thx Geert for your infos whats going on Moog

and i don`t realize that you are working for moog (know), (since when? if the question is allowed)
that alone to know is a present, yeah.

Hope your passion around the leap motion and gekko flows into moog and hopefully the leap-motion and your gekko arrived sometimes on iOS!

    please say YES!

Glad to see you here and thanks for praising GECO for Leap Motion!

I can't divulge anything about the product plans for Moog, sorry. Obviously my personal interest in new live performance interaction techniques will influence the ideas during product development, but what exactly that will be translated into is a big question mark at this time. :-)

  • :-)

so it makes me happy to know that your influence is inside of moog.

The rest comes from the heart, thats enough.

    peace

    Indeed. Welcome Geert.

Having proper handling of timbres is definitely one of the focus points of the Animoog updates. We're still investigating how to do this well while seamlessly upgrading existing installations.

Thanks for the reply Geert, thought after I posted maybe having a separate app for the desktop would be good, but I like the idea of using audioshare and having a folder called timbres or something as everything could be done on device, my excitement has been building reading all the responses, so thanks again for taking timeout to chat.

  • Yes the audiobus panel does not work in Animoog. It's very frustrating. Hope you guys can get it squared away soon.

  • Are these updates coming in May? Gotta make my iOS synth budget.

  • Yes, today is Filtatron day

Filtron in audiobus does not work at all for me...latest everything...

  • Works fine here (iPad Air 2 iOS8.3) in both effect and output slots in AudioBus also works fine as IAA Effect (Don't forget to turn up the Line Level in Filtatron).

  • ...but it still doesn't bring back the former landscapemode, really? Does this work for anyone (I just tried it with iPadAir, latest ios7, newest Filtatron), maybe it works on ios 8?

  • @Animal, there are tech problems with it that the developer addressed earlier in this thread.

  • thanks, @syrupcore, I somehow missed that comment before... .

  • @samu every time I load it in AudioBus It crashes and brings me back to the home screen...

Are you certain you're using Filtatron v1.4.1, the latest version? Could you try uninstalling it and redownloading it?

  • Uninstall, reinstall.. Soft reset ipad

  • that was the first thing I did...still crashes every time...

  • @deb, could you please try again? Something was wrongly configured for Audiobus, and the Audiobus guys helped us fix it. I can only see one recurring crash in the crash reporting history and since this was properly configured, there haven't been any.

    @GeertBevin
Thank you so much for being here and trying to help.
I have the same problem @Deb is reporting. Tried reinstalling Filtatron and Audiobus, soft-reset the iPad Air, no cure.

I use Filtatron as a delay-effect for my Moog Little & Slim Phatty on stage. Had two gigs last weekend, had to use a different delay app, very annoying.

Filtatron crashes as soon as I start it from within Audiobus.
Funny thing: If I try it without the audio / midi interface connected, it's running fine. Interface is an Apogee Duet. My guess is that it is not related to the audio interface, but somehow to the MIDI implementation? To check, I used a simple USB2MIDI interface connected via "camera adapter", but Filtatron did not crash with this setup.
@Deb - are you by any chance using an Apogee Duet as well?

Hope we can find a solution. I love the sound of the Filtatron delay.

  • Thanks a lot for the additional details @rabu42, could you please try starting Filtatron without Audiobus, by itself with the same interface? Does that work?
I've tried with my Apogee One and Audiobus, and that works perfectly fine, I'll experiment with some other devices.

FYI, we were able to reproduce this with an iConnectAudio4+ device, which also exposes multiple audio channels (more than 2) and midi ports on the same lightning connector. When Filtatron is used in the effect slot of Audiobus, it crashes immediately. However when used standalone, Filtatron works fine.

We're now working with the Audiobus guys to see what the cause might be and how to resolve it.

    Hi Geert,

I tried to use Filtatron without Audiobus. Works fine, except the "Line" input seems to be the iPad microphone. The output works fine through the Apogee audio interface.
Thank you for investigating this - much appreciated.

@GeertBevin hi Geert, a couple of issues in Animoog I have found are that often I have to restore purchases or some of my preset packs don't make any sounds.. I've also had lost the 4 track a few times and had to re-register..

Also presets seem to store bpm which is annoying when changing presets when you want to be locked to a bpm, please can you add the option to turn this off?

Animoog really needs midi clock input if possible. Oh yes ability to type in bpm would be useful as well, very fiddly on an iPad mini, thanks :)

  • @rabu42 if you go to system preferences and select Filtatron, you can set it to default to a USB audio device for input there, this should allow you use the Apogee as an input device.

  • Btw in Animoog the Audiobus panel does work for me if you have the iPad orientation of the home button on the right. This is because of not updating Audiobus sdk I believe.

  • @Cambot thanks for the suggestions, all these are already known, the first releases of Animoog will focus on stability and then we'll add minor feature improvements.

  • guys with crashing Filtatron, can you dig out a crach log from iOS for Geert, pleasE?

Thanks again for the details you provided, we tracked this down to using Filtatron as an Audiobus effect with multi-channel audio interfaces. The Audiobus team sent us an updated SDK that seems to fix this issue. We'll further test it and release an update as soon as possible.

  • That is great news! Thank you so much.

For me Animoog receives BPM on the same channel as MIDI input. When you change presets, the BPM syncs automatically. This works for me... I guess it would be nice to designate a separate source for clock input if that is what you are suggesting.

Thanks, you're right it does sync that way, but a separate source for clock input would be ideal. It's a bit unpredictable at the moment too. If I use Genome as the source it sometimes syncs at twice the bpm but at least it syncs :)
It won't sync at all to Poly for me for example but if I use Genome to drive Poly then it works.
