I've got a friend who's bought up hundreds of old Amigas and C64's and refurbished them with decent hard drives. He was selling them on eBay if you're interested, though he went a bit mad recently so you might get sent a balloon with a face on it.

Haha that's great. But no my C64 days are over.

    Well, Boss!

My best games were Crazy Climber and River Patrol. They are not in app store, I miss them!

Ooh I remember River Patrol, good stuff. Got some nostalgic feelings seeing that again :)

  • I also remembered there was a game in that suit case called "Sex Games". Basically the faster you moved the joystick back'n forth the faster the dudes on the screen went....back 'n forth, getting higher scores, or something like that, that's all there was to it. Oh how easily entertained one was back then...

  • My favorite game that we published on the Gazette Disc...

I used to load games and get hypnotised by the music before I figured it's time to press fire and actually play the game :D

Rob Hubbards music in Crazy Comets is just one of them...

Oh yeah I had the very first Boulderdash which came out on the Atari 800. I think I was one of the entries in the Atari Star contest. One of the best games ever!

Lol... i broke the joystick.... i trained with Decathlon.... i mean..... oh...... nothing ;)

I think my fav. game was Stunt Car Racer!

  • Decathlon that was brutal especially with the old joysticks, talk about R.S.I.

Yes.... amazing when i today play things like The Witcher 3 and then i remeber those times. This games were much fun and the social network was called "outside". In 50 years we have a thunderbolt 100 port in our neck because apple bought the world :)

  • Used to be a load of pals all gathered trying to out-do each other's high scores, some kid here in Sheffield is trying to recreate the 'social' interaction that these games once held, as opposed to the disconnect that seems all to prevalent today, hope his idea fares well.

Kaikoo I have imaginary conversations when my head is on the pillow with the CEO of Korg (we are both on a barge, floating down a canal in some unknown European city, drinking strong coffee) and he always ends up asking me: You can have a fully realized Undo function or we can extend the Bilbao sample time to sixty seconds; your choice....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judgment_of_Solomon

Counter with a 45 second sample time and a single Undo step and see if he'll bite.

  • My parents bought a C64 with the disk drive. We used to trade games at school. My favorite games were Zork, Impossible Mission, Hacker, and Ultima 2. Ultima 2 was especially cool because it had time travel.

  • Only problem with the old C64 and a lot of the old home computers was the tape loading, used to take forever, and my old old cassette deck was so well worn the head alignment was out of wack, so I had to hold the play button down most times to get it to load, ahhh flashing boarders of colour, memories....

    ZORK!

Yeah. I loved Zork. I also loved the Hitchhikers' game. I got to work with Steve Meretzky a few years ago at Disney. That was cool.

  • Aye, the loading times, only to eventually see the dreaded "Syntax Error". :(

You got it. Tammi Terrell indeed. I really don't remember how to change it.

Ah, ya can't change now. You ARE Tammi and Tammi's been good so far. Don't jinx it :)

    ZORK!

Speaking of Zork you can get it for free on the iPad. The app also has other Infcom games for sale very cheap. You can buy packs with 5 games for $2.99 or get all 25 Infocom games for $9.99. You also get the original manuals, box art, maps, and clues for each game. Zork you get for free!

  • Ahh.... Mr Cinebient. I heard a news rumour a year ago from a German magazine that Turrican was coming over to our beloved iPad(not the 8bit version from Elite)........ But alas, nothing.

  • I had a C64 with an early version of Passport MasterTracks Pro. You had to load modules separately. Record MIDI. Unload record module. Load edit module. Edit MIDI. Etc… it's so easy these days. LOL!!

  • Who needs Audiobus when you've got this!

    Lol

  • Well, this Mssiah-Cartridge would have been cool to own way back when I still had a working C64 :D

  • Fred here from the SidTracker 64-team! Just post any questions , and I'll do my best to give you an answer.

Maybe it's appropriate with a proper introduction (I didn't find an introduce yourself-thread). My name is Fredrik Segerfalk from Helsingborg, Sweden. I started my music career on the c64 back in 1985 and I did music for a bunch of games with a self developed music routine with my business partner. You can find some of my stuff on http://hvsc.etv.cx/?path=C64Music/MUSICIANS/M/Moppe/

I also run Analog Sweden, a studio/brand/webshop with focus on vintage analog synthesizers. Last year we did a successful crowdfunding campaign called Moments Lost - music and art inspired by Blade Runner, making new music with a similar setup as Vangelis used (Yamaha cs80 etc). My music education consists of seven years of playing church organ, some private lessons in jazz and improvisation and countless of hours with the c64 and hardware synths. I've also done a lot of production/advertising/game music during the years.

My role in the SidTracker 64 project involves most things outside the actual programming, which is done by Daniel Larsson, iOs-developer and also an old school c64-scener.

Now, hit me with any questions :)
