@BiancaNeve
mh, but you are bringing up this "interesting philosophical debate" directly after quoting Auria release announcements. but no connection between the two intended?
I quoted Aurias release announcements following this comment from this morning,
@BiancaNeve said: On the other hand encouraging people to buy the current version of an app based on the promise that a major feature is coming "soon" with upgrade pricing becomes increasingly shady the longer soon drags on for.
This is an unfair and inaccurate take on the situation with Auria. The app was released as an audio recorder/workstation (with no claim or intentions about MIDI). Only after it was out for a lengthy bit did Rim say he would add MIDI due to the demands of the people who had already bought the app. I don't recall Rim ever "encouraging people to buy the app based on the promise that a major feature is comin soon". If anyone bought it under that pretense, that is the buyers fkup, not Rim's. Personally I bought Auria as an audio recorder/workstation and I can only dream about where it would be NOW (audio loop recording, multi bus options, etc) if it weren't for the MIDI that many people demanded. I'll patiently wait for the update, while using a great app (as is). And then I'll be super happy when the update does come.

My original comment was made 17th June following a comment about how it's best not to rush release apps my point being that neither is it good to advertise them too far in advance either.
The timeline speaks for itself they have been teasing adding midi since 2013. Repeatedly refusing to give an estimated date. Consequently when they do give an estimated date it's not unreasonable for people to assume that that will be approximatly.correct.
Since my 17th June comment Auria have announced that Auria Pro is still some way away from beta.
There is indeed a connection between the interesting philosophical debate and Aurias development timeline. However the one was not posted in response to the other.
I'm struggling to see the problem here - I, and the majority of other Auria users bought the app because of what it does now - such as it's superior mixing features, not because of what's on a future roadmap. As far as I can see no-one is feeling cheated. Seems like you're making a fuss out of nothing. As the young people say, 'chill'.
I'm going to let you all in on a secret- I actually had a song I was going to finish, guaranteed to be a #1 hit. Seriously, everyone in the industry (everyone!) heard it and said so. However, I couldn't finish because auria's midi hasn't arrived. Clive Davis left here just a few minutes ago and said, "too bad you can't finish it. If only you had the tools..."
I actually had a song I was going to finish epitaph material for too many of us perhaps
@mrufino1 Too bad, I was looking forward to "Rise of the Bird (the Auria Sessions mix)" being the first indie breakout hit on Apple Music. Clive always was such an impatient fellow.
Has anyone tried loading Cubasis into Auria? Sounds like a perfect combination for right now.......
It's funny that most people are arguing over MIDI being such an integral part of songwriting, when I believe adding, "time signatures and tempo changes" to Auria is much more important to song composition. Are most people really writing songs with only one tempo in 4/4? Adding the Fabfilter synth will also be welcomed, but a sampler seems less valuable. At least for my workflow. Wavemachinelabs could have made each of these features individual IAP's too, but they didn't. So I say good for them and us.
Musician's, as all artists, are a passionate lot, and this is why we all want what we want, immediately. So we can get on with what we believe we can achieve if only given that golden tool.
Have you listened to the radio lately? ;-)
I try not to , but playing in 2 wedding bands I have to hear a lot of new pop. There's some good stuff out there, and there's also lots of other stuff out there.
It's hard to imagine hating Wavemachine- they made a DAW with plugins that runs on a tablet. That's amazing.
Yeah, it's been a while since I've listened to the radio. I guess Jazz and Prog Rock have ruined me. Oh, and 2 wedding bands? You are a glutton for punishment. I remember the best part of those gigs being the food. If I ever am asked to play Mustang Sally one more time I'm gonna kill somebody. Just kidding... Really!
The food at our gig on Saturday was the worst steak I have ever been served, couldn't even get one bite down. It balances out, because a wedding at the Gotham grill in NYC about a year ago was the greatest steak I've ever had, in any setting.
I don't mind the paycheck, believe me, and weddings are a constant source of twisted wacky entertainment! Friday night a young woman started trying to beat up a guy and it took about 10 people to get her out of there. I think she may have had a small nip of liquor at some point in the evening...
I'm excited at the possibilities Auria Pro will bring. I can wait, as long as it's before my fingers stop working.
I am afraid of what the features and the upgrade to pro will do to my ipad air1. Is it going to act and play nice with my air1 and me? Or is it going to crash and give me the good ol' CPU warning, when I try to use the new stuff, with or without the old stuff. I am really really hoping it will all work as good as it does now, which is fairly reliable.
MultiTrackStudio already has that if you need something now. I'm not so sure Auria Pro will cover all the bases that MTS has regarding midi.
