Has anyone been able to use ifunbox with windows and 8.4?

Starting with iOS 8.3, Apple blocked off access to app internals, so programs like iFunbox don't work like they used to anymore. The only way to get access back is by jailbreaking.

I was going to stay on an older version of iOS 8, but as soon as the latest TiaG jailbreak for iOS 8 was released, I updated to 8.3 and jailbroke my iPad so I could have access to the filesystem. Without this jailbreak my iPad would've stayed on 8.1.2 indefinitely just so I could keep using iFunbox.

  • So far, the only major problem I'm seeing with 8.4 is the inability to access files through ifunbox. Hopefully the ifunbox team will get things working again soon. :-)

  • Thanks, but I'm just referring to shared docs access with iFunbox..so much quicker than iTunes. I'm happy with 8.3 because you can use ifunbox to copy shared docs files even though they blocked sandbox access.

  • I'm in the same sort of place as Sonicflux....I'm still running 7.1.2, and been fairly happy to bypass the problems other have been having. However, more and more, I keep running into apps I'm interested in that I have to move to 8 to use.
And now, I'd have to download 8.4 which seem to be another whole can o' worms.
Air 1 user, and contemplating upgrading this weekend. Hmmm...

  • Best thing, i find is to try your set up on another iPad running the latest os. I tend to do that when I upgrade my iPad. Or I used to before I could afford to have 2. I just bought Air 2 and that will go straight to 8.4 for testing.

It's not like Apple is forcing anyone to upgrade, either. I'm still on 7.2. Debating on whether I should upgrade to 8.4. The only driving factor for me is the apps that don't support IOS 7. It's not Apple that's motivating me to upgrade; it's developers.

I just updated last month from 7.3 to 8.3 and i didnt expected it ,but everything runs a little smoother compared to my old ios 7. IAA runs a lot better and dont crash that much anymore. The problem, like you said ,is that they dont release any new updates for ios 7 anymore and you are forced to upgrade after a while. Ios 8 is not perfect and still some minor bug, but its more stable then its was before with ios 7.

  • @Proto That's good to hear. I've been getting the impression that, for the majority, 8.4 runs a bit smoother than 7.12. I haven't taken the time to update, yet, but I'll probably get to it this weekend. I've been dying to try Flux:FX!

FluxFx runs better on ios 8.It was crashing constantly before.

  • Anyone else made a move to 8.4? I'm particularly interested in iPad Air 2 as I'm getting one through my door later today.

  • So the brand new second hand IPad Air 2 16gb cellular (£230) is here. It arrived with 8.2 pre-installed so I had no choice but go 8.4. Restoring from backup now and will do some testing when done.

    Watch this space

  • I got a new Air 2 a few weeks ago and updated to 8.4 the day after it came out. I haven't had any troubles so far. I have a ton of music apps but haven't done exhaustive testing. I do regularly use Tonestack, Auria, AudioReverb, Flection, and various synths.

  • Just chucked a load on it and it works like a charm.

Nice to know, I'm still on the 8.3 fence

  • ...and the screen feels solid under fingers. No tap tap. Suddenly air 1 feels like a lemon!

  • Dammit. Now i also want an air 2 .

  • I upgraded from an iPad4 to an Air 2 about a month ago and I'm very happy. I waited for the scroll view bug to be fixed (took a while, had to wait for 8.3) but it runs very smoothly and is way more pwerful than the iPad 4.

  • Thinking about going from 8.3 to 8.4 soon. Just wondering if there are still reasons to hold off though. How's it working for those on 8.4?

  • I'm running iPad mini retina, air 1 and air 2 on 8.3 and have no issues whatsoever.

  • Thanks @supadom. I just upgraded my iPhone 5S. Going to hold off on my mini retina and iPad 4 until others chime in and I see how the phone fares.

  • Mini retina and ipad 4 here, same dilemma.

  • I'm on the fence now, on 7.1.2 on both air 1 and 4s. I'm sure the air1 will run fine, but anyone try 8.4 on 4s? I see a few apps now that are ios8 only, not just music, so I think i see the writing on the wall...after watching the haq video just now, audiobus remote is looking much more interesting than I thought.

  • IPhone4s yes, it's fine.

air 1 and 8.4 runs fine only ifunbox doesnt work anymore. It worked fine with 8.3,but for me its not a big deal.I updated from ios 7.1.2 to 8.3 last month and it runs even better then before.

  • My advice if you are still on 8.3 is to stay with 8.3 if you want to use ifunbox and dont care about the new apple music app.

  • Anybody got an ipad3 running 8.4? Any Pros/Cons with music App performance on an iPad3 and 8.4 or performance in general? Im still running 7.1.2 on it. Don't care about the iFunbox issue. I like(d) iFunbox, but my iPhone is already on 8.4.

  • With Audiobus Remote, I'm really on the fence about upgrading my iPad 4 from 7.1.2 to 8.4. Anyone using the same who can give a stability report?

  • Well, 8.4 is downloading to the Mac, I just finished a backup and transferred purchases. No turning back now...I guess the 4s is next assuming the world doesn't end...;-)

So Im on 8.2 simply because I like to use ifunbox to get files to and from my Mac/iPad. I'm told that the newer systems still work with shared docs. I'm not sure what that means. Can anyone explain the difference between the ability to transfer shared docs and the ability to share the sandbox. What ability will I lose if I go to the new iOS version.
    TIA

  • I staying 8.2. Tried 8.3 and couldn't access any folders where my presets for Z3TA so I went back.

  • Yep you can access a lot of system folders via iFunbox that iTunes can't access, but 8.3 onwards closed off that option, only shares with iTunes are accepted, so if you need to access the apps file structure, iOS 8.4 at the moment doesn't allow it.
