhaps around a week at most(?)
There's no iPad version in the German appstore either, only the iPhone version...
It's only available as an iPhone app.
Did you try searching for iPhone apps as well?
here is the aussie Synth book https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/yamaha-synth-book/id947712793?mt=8
The Yamaha Synth Book with the included AN2015 synth is sooooo fuckin' AWESOME!!!!
Yamaha, give us the oppoturnity to pay you same cash for this piece of jewelry!
We really miss a landscape mode for the UI... But, Yamaha, we love you!!
I'm wondering when (not if) Yamaha will release a stand-alone version with full control over all parameters as the synth engine is very but is for now crippled with the limited amount of editable parameters and modulation routings...
'No results for Yamaha Synth Book' on the UK store...
Cheers @banjofran , @ChrisG.
Well, I could see it and read about it in the Aussie store but still no update here a day later. I don't have these problems with my Korg apps.
Search under iPhone apps if you're on the iPad..
It might be good if someone from Yamaha read the forum, anyone know if they do?
It's definitely on there because mine updated by the time I got home(UK) yesterday. As @ChrisG mentions, it is an iPhone app, not iPad so may be harder to find from an iPad.
Thanks @Jocphone @ChrisG , found it. I did look through their other 'related' apps via iPhone as well but it didn't show up. Shows up in the iPhone only search though. Cheers.
Nice synth, had some weird display problems ,so I recommend launching and working on portrait mode only. Some random glitches inside AB like no sound when adding a second AB chain and insert other synth, but the main problem is I cannot receive/send midi from other apps. AN2015 see the midi ports of other synths but not the opposite.and network midi did not work either.
Sound is very nice and at first I underestimated it, but after spending some time I realized it is not a toy synth...digital cool sounding and easy to make musical phrases
Wow, what a great little app. And free! Haven't tried it with AB yet but had a quick play and it has some very usable sounds. Great stuff!
Still no update in Olde Austin Towne but I'm going with ChrisG's separate review scenario and imagine it will turn up as and when.
Agree with you @monzo it IS a great little app. Seems very old school/retro but has some stuff under the hood that works well. Was running it through Auxy out and even adding in some of the drum phrases within the Yamaha and was quickly making interesting bits of noise. Not certain exactly what to use it for (was thinking of the big shoulders and hair styles) but with AB should be able to have some fun as an instrument of some kind. Would love to know what their overall model/strategy is here.
First note I played reminded me of the intro to 'I want to break free' (Queen).
In my fist quick play I hit on a patch that sounded very Visage 'Fade to grey-ish'. I tapped in one of the electro pads and pretty much had the song nailed. I might record some of the drum loops and arps into Auria, as it'll give me a quick bit of content to play around with and learn how it works. Might even end up with a song that doesn't sound like floating sheep.
Works with midi, had it sequenced with Kushion and MidiSequencer, though at times the sound broke up, didn't see an option for it to work in the background, haven't checked out AB yet though.
Occasional vanishing sound in Auria, with the Yammy screen sometimes going haywire. I got a couple of tracks down in between the nomsense, though it's a battle.
I though midi was broken until I saw your post.i can't get midi to work with my synths or beatmaker2...will try to reinstall....
Seems to be syncing with Loopy Ok
Well , still no US update, but waiting kind of patiently.
@Korakios, midi is quirky, but does work, synth book has to be in the foreground though, might work in the background via AB, haven't checked yet, but on my Mini Retina I had occasional sound break ups when I sequenced it via Kushion, so it may be hogging resources, remember it's not just a synth it's a book as well, maybe that uses valuable resources too, @monzo seems to have encountered a similar thing.
