Moog application updates (Filtatron, Animoog)

Hi everyone,

I thought it would be good to let you know that at Moog we're actively updating both Filtatron and Animoog for recent versions of Audiobus and iOS, and fix known bugs along the way. We apologize that this has taken a while, you will now be seeing a series of long-overdue improvement releases.

Two weeks ago we already released an update to Filtatron so that it works as an effect slot in Audiobus, supports state saving and has a 'play/pause' trigger. This week we submitted Filtatron v1.4.1 which fixes the most reported issues, upgrades to Audiobus 2.1.6, and adds a dedicated 'stop' trigger for the sampler, as well as some other nice improvements.

Our software team's efforts will now be mainly directed to Animoog, this might take a few weeks as there's a bit of work to do, but you will soon have an updated version that plays well with the latest version of iOS and Audiobus.

Thanks a lot for your patience and support!

Geert Bevin,
Senior Software Engineer at Moog

  • Good news, thanks for the info :)

    Yay!

  • Good stuff! Top apps! Could you look into adding IAA Midi into Filtatron? Not a lot of effect apps have that, probably too specific of a request - I want it because I think it's needed for automation within Tabletop but I'm sure there's other benefits. Whether you add it or not I love both apps so, big time thanks!

  • Great stuff !

  • Animoog - yes! Love it and look forward to greater stability.

  • @GeertBevin Feedback means a lot.

  • Thanks for the update info Geert, glad to hear you guys haven't forgotten about the iOS community. Looking forward to everything working properly again...

  • @ GeertBevin Thank you, great news

  • @GeertBevin thanks, nice to hear your voice here

  • I don't have Animoog as of yet but it's definitely on my list of next iOS synths to buy. Good to hear about the update. Any chance it will support 48K output like iVCS3 does? Seems a shame to have a great sounding synth locked in at 44.1K output.

I'll put it on the list of things to consider, thanks for the suggestion!

Sadly that is not going to be easy, even though it would indeed be really good to support higher sampling rates. The audio code is very optimized for 44.1K and supporting other sampling rates would be a major effort.

  • Looking forward to improved Animoog stability and a crash-free zone.

Ah, I guess that is the case with all iOS synths. Perhaps not so much with iOS synths that are not using complex code to emulate analog synthesis sound, but for those synths that do it be nice if they had that extra bit of sonic room. Moog for me was always about the rich sound.

  • I was wondering, as people are loading their own timbres, could you make it official, with itunes/audioshare support, looking forward to the other updates, as I love these apps, even tho they've grown temperamental.

  • This is really great news. I do hope that they keep the synth optimized to run well on older iOS devices.

I remember what a relief it was when Animoog 2.0 was released and it actually ran smoother on my older iPad 2 than the previous version.

    I appreciate that.

  • Cool I think that hopefully will solve my issue with the connection panel not working I. Animoog

  • I have both, but never use Filtatron. Not sure what the big deal is. I've had it since its release and back then it barely did anything.

So you have this amazingly sounding delay, a moog ladder filter with an lfo and an envelope follower, an amp to warm it up, and a vco. You can run your mic input through it or your apps or the sampler that's inside the app and yet you don't know what to do with it. That's wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  • Did landscape mode get put back for Filtatron, after having been removed?

Well, I guess we'll find out shortly.

    Great news, thank you!

  • Can you please fix the problem with the 4 track registration so it works off line too, and once you registered it stays ?
    Thanx

  • it is nice to have Moog guys here

No it wasn't. Sadly, this proved too much of an effort to easily fix due to the rotation behavior changes between iOS 7 and iOS8. We have our eyes on this though and are discussing how this could be properly done in the future. However, the priority goes to Animoog for a while now.

Having proper handling of timbres is definitely one of the focus points of the Animoog updates. We're still investigating how to do this well while seamlessly upgrading existing installations.

In Filtatron we've done a lot of efforts in the last release for interoperability. We support now AudioCopy/AudioPaste v2, iTunes sharing, a built-in HTTP web server and a WebDAV server.

Do you mean the Audiobus panel inside Animoog?

We're not aware of this issue. Would it be possible to contact us through http://www.moogmusic.com/contact and provide more details about how to reproduce this? We can then more easily follow up with you afterwards.

OK, will do, I thought it is a known problem...

If you cut wi-fi/internet , FourTrack will ask for registration. It has to stay connected to internet, otherwise it doesn't work, telling you this offer has expired...

    Maybe others could test it?

  • thx Geert for your infos whats going on @Moog

and i don`t realize that you are working for moog (know), (since when? if the question is allowed)
that alone to know is a present, yeah.

Hope your passion around the leap motion and gekko flows into moog and hopefully the leap-motion and your gekko arrived sometimes on iOS!

    please say YES!
