iOS9 will be announced for sure, and I guess we can look forward to updating our iOS devices to iOS8.4
I heard on FB ipad page split screen?
That's true. iOS9 probably won't be released until the fall with the new iPhone.
Poor developers, it must be a nightmare supporting apps through all these os iterations..
@High5denied what's this split screen thing?
Who knows maybe we'll see an Atom based iPad Pro previewed, the guts from the MacBook with a touch UI but that would likely push the price way too high.
Details regarding the 'A9' chip will most likely be saved for the next iPhone release.
As will the iOS9 release...
Also the 'State of the Union' session will be nice to watch...
As usual there will be plenty of material from all the sessions available on the net for those interested.
But as usual when it comes to Apple, we never know until it actually happens...
I just really wish they finally would make these "one more thing" again. It's every year exact the same boring stuff. C'mon apple surprise me (but not in a bad way).
I am curious about the whether iOS9 will work on iPad3 and if it does, whether the performance will be improved or not.
Of course, knowing Apple, I don't have high hopes...
Like the sound of a new iPhone, mine's three years old now and showing it's wrinkles - a timely time for a new one.
Ha, I just upgraded to iOS 8 last week
I'm excited about some of the other rumors. It would be great to be able to access all of your paid iTunes songs and everything that's available on Beats from the same app. Really cool if they were merged together into one user database.
Let me copy/paste folders within iOS..... but i also have not very high hopes. I think it will be all about their music stream and apple buy and some health care and home care stuff.
...... oh...... one more thing..... the iPad pro with 4GB ram, 256GB SSD..... It comes with Logic Mobile included (with the latest Alchemy 2 engine).....
Gonna wait for 9.1ish before finally dumping my ios7 devices.
Updates, fixes, performance enhancements, security patches, some kind of streaming/music/subscription boondoggle....holding action for Nine.
Fixes, breakages, meltdown, everyone on the forum remembering the 'good old days of 8.3 when everything just worked'
@monzo.... I like that
Well it's official. They said "iOS 9 has been refined from the ground up — starting with improvements at the foundation of the operating system."
This probably means a lot of work for developers to update their apps, so it will take a while, but I think in the long run it's a good thing.
"Developer APIs will be available for Picture in Picture, Slide Over, and Split View." Well, that means it's work for the devs. I was hoping it was more like, "hold your iPad in portrait mode and get two vertically stacked landscape apps".
I wonder how Slide Over and Split View will change the game for Audiobus?
OK, that's it then. Pack up you lot. Time to go home.
This could be useful and app switching is in need of updating.
I wish they could enable a simple option of just seeing all available open apps at the same time for selecting at speed instead of scrolling through some kind of list. It looks pretty but it's unproductive.
I'm trenching on 8.2.
It works for me all around.
I'm not bothered if it's a boy or a girl, so long as it's OK, stable anyway!
app switching via keyboard shortcut looks useful for music production
I like the sound of Split View (sorry @Diode108) - be great to have a synth/rhythm app and effect such as Turnado on screen at the same time for live tweakings.
Wait...split view only iPad Air 2?.....
I think they're providing other options for older pads, such as 'slide over'
Slide Over(split screen) could be very big for music production. You could be in your sequencer or DAW and split the screen with an instrument. You could edit notes and and adjust knobs at the same time. Or adjust settings on an instrument and a effects app at the same time.
No split view for Air 1 is just another complete fail by Apple. They're becoming sooo predictable with the cutting out a feature or two for "old" devices, to keep the sheeps buying the latest and greatest.
(From a tech standpoint the Air would handle split view just fine, unless the OS is coded by monkeys and/or is heavily bloated)
Maybe the limitation is RAM related when you have two screens open and right now only Air 2 has 2 gigs
..... one more thing...
