Wohoo!
It's insta-buy time again, don't really care about the price ($13 according to fb page).
This is what I have been waiting for!
(From the looks of it this will easily beat the desktop counterparts, like GoatTracker and derivates).
Hopefully they will also add (or it already includes?) WAV export and support for AudioShare, preferably with options for 1-file/voice or even better export a selection to wav. Can't see any signs of this in the videos...
Feeling ecstatic to say the least
(Love the 'toilet demo')
YES!!!
@Samu totally agree on Instabuy
I had yet to see the website: http://sidtracker64.com
"No samples, no bullshit. This is the original SID-chip replicated to perfection. You can even export to play back on a real Commodore 64.."
Can't wait! Totally into chiptunez atm, looks like a pretty comprehensive little app
ETA?
yes!! between vividtracker, nanoloop, sunvox and yes, pixirracker too i guess, one more tracker is always welcome. i was actually thinking a few weeks ago, why hasnt someone made something like this [after playing with deflemask on pc].
looks wicked too
I do not get this for a second, but vive la différence and I'm happy if you're happy, crazy good people
Actually, I'm bummed (ha!) I don't get it because that's straight into my Top Five demo videos of all time with an absolute bullet...
The Stereosun is also $13 on discount; what a crap comparing with this.
So glad to hear SitTracker 64 coming! Could be very good for house, trance tune???
Awesome! I think the Gods must be involved because just after Samu gave a great in depth introduction to me about SID the next day this appears. :-) I can't wait to try it out.
Sweet!!
Reminds me of the ole Amiga days with M.E.D SoundStudio. Now there's a thought? Wonder if a Dev could do that? But with midi controlled, so we could use M.E.D as a 16 track midi DAW to contol Korg apps, Sampletank, ect?
Knowing how exited I am about this app I just had to get in touch with the developers and was quite surprised about the fast reply
The export feature will respect channel muting meaning it's possible to export single tracks or any combination of tracks and also it's possible to export a 'selection', Yippee!
*.WAV export will not be there in the initial version but is planned for an update, same with AudioShare support.
Now I can't hold it, I'll ask if it also supports 'Open In...' as this would make it easy to dump tracks to other apps
Very awesome. Looks great. I was an editor at COMPUTE!'s Gazette magazine covering the C64, and the SID chip will have a special section of my brain reserved as long as I live.
I wonder how much trouble it was to get the waveforms and analog filter right. I remember talking to David Viens about Plogue's chipsounds and I think he ended up using samples for some of the waveforms. Hard to really nail the SID's sounds.
The C64 was awesome! (I just had a C16 plus 4 with tape). I played it a lot with it with my friends from youth. I can't remember the name of the game with my favourite soundtrack.... damn. I just have the cover in my brain. This thread inspires me to hear some old C64 soundtracks and i was surprised how great the low end can be
Nostalgie De La Boue!
I had MED Octatrack or whatever it was called - I had a plug in hardware 'sampler' for my Amiga 500+ as well.
@JohnnyGoodyear
longing for muddy, uncivilized, indulgent life? Mister Googear..........
I expect to have nice tweak for this chiptune synth. Lovely, Kingston's friend without Gadget.
@Kaikoo Well done sir. I have been trying to come up with a name for line of Dr. Goodyear merch and Googear is perfect...
@monzo Yeah it was awesome when the Amiga coders got trackers up to 8 voices. I got a review copy of a great 8 voice tracker called FTM (Face The Music) and made tons of music with that.
@JohnnyGoodyear
So, We have Cyclop to outpace Miami. Now has SidTracker64 over Kingston! I just need Auria Pro piano roll editor to break oligopoly game. I too much don't like Korg not supporting Midi clock, in and out channel selection and undo/redo buttons.
@Kaikoo I have imaginary conversations when my head is on the pillow with the CEO of Korg (we are both on a barge, floating down a canal in some unknown European city, drinking strong coffee) and he always ends up asking me: You can have a fully realized Undo function or we can extend the Bilbao sample time to sixty seconds; your choice....

@Diode108 I'm pretty sure these guys know what they are doing when it comes to SID-Emulation
I've been listening to SIDs with SidPlay for Mac for many many years and it's SID-Emulation (6581 & 8580 + various revisions) is as close to a real C64 I've ever heard.(My C64 broke down long time ago).
http://www.sidmusic.org/sidplay/mac/
(Just enable 'best accuracy' and enable the 'filter distortion plug-in' for proper 6581 emulation).
The app happens to be open-source and is still working good under Mac OS X 10.10.3 and hasn't been update in very long time, the sync towards HVSC collection still works too
On the iPad I'm using Modizer to listen to SIDs and it uses the same engine but lacks the filter-distortion plug-in, so the 6581 doesn't sound as 'warm' as with the proper filter distortion emulation.

The SID used in the SidTracker video can be downloaded from here.

Hope the approval process doesn't take too long...
Cool, @Samu.
One of the best things about this forum right now is these little chats between @Kaikoo and @JohnnyGoodyear . Surely I can't be alone in enjoying this!? I admit that I might not be able to fully decipher every little word and meaning here, but very enjoyable nonetheless!
On the subject...When I was a kid a got a Commodore 64 on a b-day from my parents. Along with it a big suitcase, filled with cassettes. Obviously pirated games mostly, but I was too young at the time to know about that stuff, I just knew I had gotten a C64 and a suitcase containing around 900 games. A childhood friend & neighbor also had a C64, and I remember being kinda jealous that he had that new more modern looking grey C64 while I had that brown ugly thing (which was the original model I learned long after of course:). After a few years, I decided I wanted to take it apart to "see how it worked", needless to say it didn't survive the surgery, and I was devastated!
That rings a bell, I'll have to look that up. Octamed (just remembered) was my favourite - amazing what you can do with 1mb and 30 mins of floppy disk loading!
Cool beans. I used my Tascam 4 track as a mixer - running the MS20 and some other old bits of mad stuff through it.
I seem to remember being able to load samples from games disks into Octamed, so my music from that period features a lot of explosions and sword fighting - aieeeeee!
I've got a friend who's bought up hundreds of old Amigas and C64's and refurbished them with decent hard drives. He was selling them on eBay if you're interested, though he went a bit mad recently so you might get sent a balloon with a face on it.
@ChrisG
Well, Boss!
My best games were Crazy Climber and River Patrol. They are not in app store, I miss them!
Turrican, Barbarian, International Karate +, Elite, The Last Ninja 1&2, Uridium....... Ahem!........ Back to the Audiobus Forum....... Going off down memory lane again....
